Fresh Mist

Summary:

A chaotic mess...sure that's what they were. Lived to be pointed at by other European nations. But when the unexpected happens, can they really keep each other safe?

Notes:

An actual fic with continuity?! More likely than it seems.

Chapter 1: Garden of Woe

Chapter Text

Bulgaria was humming a tune while fixing up his flower beds. Making sure to take extra care for his fragile plants. Pulling out weeds is strangely relax for him.

Sigh.

...If only his sister would keep quiet.

"Come on Bulgaria! How long does this usually take?" Macedonia complained. That's what she's been doing for the past ten minutes.

Bulgaria rolled his eyes and kept quiet for a few seconds just to purposefully irritate her. "This is a delicate process Macedonia. I am the only thing between growth or wilting for these beauties!"

Macedonia glared in annoyance. Hehe mission successful. "Oh get off your high horse. It's your turn to make dinner tonight so hurry up ok? I'm about to die of starvation and it'll be all your fault."

He sighed. She has a way of getting under his skin in a way only younger sisters can. For all her sweetness and good nature, she can be stubborn. He suppose she gained that from him. No, I was worse. Wasn't I?

"Alright. I'll head in." In defeat Bulgaria stood up. Macedonia smiled in victory. "Don't give me that look! It's only because I'm starting to get hungry too."

"Right...right."

Bulgaria huffed. Still annoyed at her from her never-ending complaints. He walks across the garden to their house's back door. Macedonia trailing behind him.

As they enter the kitchen, Macedonia broke the sweet, short silence. "So earlier today I was hanging out with Albania. Guess what he-"

Bulgaria tuned her out. Something he gotten good at over the years. Thanks to Macedonia's talkative personality, Bulgaria is certain he can blur out any conversation.

Maybe... He thinks. I'll call Romania later. Beats her company for sure.

After dinner Macedonia heads to her room for her regularly scheduled alone time of the day. "Even social people need rest. Not that you would know." She told him before. He pouts at the memory. It's not my fault I hate attention or crowds or public speaking or strangers. Social people...hmmph.

Trying to ignore the feeling of anger of a problem from long ago that remains unsolved he dials Romania's number. It rings...it rings...but no answer. He always answers. The both of us are never busy. The only friends they had were each other really and they lived to slack off. Bulgaria thought it was a bit weird, but figured he could of been busy taking care of Moldova.

What a cute younger sibling he is! I wish I had one like him... He doesn't hate Macedonia honestly. She...is just hard to deal with sometimes. Bulgaria doesn't like the idea of something being hard to him. He was a gifted kid growing up, strong in combat, great in the arts, very educated, and something as simple as his sister's words can nerve him? No way!

The only other person who made him feel not fully perfect as a kid...didn't upset him. The way he made him feel was not perfect, but something much more. Something better. Something warm.

Great...he's blushing. At thought of his...nevermind. It doesn't matter. He too heads up to his room.

If only he would see a text would be sent to him a few minutes later.

"We have to run."
