“So, you’re Price’s little wife. On your way to meet the Captain, love?”
You couldn’t see his face behind the the balaclava but the smirk in his rough voice was obvious. He had looked you over then, his gaze almost clinically appraising and not at all the leer you had expected. Your mouth had gone dry and a pulse of heat went through your lower belly when he had leaned in close, too close and clipped the badge back into place on your shoulder. He had been careful not to touch you, not to so much as graze the fabric of your dress but his proximity combined with his size was intimidating and shamefully arousing. It had taken you a moment to process that he’d spoken, distracted by the scent and warmth of him for just a second before he had pulled away, giving you back your personal space. The statement should have pissed you off, irritated you at the very least but you had just nodded, stuck out your hand reflexively and introduced yourself as John’s wife.
