Work Text:

Moving quietly around the kitchen, Oscar was already awake. He was wearing one of Lando’s oversized shirts, one of the only ones that fit him, and his favorite pair of comfy shorts. The kitchen was filled with the warm scent of coffee, hot milk, and the pancakes he was currently making.

He was humming softly to himself as he poured some of the batter into the pan. It felt like he was inside a peaceful bubble. Convincing Lando to take a few days off after Monza had been the best idea he could have had. The past weekend had been rough for both of them, and he just wanted to enjoy peace and quiet with his... well, with Lando.

As he was looking at the pan, cautiously flipping the pancakes, he didn’t notice Lando shuffling into the kitchen, still half asleep, his hair messy, and his eyes half closed. He was wearing sweats and a wrinkled shirt that belonged to Oscar, clearly just having rolled out of bed. He paused in the doorway, watching Oscar for a moment, a soft smile growing on his lips as he took in the sight of the Aussie cooking in front of him.

“Mmm, smells good...” His voice was low and thick with sleep as he was wrapping his arms around Oscar from behind, resting his chin on Oscar’s shoulder.

The latter chuckles, enjoying the warmth of Lando’s embrace. “Figured I’d get us started with something you won’t burn. Sit down; I’ve got this.”

Grinning lazily, Lando places a soft kiss on Oscar’s cheek before dragging himself to the table. "Lucky I’ve got you, huh?”

Oscar laughed at his answer, finishing up breakfast, his movements easy and relaxed as he served the pancakes. Lando sat comfortably at the table, sipping on his hot milk and watching Oscar with a soft gaze.

As Oscar placed the last pancake on Lando’s plate, he leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. “Here you go, baby. Hope you’re ready for a day of doing absolutely nothing.”

Lando, still half asleep, looked up at Oscar with a sleepy, affectionate smile. “You’re the best boyfriend,” he said, his voice thick with drowsiness.

The Australian's hand froze mid-air, a pancake spatula in his grasp. His eyes widened slightly as he looked at Lando. “Boyfriend?”

The casual mention of the term had caught him off guard, and he wasn’t sure if he had heard it right; they hadn't talked officially about their status. Lando’s relaxed expression shifted to one of confusion as he noticed Oscar’s reaction.

He rubbed his eyes groggily. “Did I... did I say something wrong? I didn’t mean to—” He blinked, trying to shake the sleep off.

Oscar quickly moved to sit beside him, his expression softening. “No, it’s not that. I just... wasn’t sure if we were, you know, calling it that yet.”

Lando’s brow furrowed, clearly worried. “Is it too soon? Oh my God, yes, it’s too soon. I’m sorry, after what happened between us, I just thought... I shouldn’t have assumed.” He blinked, trying to shake the sleep off.

Oscar smiled warmly, brushing his hand over Lando’s arm. “No, it’s not too soon. I’m really happy you said that. I’ve been wanting to say the same thing. I just didn’t want to push it.”

Lando’s shoulders relaxed, and a sleepy but genuine smile spread across his face. “I’m glad. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable or anything. Just trying to be honest, I guess.”

Oscar squeezed Lando’s hand, leaning in for a quick kiss on the cheek. “You’re fine, baby. I’m just happy we’re on the same page.”

After finishing breakfast, they both cleaned up the table and the dishes. As they were side by side by the sink, Lando leaned in for a kiss. He felt warm and content, grateful for the peaceful morning they shared. Oscar, though, placed a gentle hand on Lando’s chest, stopping him from closing the distance.

“Ah-ah, not so fast,” Oscar teased with a grin, holding Lando at bay. “No kisses until we've brushed our teeth, Lan.”

Lando frowned, pouting slightly. “Seriously?”

The Aussie chuckled, stepping back and giving Lando a playful nudge toward the bathroom. “Yep. I’m not kissing you after breakfast, morning breath, and all.”

Lando groaned dramatically but turned on his heels, dragging his feet towards the bathroom. “Fine, fine! I’m going. Hurry up, Osc!” he called over his shoulder. He was muttering something about “unnecessary conditions for kisses” under his breath.

He reached the bathroom first, almost running, while Oscar joined him shortly after. The Brit quickly grabbed his toothbrush, already slathering on the toothpaste in a rush to get it over with. His boyfriend watched him with an amused smile, slowly picking up his own toothbrush.

