Chapter Text
Sky is hanging out with Rain, the two of them shopping for some project necessities and taking a quick little detour to the bookstore because Sky really can’t wait another day to pick up the newest issue of One Piece.
They run into Phayu there, and Sky politely greets their senior, while Rain makes an absolute fool out himself trying to act like he hasn’t been dating Phayu for at least a couple weeks already. Sky is busy rolling his eyes at Rain’s antics when they’re joined by another man, who looks enough like Phayu that they’re probably related in some way.
“I got the new issue Yu, hey Rainy-boy.” Rain’s hair gets ruffled and Rain sighs, he doesn’t even try to pretend anymore, instead shooting Sky an apologetic look.
Phayu smiles and introduces him. “Sky, this is my brother Saifah.” he looks at what Sky is holding and his smile widens. “Looks like you both like the same comic.”
Sky suddenly feels shy for some reason. “It’s a very popular manga…” He mumbles.
“P’Saifah! I told you that Sky is making me watch the anime too, right?” Rain has a mischievous look on his face and Sky can feel trouble brewing.
Saifah chuckles. “Yes, you did.”
“Maybe you should watch it together instead!”
Sky feigns hurt. “You mean you don’t like watching it with me?”
Rain pouts and frowns, he didn’t mean it like that. “Of course I do, but I thought it might be more fun for you if you watch with someone who likes it as much as you do! And maybe, you know…” Rain tapers off, the ‘maybe you’ll like him too…’ is almost inaudible.
“It was nice to see you again P’Phayu and very nice meeting you P’Saifah, but it’s clearly time to go home.” Sky grabs Rain’s arm, pulling him out of the store.
“What was that? Rain, if this is some kind of ‘We’re best friends, wouldn’t it be great if we married brothers so-” Sky stops talking halfway through. “Oh my god, it was, wasn't it?”
“Well, it would be really cool!”
“What are we, twelve?”
Rain pouts. “I just like the idea...”
“I have no desire to date again and you know why.”
“I’m sorry, I got so excited imagining the whole thing…”
“It’s fine, let’s not talk about it anymore, okay?” Rain probably planned their joint wedding in his head already…no thanks!
“Okay! We should totally get some snacks, what do you think?”
“Sure, come on.” Sky is grateful that Rain gives in that easily, though he’s sure that once they’re back at the dorms, Rain will try to ask about it again. Maybe Sky should bring up Phayu instead, that surely will be enough to either shut Rain up or unleash a horribly detailed torrent of words, either option is better than talking about Sky dating anyone ever.
Surprisingly, when they’re actually in Sky’s room, Rain doesn’t talk about it at all, instead, he just pesters Sky into helping him with his blueprint and then begs to read Sky’s new comic.
“No, your fingers are literally sticking to each other and everything else, I don’t know how you did it, you didn’t even work on anything that requires glue.”
“It’s…a natural talent?”
“Must be.” Sky laughs.
“So uh, can I ask you something?”
“Yeah alright.” Sky hopes it’s about their homework or maybe some cute thing Rain saw somewhere in the mall.
“I was just wondering if you think P’Saifah is cute, that’s all?”
“…Come on.” He should’ve known better than to think Rain would actually drop it.
Rain goes silent for a little while, then he pipes up with “Do you want me to ask P’Phayu to ask his connections to deal with your ex?”
“Excuse me?”
“Well, you obviously already figured out that P’Phayu and I are dating, so..”
“No, what connections?”
“You know how I wanted to get revenge on P’Phayu?”
“Yes, and then I got sick and when I came back you were already deep into your mission to make him fall for you.”
“Welllllllllll…..turns out sneaking into places you’re not supposed to be is actually a really dumb idea…but P’Phayu was there to save me, so, yay? And turns out he works at the races that the mafia runs….so those are the connections I’m talking about…”
“What the hell, you snuck into the races that the MAFIA runs, you’re insane!”
“Well, I didn’t know it was the mafia running them, I just thought he was doing something bad that I could use to expose him….It’s fine though, everyone is really nice an-”
“My ex goes there. So I don’t believe everyone is really nice.”
“P’Phayu would never let anyone get away with something like that!”
“Rain, I appreciate you and I value our friendship very much, and I also really admire P’Phayu as our senior, but you should really understand that people don’t usually care for things that don’t directly involve them. If P’Phayu didn’t like you, he would’ve thought it was perfectly fine for the mafia to get rid of you for sneaking around where you shouldn’t.”
“I don’t believe that. But I guess any chances of you liking P’Saifah are off the table then too….”
“Rain, just because you’re so sweet and kind to everyone, unfortunately doesn’t mean that everyone is. And also, even if I wanted to date or whatever, I’ve only seen P’Saifah once.”
“Yeah, but he also works at the races...” Rain smiles at the compliment but ignores the rest of that.
“Oh.” Of course he does, Sky vaguely remembers Phayu saying something about working together with his brother during one of the many times he’s been talking to his juniors, and it makes sense that it includes this too.
“And I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with me maybe one time, because P’Phayu said I could ask…but guess that’s not something you’d like then either.”
“Yeah, thank you though.”
“Of course! And if I get the chance, I’ll kick your ex in the dick.”
“You don’t even know who he is.” Rain knows his name and a vague description, but Sky sincerely hopes that he’ll never run into him.
“I’ll figure it out!”
There’s no way Rain won’t do anything in his power to do exactly that, no matter if Sky tells him not to, so Sky just sighs.
“Be careful, okay? And wash your hands, I’ll let you read the comic.”
