The actual summary is much less romantic. When your identity is forged in loss and pain and suffering, accepting love is impossible. Even allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to be seen, to be known, to be loved is fucking impossible. But, just like listening to the pain of grief can teach you who you are, sometimes listening to the pain of loving and being loved in return can teach you just as much in return.
