One Treat Too Many

Summary:

Chihiro’s been feeling all types of stressed and anxiety ridden, all he really wants to do is hang out with a friend and find a way to calm down. Lucky for him, he’s found a way to kill two birds with one stone.

Notes:

I actually wrote and posted this three years ago, and then around a year or maybe two ago I deleted for a reason I’m still not sure of. But! I recently rediscovered it in my notes, and thought it was cute so I wanted to repost it for the world to read.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Chihiro felt like the world was spinning around him, completely unaware of where he was and what he was doing. He knew he was lying down in what felt like a bed and there was a weird scent surrounding him. He stared upward, identifying the room he was in as one of the rooms at Hopes Peak. Must be his. For no apparent reason, Chihiro moved his arm up like he was trying to touch the ceiling, but it seemed like the ceiling was running away from him. He sat up and attempt to grab at the ceiling again, with it moving farther and farther away from him. Were the ceilings always this high? He tried one more time, propping himself on his knees and doing a little hop to try to reach, stretching his arm as far as it could go. However, the ceiling stayed out of his reach. Chihiro let out a dramatic sigh and flopped back down onto his back. Frustrated and reached towards the plate that he suddenly found sitting next to him. He was close to grabbing one of the few brownies that were sitting on the plate before it was suddenly taken out of his field of vision.

“Alright that’s it,” Chihiro heard an amused voice say. “I’m cutting you off.” Chihiro looked up at towards where the voice was coming from and was greeted with a relaxed looking Hagakure. Wait, was he in Hagakure’s room? How’d he get there?

“Hey, you alright? You’ve just been sitting there all dazed and stuff.” Hagakure asked poking his arm playfully. It took Chihiro a second to process the question and he just stared at his friend before a wide grin spread across his face. Chihiro suddenly felt as light as a feather, a feeling of amusement bubbling up inside of him. He began laughing uncontrollably as Hagakure watched on with a knowing smile. Chihiro rolled onto his side and giggled a little more before poking Hagakure back.

“Yeah I’m,” He was still laughing a bit. Suddenly everything around him was the funniest thing he’s ever seen.”I-I’m fine. It’s just...” Chihiro looked around, realizing he was definitely in Hagakure’s room. “How did I...get here?” Hagakure looked confused for a second before gasping softly.

“Oh! Yeah you just showed up at my door, said you needed to be around someone or something along those lines. I let you in and you sat down on my bed and I went to clean up a bit and when I got back you had eaten some of the brownies I left on my bed and had taken a little nap.” Yasuhiro gestured towards the half empty plate. “I guess once you had one you just couldn’t stop.”

“Oh my god Hagakure,” Chihiro apologized sincerely. “I’m..I’m so sorry I ate one without asking you. It’s just like, I was sooo sad and stuff and I saw the...the uh,” Chihiro snapped his fingers trying to remember the word he was looking for.

  “Brownies?” Yasuhiro finished for him.

“Yeah! Yeah the uh brownies. I saw them and they just smelled so good and I tried one and...and...” Chihiro’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion for a second. “Hey Hagakure?”

  “Yeah?”

“Why do I feel so weird?” Chihiro heard Hagakure chuckle.

“Well you just ate about three brownies with cannabis in them.” Hagakure said, picking up one of the brownies and taking a bite.

“Can a...what?” Chihiro still had that confused look on his face.

“Weed. You ate brownies with weed in them.” Hagakure deadpanned. Hagakure was expecting his friend to start freaking out, maybe even crying. It’s typical for people to get distressed their first time, Hagakure knows that well. However, to his surprise Chihiro began laughing once again.

“Oh my god, really?” Chihiro said between giggles. “That’s so stupid! Why did I do that?” Chihiro looked to Hagakure to see if he found this as funny as he did and sure enough he was greeted with a bright grin and a hearty laugh.

“Dude that’s crazy! You really ate like-like, three edibles! Wha-What the actual hell!” Hagakure could barely finish his sentence through his laughing, clutching his stomach area. Chihiro watched his friend’s ruckus laughter and a weird feeling blossom in his chest. He couldn’t remember the last time he had felt so relaxed being around another person, high or not. He always remembered feeling anxiety no matter where he went or who he was with, and it was torture. Always worrying about how they’re perceiving him, what they want from him, what they’ll do to him. However now, sitting here with his classmate in his bed, higher than a kite, laughing their asses off, for once he felt safe.

“That’s so crazy how I walked in the moment you made brownies and ate them the moment you walked away. That’s like, destiny.” Chihiro rambled with a smile as Hagakure’s laughter calmed down. “Do you believe in destiny Hiro?”

“Believe in it? I am destiny!” Hagakure said with a dramatic swoop of his arm. “I’m a clairvoyant remember? I can see destiny.” Chihiro’s smile widened at Hagakure’s dramatics.

“Yeah totally. 30 percent of destiny is all yours.” Chihiro giggled as Hagakure gave him a playful punch on the arm.

“Hey I’m working on getting better okay? It’s not as easy as it looks.” Hagakure pouted and suddenly Chihiro got an idea.