“Unbelievable,” Lando muttered around the brush in his mouth, scrubbing his teeth in frantic circles. He was glaring at Oscar’s slow movements, tapping his foot impatiently.

Oscar was, of course, in no rush. He squeezed his toothpaste onto the brush with exaggerated care, taking his sweet time before finally starting to brush. Lando, already finished, spat into the sink and wiped his mouth, staring at Oscar’s reflection with a pouting face.

“You’re doing this on purpose,” Lando accused, leaning on the bathroom counter with folded arms.

Oscar raised an eyebrow, pausing his brushing for a moment. “Maybe I am,” he mumbled around the toothbrush, his grin obvious despite the foam.

Lando groaned dramatically. “Come on, you’re killing me here mate!”

Oscar finally finished brushing, rinsing his mouth out with deliberate slowness. Lando stood by, practically vibrating with anticipation.

When Oscar was done, he turned to face Lando with a teasing smirk. “Did you just call me mate?”

Lando didn’t even answer. He grabbed Oscar by the waist, standing on his tiptoes, pulling him close as their lips finally met in a soft, lingering kiss. The playful tension melted away in the warmth of the moment, and Lando hummed in contentment, his impatience forgotten.

“Good morning,” Lando murmured against Oscar’s lips, smiling.

Oscar chuckled, resting his forehead against Lando’s. “See? Worth the wait.”

Lando grinned, his arms still around Oscar. “You're a menace.”

Oscar smirked. “I know.”

They both decided to cook lunch together, despite Lando's lack of any skills in the kitchen. He was trying to chop peppers, a task that required more focus than he cared to admit, when he felt Oscar’s eyes on him.

“Why are you staring?” Lando asked, raising an eyebrow but keeping his attention on the cutting board.

“Just thinking,” Oscar replied, leaning against the counter with a sly smile. “You look cute when you concentrate.”

The oldest shot him a quick glance, trying to play it cool, but his lips twitched into a shy smile despite himself. “Shut up and focus on your sauce.”

Oscar laughed, stepping closer. “You focus on your peppers. I’ve got the sauce under control.” Then, without warning, Oscar leaned in and planted a quick kiss full on Lando’s lips, pulling back just before Lando could fully react.

“Hey!” Lando complained, trying to keep his composure as his cheeks flushed pink. He tried to focus on chopping, but he could feel the grin creeping onto his face.

The Australian wasn’t done. Every time Lando went back to chopping or stirring something while paying attention to where the knife was, Oscar would sneak another kiss on the temple, the side of his neck, even the tip of his nose. Each kiss was quicker and more playful than the last, and each one left Lando blushing and giggling.

“You’re doing that on purpose,” Lando finally accused, trying to keep a straight face but failing miserably as he struggled to keep his attention on the task at hand.

Oscar grinned, clearly enjoying himself. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said innocently, leaning in to kiss Lando’s jaw this time.

“Stop,” he groaned, but he was laughing now, his shoulders shaking as he tried to push Oscar away with his elbow. “You’re really trying to distract me with all these kisses.”

“That’s kind of the point,” Oscar teased, but he took a small step back, watching Lando with that satisfied smile of his. “Besides, it's making you smile, and I like it.”

Lando, flustered but grinning widely now, rolled his eyes. “You’re the worst.”

“And you love it,” Oscar said, stepping back to the stove, though his gaze still lingered on his lover.

Despite his protests, Lando couldn’t stop the warmth that bubbled up inside him, his heart racing just a little faster with each teasing kiss. Even though they were simply cooking lunch, Oscar had a way of making everything feel light, playful, and filled with affection. And Lando... Well, he wasn’t complaining.

After finishing making and eating their lunch, they decided to unwind with a movie. Oscar had arranged the couch with pillows and a plush blanket.

As they settled in, Lando grabbed the remote and began scrolling through options, while Oscar sprawled out on the couch, patting the space next to him.

“Pick something good,” Oscar said with a grin, his arm extended in invitation.

Lando flashed him a playful look. “Oh, so now you’re picky about movie choices?”

“Hey, you took forever choosing last time,” Oscar teased, his eyes sparkling.

Lando finally selected a classic romantic comedy. He plopped down beside Oscar, immediately nestling into his side, savoring the warmth and comfort.

Halfway through the movie, Lando turned his head to look up at Oscar. Seeing the soft, affectionate expression on Oscar’s face made Lando’s heart swell. He leaned in to press a gentle kiss to Oscar’s lips.

