Our (Broken) Idea of Love

Summary:

Whit and Ace decide to become as close as they can be in a killing game, ah, what was the word again? Love? It can be such a deadly killer, no? It can sneak up behind you and strangle your feelings until there’s nothing left but a limp, cold, soulless body.

Chapter 1: An Introduction to Beloveds

“Love is a gentle thing; water it and nuture it it gently, and it’ll grow beautifully, but one small mistake can shatter it into pieces.”

“Do you think we’ll both make it out of this killing game alive?” Whit asked, out of the blue. The atmosphere within this cursed place was much more dampened after someone as seemingly sweet as Eden was able to pull off such a brutal and complex murder, even going as far as having an accomplice.

Both executions were merciless.

“Ha?” Ace exclaimed, looking at Whit with a deserved amount of bewilderment. Why the fuck would he ask that? Sure- they just had a conversation about death, but that was people they’d lost . In the past. Why was he trying to bring that back up but with the current time?

As much as Ace just wished he could tell Whit “Yeah, we’re both going to make out alive”  with confidence, the chances of that were near impossible. Someone like him was surely going to die here, there's not a single doubt in his mind about that. But he gives a small sigh and looks at Whit with a weak smile.

“Yeah- we are.” He mumbled, looking at Whit with as much of a smile as he could without it faltering. Oh how he just wished they could both make it out of this god forsaken place together.

Whit looked back at Ace with his signature grin, his sea blue eyes closing to form such an adorable expression, ah how he wished he could watch the blonde stay in this happiness forever, even if some of it was a lie.

“Then promise it!” He blurted quickly, scooting closer towards Ace as the shorter of the two recoiled a little from the sudden outburst.

“The hell you mean “promise it?”” Ace tched, looking at Whit with a face of bewilderment. What, was he supposed to promise that he wouldn’t die in this place?

“Promise me you’ll make it out alive with me!” Whit shouted, giving Ace a small, pouty glare. He wanted this.

“I-” Ace cut himself off and sighed, he couldn’t win this one. If he didn’t, Whit probably would be a bit disheartened by the other’s words, and Ace didn’t exactly want to make Whit upset at all. So instead he put up his pinky finger for a-

“Fine, But pinky promise it.” He muttered, glaring at the other as he sat their a little shocked by the gesture before laughing and interlocking his pinky with the other’s gloved one.

“Promise! And remember, if you break it, your pinky’ll fall off!” He chuckled, watching Ace’s face immediately drop to an expression of what could only be described as pure terror.

“WAIT, SERIOUSLY?!” He exclaimed, eyes wide with fear and worry. He didn’t want to lose his fucking pinky finger! That’d hurt like hell!

“Mhm! If you break this promise, you have to cut off your pinky finger in return!” He grinned again, jesus if he kept this up then his face would be so stretched out all he could do is grin.

“Wait but I’d already be dead how would I do that???” Ace asked, fear now being replaced with confusion.

“Uh, the ghost of your past sins’ll cut it off for you..?” He mumbled, puzzled. Ace did bring a good point, if he broke the promise he’d have to cut off his finger. But he’s dead, so then possibly, possibly , the ghost of  his past sins would do it?

That scared Ace.

“WAIT THERE’S A GHOST???” He shouted, jumping into Whit’s arms out of fear. Ghosts were scary, OK?? They could like- haunt you n’ shit! He didn’t exactly enjoy the prospect of being haunted by something.

"That's if you die, silly. But you're not going to, since you promised not to!" Whit reminded, Ace giving a small scoff, not out of malice though, just light annoyance.

“Yeah I know- anyway let’s just- fuckin’ go to the new floor.”

“Alrighty!” Whit smiled, jumping up onto his feet and extending his hand so Ace could grab it and easily stand up.

“Tch- thanks.” Ace tched, grabbing the other’s hand and standing up before dragging him quickly to the elevator.

Oh what could be on the new floor?