“Hey Hiro,” Chihiro said getting up from his laying down position and sitting on his knees facing Hagakure. “How about you show me a little?” Hagakure raised an eyebrow at him prompting his to elaborate. “I mean, show me some of your clairvoyant skills and stuff.”

Hagakure brought a hand up to his chin as he usually did when he thought and hummed.

“Well, I don’t usually give out these services for free if I’m being honest.” Hagakure said slowly before sitting up and facing Chihiro. “But you’re a cool chick so I’m willing to make an exception just this once.” Chihiro cringed slightly at the ‘chick’ comment, forgetting that Hagakure didn’t know his....predicament. Before he could say anything however, Hagakure grabbed his right hand and turned it over to look at his palm.

“It’s been a while since I’ve done a palm reading so I might be a little rusty.” Hagakure brought Chihiro’s palm close to his face and began tracing the lines with his finger. Chihiro couldn’t help but blush at the situation, no one’s ever held his hand before. Hagakure ran his fingers across his hand for a good minute, Chihiro paying close attention to his facial expressions to try and decipher what he was seeing.

“Okay, I’m gonna tell you the truth, I might get some of this wrong.” Hagakure said prompting Chihiro to chuckle slightly. “However, I’m pretty confident I got this right. So let’s start with your heart line.” Hagakure put his finger to the line at the top of his hand.

“So according to this you seem to be pretty content with your love life.” Hagakure explained as Chihiro nodded. I mean, that was pretty true, though he’d be lying if he didn’t have a little crush on...someone. He wasn’t particularly looking for a relationship at the moment, especially not with his secret. “But, right about around here,” Hagakure circled his finger around a particular part of Chihiro’s hand. “It says that you have some kind of emotional trauma.” Hagakure looked up at Chihiro for conformation but was met with an distraught expression. Not wanting to upset him, Hagakure moved on quickly.

“L-let’s switch to your head line.” Hagakure said awkwardly.

“Head line?” Chihiro asked, tilting his head a little.

“Yeah it’s like, the stuff in your brain and stuff. How you think and learn yknow?” Hagakure explained and Chihiro nodded. “Alright, it says here that you think realistically and rationally. But this little circle here in the middle of the line says...” Hagakure’s voice faltered.

  “What?” Chihiro asked anxiously.

“Well it’s just...have you been experiencing some kind of emotional crisis?” Hagakure looked at him nervously. He should probably tell him. Tell him his secret, tell him about the relentless teasing and harassment, about how he was too weak to be who he truly was. However, that little voice in him telling him to trust Hagakure with his secret was being drowned out by a thousand other voices telling him to keep his mouth shut.

“Uh, well I mean isn’t like, this whole situation we’re in an emotional crisis?” Chihiro hoped that answer convincing enough. Hagakure stared at him for a few seconds before hitting himself on the forehead and laughing.

“You’re right! Jeez, I totally forgot about this whole killing game thing.” Hagakure and Chihiro chuckled a bit before Hagakure brought Chihiro’s hand back up to his face.

“Alright we’re almost done, I promise. Now onto your life line.” Chihiro silently hoped this wouldn’t expose some deep personal issues he had. “So this one shows that you’re cautious when it comes to relationships. That’s not bad. It’s a good thing to be safe and stuff.” Hagakure smiled and Chihiro reciprocated at his attempt to make him feel good.

“Okay ChiChi, I actually have some good news for you!” Hagakure sat up straight and put on a proud smile. “It seems you have a Fate line! It’s actually rare for people to have this line and even then it’s hard to decipher what exactly the line is saying. Luckily for you you have the best clairvoyant in the business to help you.”

“Well tell me what it is now I’m excited!” Chihiro grinned and he began bouncing up and down in anticipation.

“Okay okay, calm down and hold still.” Hagakure began gently running his finger over a specific line of Chihiro’s hand and stared at it with a concentrated look as Chihiro watched on with nervousness.

“Okay, I have come to my final prediction” Hagakure said after what seemed to be hours “So, it seems your fate line breaks and changes in direction. This tells me that you will experience a major life change very soon, brought on by some external force. Something involving someone you considered a friend.” Hagakure finally put Chihiro’s hand down and flopped back down on his bed.

“Jeez that takes a lot out of me.” Hagakure picked up the last brownie from the plate and took a bite. “Well, all there is to do now is wait to see if my prediction comes true. Keep an eye out for any big life changes.” Chihiro simply sat there for a few seconds. A big life change? Involving a friend. Wait, he said someone he considered a friend. Does that mean someone’s planning to betray him? This prediction was making him more anxious than he thought it would. Hagakure must’ve noticed his worried expression cause he reached a hand out and gave Chihiro a pat on the knee.

“Hey, chill out.” Hagakure said while taking another bite from his brownie. “Remember, I’m only 30% accurate. Plus, maybe it’s something good y’know? You’re pretty cute, maybe you’ll get a boyfriend or something.” Hagakure put his arm back behind his head and closed his eyes. Chihiro flushed at the idea but quickly shook his head. Like that’ll ever happen.

Notes:
