Wade's healing powers are a bit different from the usual, yes, when a part of him is cut off, it stays alive and comes back to him, if it's still in time and another part didn't grow in its place, he just puts it back and his body accepts it, healing right away. But sometimes it's too late, and he has to watch as a part of him dies and rots. It hurts of course, more than being cut in itself. But he's used to pain.
Since Logan entered his life this has not happened, he has not fallen apart or lost any piece in front of him. But it happens on a mission, his hand being cut off and Wade expects it to come his way, but the hand has its own plans, and strangely it's going to the older man.
