Work Text:

Lois and Clark never really got to go on dates, if dates count as breaking in through government facilities, fighting 5th dimensional beings, and stopping AI robots from space. This time is different. Clark has always promised his girlfriend to a perfect date but no avail for good reason. Lois understands that.

This time it is going to be different because since Brainiac is gone, Metropolis is safe, and the only thing keeping them busy right now is catching the scoops for Perry or saving cats from trees. It hasn’t been this peaceful for a while and Clark is going to take advantage of that. For the past couple weeks Clark has been saving up to go on a romantic date at this really high end French restaurant in Metropolis: La Belle Époque. It opened up a month ago. It seemed to be up Lois’s alley.

   According to Clark.

Monday, Clark had surprised Lois telling her he had saved up enough money to have dinner at La Belle Époque. Lois was thrilled to know Clark would save for such a restaurant. All week Lois had been stressing over what she was gonna wear for such an occasion. Clark wasn’t stressed about what he was going to be wearing since he was already planning this for weeks. Clark was stressed because this restaurant has high status individuals coming to this restaurant day and night, Clark didnt wanna embarrass himself or Lois.

It was now Friday afternoon, Some of the employees were let off early. Including Clark, Lois, and Jimmy. Jimmy is going to visit Kara for the weekend at the Kent family farm. Lois was incredibly excited to go to La Belle Époque tonight with Clark. Clark had also mentioned he had another surprise up his sleeve as well when they got there tonight.

Lois was sitting down at the head of the table in the new paper morgue, typing away at her laptop. finishing up the last few sentences of her story before closing her laptop shut. Lois bent over to her satchel on the floor, shoving her laptop into her satchel. Lois got up to pick up her Swedish clover colored trench coat. As she was slipping her arms into the sleeves, there was a knock at the door.

   ‘Knock knock’.

The door had creaked open, letting the ceiling light of the hallway outside illuminate a section of the floor in the morgue. Lois turned around to reveal it was Jimmy standing in the doorway. “Hey Lois, are you finishing up?” “Oh yeah, I was about to head out” Lois said as she put her right arm into her sleeve.

   “Why?”

“Oh, no, I was just asking because I was looking for Clark, he’s supposed to be dropping me off at his parents house today before yall went to the restaurant.”. “Oh my god, I'm so excited!” Lois said while squealing. “Clark said he had a surprise for me as soon as we get there!” Lois was grinning ear to ear just by the thought of it. “Oooo, do you think he might propose?” Jimmy said with a smile.

“Clark said it wasn’t a proposal unfortunately, but besides, it's way too early for marriage.” Lois explained while waving her hand around. “Ok well how about I walk you out and see if we meet Clark on the way.” “Sounds good!”Lois straightened out her trench coat and put on her satchel then walked out the door of the new paper morgue with Jimmy.

Lois and Jimmy were chatting on their way to the elevator until they heard heavy footsteps running towards them. “Hey guys!” Clark exclaimed while clutching the strap of his satchel. “Hey Clark!” Jimmy responded back.

Once Clark approached Jimmy and Lois, he gave Jimmy a hug and gave Lois a small peck on the lips before hopping into the elevator. “Lois was so thrilled telling me about the restaurant you guys were going to.” “Really now?” Clark said with a smirk. Lois then started giggling, once lois started giggling, Jimmy and Clark started laughing.

   ’Ding!’

The final chime rung to indicate the three were now on the ground level. Lois, Clark and Jimmy walked out the elevator and exited the Daily Planet building. Once they exited the building Clark and Jimmy began to return to their respective vehicle to head back home while Lois began to walk. “Okay bye Jimmy! And I’ll see you tonight Clark!” Lois exclaimed with a smile.

Before Lois could take the first step over the crosswalk, Clark took hold of her wrist. Lois then snapped her head around in surprise. “I’ll pick you up at your place at 9, ok?” Lois stared at the gorgeous man in front of her for a few seconds before responding back.“Ok, I’ll be ready by then.”

   “Awesome.”

