    An Ascended Astarion take on Bluebeard, dealing heavily in grief and obsession. Inspired by the single-act Béla Bartók opera, "Bluebeard's Castle" as much as the fairytale itself. The ending is tragic.

    Written for the 9/4/24 Wednesday writing prompt on r/onlyfangsbg3, "fairytale".

    This takes place post-canon, in what is essentially a bleak, Ascended AU of my long fic (https://archiveofourown.org/works/57819268). In that one, Astarion does not ascend, and he has a very different relationship with my female OC.