Oscar looked at him with a surprised but delighted smile. “What was that for?”

“Just felt like it,” Lando said with a shy smile.

They continued to exchange kisses and playful glances, whispering comments about the film and sharing quiet laughter. It was a simple, perfect afternoon, filled with the kind of easy intimacy that came naturally when they were together; they just added kissing, to be honest.

As the second movie neared its end, Lando was feeling sleepy, his head resting on Oscar’s chest, and Oscar’s fingers gently tracing patterns on his arm. The peaceful atmosphere was punctuated only by the soft sounds of the film and their occasional murmurs of affection.

When the credits rolled, Oscar gave Lando a kiss on the forehead and whispered, “I’m really glad we took this time together.”

Lando stirred slightly, blinking sleepily, clearly ready for a nap. “Me too, Osc. Me too.”

They stayed like that for a while longer, Lando napping quietly while the Australian was reading a bit, enjoying the quiet and closeness, savoring the contentment of simply being in each other’s arms.

As evening settled in, and after a takeout order from their favorite place, Oscar and Lando found themselves curled up on the couch again. But this time, it was Oscar who had his head resting comfortably on Lando’s lap, his eyes half-closed in contentment. The Brit was gently running his fingers through Oscar’s hair.

He broke the comfortable silence with a soft, thoughtful murmur. “You know, I’m really glad we took these few days off.”

Oscar looked up at Lando, his eyes reflecting the warmth of the moment. “Yeah? Why’s that? Because you were hard to convince.”

He smiled, his fingers still gently stroking Oscar’s hair. “Because it’s given us a chance to just be us after all the tensions. I didn’t realize how much I needed this, to be honest. Just us, without all the chaos of the races, so thank you. It was a great idea.”

Oscar nodded, his gaze tender. “I’m glad too. It’s been nice, not having to worry about anything. Just enjoying our time together.”

Lando leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to Oscar’s forehead. “I’m also glad we’re clear on how this is going to work. I don’t want our relationship to affect how we are on track.”

The Aussie’s hand found Lando’s, their fingers intertwining. “Neither do I. On the track, we’re still the same, teammates and rivals. Nothing changes there. But off the track, we’re boyfriends and a team, no matter what happens on track, it cannot affect us off of it; we draw the line to personal and professional life.”

Lando’s smile was soft and sincere as he caressed Oscar’s cheek. “Exactly. I just want us to keep this balance, to support each other no matter what.”

His eyes brightened with affection, and he kissed Lando’s hand. “I’m here for you, and I’m always going to be. We’ve got this together.”

Lando’s gaze softened as he looked down at Oscar, his heart full of warmth. “I’m really glad we’re doing this. It feels right.”

Oscar’s smile widened as he relaxed against Lando’s lap, his head resting comfortably. “It does. And I’m excited about what’s ahead for us.”

They continued to relax on the couch, the conversation drifting to lighter topics as they shared their thoughts and dreams for their future. They eventually decided that it was time for bed, reluctantly leaving the warmth of their shared space on the couch to go on with getting ready for bed.

In the bedroom, Lando climbed into bed first, his eyes lighting up as Oscar followed, slipping under the covers beside him. The bed was large enough for them to stretch out comfortably, but they naturally gravitated towards each other.

Oscar immediately pulled Lando close, wrapping his arms around him. Lando nestled into his embrace, resting his head against his chest. They took their time, savoring the closeness, their bodies naturally fitting together.

“Today was really, really nice,” Lando murmured, his voice muffled against Oscar’s chest.

Oscar’s hand brushed through Lando’s hair, his touch tender. “It was.”

Lando looked up at Oscar, his eyes reflecting his affection. “Me too. I feel like I can be completely myself with you. It’s comforting.”

Oscar smiled, leaning in to kiss Lando’s lips softly. The kiss was gentle, filled with tenderness. As they pulled back, their eyes met, and they exchanged another kiss, this one a bit deeper, their lips moving together in a rhythm that felt perfectly natural.

Their kisses became a series of soft, loving touches, each one a silent affirmation of their feelings. Lando’s hands roamed over Oscar’s shoulders, tracing the contours of his body. Oscar responded by holding Lando closer, his touch equally tender as he explored Lando’s back and sides.

It gradually slowed down as they separated enough to nestle into each other to sleep. Lando snuggled closer, his head resting on Oscar’s shoulder, and Oscar’s arms held him securely, as if to reassure him of his presence.