Clark said. Clark unlatched his large hands off of her wrist and was about to walk away to enter his car with Jimmy waiting inside, sitting in the passenger seat until Lois grabbed his snatched his thumb. Lois also had a quick question before they left. Clark turned around to hear what she had to say. “We’re still matching tonight right?”

After Lois asked she turned her eyes to the opposite direction of Clark, face turning rosey. “Of course, my love.” While Lois had her hand on his thumb, Clark grabbed her hand with both of his hands. Clark then proceeded to press a loving kiss to her hand. “I'll see you tonight.”

Clark thereafter slides his hands off Lois’s. At that point, Clark walked over to his car to go ahead and  drop off Jimmy for the weekend. Lois was just standing on the sidewalk speechless while others were passing by her. Lois in turn dug her hand into her pocket to make sure her house keys were on her. Once she felt the metal ridges of her house key, she pulled her hand out of her pocket.

   ‘Beep beep!’

That was the sound and many more Lois always heard walking to and from work. As the tanned woman was taking step by step on the white line painted crosswalk, she reached into her satchel and pulled out her AirPods. Once she reached the other end of the sidewalk, she leaned herself against a wall of a local bodega. She then unlocked her phone and went scrolling through her apps on her Home Screen until she found Spotify. Lois next found her favorite artist: Alice Lee, she clicked on her newest song: ‘Movies’, once she put on Alice Lee, she thereafter started walking home, block after block.

“Kara is so excited for you to be staying at my parents house for the weekend.” Clark began. “oh yeah i'm excited too.” Jimmy chuckled. “Ma and Pa are already making some apple pie and meatloaf for dinner and dessert.”

“I bet you’ll be having something fancier at that restaurant tonight though.” Jimmy snickered. “I'm hoping it's good, I’ve never had French cuisine before and neither has Lois.” As Jimmy looked out the window, more and more leaves and cornstalks started coming in bigger and bigger as they drove closer to the farm.

“So I heard you two were going to be matching tonight?” Jimmy said with a smirk. “Yeah, me and Lois are gonna dress up in velvet, we even went shopping.” “Ooo, that's fancy.” “Well it is a fancy restaurant, Jimmy.”

Clark said smiling while looking at the road. “I’m just hoping I don’t embarrass myself in front of everybody.” Jimmy glanced at him from the passenger seat, his eyes warm and reassuring. "I don’t think you would," he replied softly, his confidence in him unshakable.

Clark let out a small chuckle, his fingers tightening slightly around the steering wheel. “You seem to have more faith in me than I do.” “Well, someone has to remind you of what you’re capable of,” Jimmy said, reaching out to place a hand on his shoulder. Clark’s smile widened.

“Yeah, but I’ve never been great with public speaking. I can face down villains, stop natural disasters, and fly halfway across the world in seconds, but give me a room full of people staring at me, and suddenly, I feel like a kid back in Smallville.” Jimmy squeezed his shoulder gently. “You’ll be fine, Clark. Just stay calm.” Clark glanced at him, his smile turning grateful. “Thanks, Jimmy. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” Clark replied.

As they approached the farm, Clark began to smell the delicious waving scent of meatloaf cooking in the oven. They pulled into the driveway of their parents' humble home, and Clark took a deep breath, feeling the weight of fear settle on his shoulders. “I've always loved your parents' home, it's so cozy.” Clark chuckled. “Yeah, in the future, I wanna have a farm of my own with Lois.”

 —————————

“WHERE IS IT!” Lois was scrambling around her loft looking for her velvet dress that Clark had bought for her. It was now 7:59, she still needed to do her makeup and fix her hair, not like she had much hair to fix but stuff needed to be done, as well as taking a shower. “OH MY GOD!” A bead of sweat ran down the side of her face, stressing out over finding her dress.

Lois’s mind was racing, thinking what place she possibly had not checked in her loft. A lightbulb switched on above her head. Lois ripped open the doors of her laundry closet. There it was, her neck strapped dress. Lois felt so light when she finally saw her dress.

“Oh phew…” A sigh of relief blew from the tan woman’s mouth as she had finally found her dress. Lois then closed her laundry closet carefully. Lois checked her phone, it was 8:03, she really had to get ready. When Clark says he's going to be on time, he stands on it.

   On the dot.

—————————

Once Clark had said goodbye to Jimmy, Kara, Ma and Pa, Clark rushed all the way home to get himself ready for his date. While carefully gripping his steering wheel, a notification on his phone in the passenger seat where Jimmy once sat binged. Clark was too focused on the road to notice it. The notification was from the weather app. “WEATHER WARNING: THUNDERSTORM AT 12 IN METROPOLIS, BEWARE.”

Once Clark got home, in the blink of an eye he was already at his front door. Clark with shaky hands scrambled in his satchel looking for his house keys. Once felt the cold metal feeling of his keys he yanked it out of his satchel. Clark was gripping his keys so hard he was about to break it in half. Clark thereafter shoved his keys into the bottom and and top lock in seconds before running into him and Jimmy’s apartment.

Clark in turn started stripping everything he had on and rushed himself into the shower. Meanwhile at Lois’s place, the tanned woman felt such peace of mind, she took a shower, brushed her teeth, brushed her pixie cut and was now putting on her makeup. Lois was standing in front of her bathroom mirror with her makeup bottles, tubes, tubs, pallets, and brushes scattered around her sink. Lois doesn't put on Makeup unless it's for special occasions, like the gala her, Jimmy, and Clark arrived at a couple months ago.

   ‘Ding!’

Right now she was stroking her makeup brush across her face, applying a shimmering blush to her cheek bones. At that point Lois got a notification from her phone. Lois then places her makeup brush on the side of her porcelain sink to check her phone. The phone sensed her presence before it lit up displaying her Notification Center. The top notification: from “Smallville”.

Lois unlocked her phone and opened up the message. “Hey baby, how are you❤️❤️.” Lois clicked on the space bar and typed away her response. “I'm good just doing makeup❤️.” “ok good because i'm at your door rn.”

   ’knock knock!’

Lois snapped her head around once she heard Clark knocking on her door. “It’s open!” Once Clark heard Lois, he turned her doorknob to open her front door. Once Clark stepped inside her home his eyes started to wander around her loft. “This place is really big…” Clark mumbled under his breath.

Clark was wearing a rich velvet turtleneck under a deep black fitted Blazer. The fabric catches the kitchen light softly, giving a subtle sheen over the turtleneck. Two out of the three buttons on his blazer were undone, giving a slightly relaxed, yet polished appearance. His black pants are colored with a deep black as well and well fitted, made of a smooth material. For footwear Clark has chosen black dress shoes, the overall look is both sophisticated and modern.

“Just make yourself at home, ok!” Lois exclaimed from the bathroom. Once Clark heard his girlfriend, he sat on her couch and grabbed the remote to watch something to pass the time while Lois was getting ready. 10 minutes has passed. Lois shoved all of her makeup supplies into her makeup bag and quickly ran to her closet to grab her velvet shoes.

While Clark was relaxing on the couch watching a show on Lois’s tv, he heard footsteps down the stairs. Clark grabbed the remote and paused the show he was watching. Clark set his remote down and waited patiently for who was coming down the stairs. Then there Lois was. Clark was in awe.

Lois descends her staircase with graceful measured steps. Her dress is a deep luxurious velvet that clings elegantly to her every curve, its texture catching the soft light of the living room. The dress is ankle length, accentuating her silhouette, and has a neck strap that draws attention to her neck line. Around her cleavage, a delicate border of white lace softens the look, adding a touch of femininity and contrast against the deep color of velvet. As Lois continues down the stairs, the dress reveals a thigh-high cut, adorned with velvet ruffles that flutter slightly with her movement, adding a playful yet sensual element to her ensemble.

Her velvet stilettos  match her dress perfectly, elongating her legs and making each step deliberate and poised. Clark, still sitting on the sofa, his gaze fixed on her with admiration and awe. The room is quiet, save for the faint sound of her heels on the steps, as she defends closer to him, every detail of her outfit exuding elegance and allure. The soft lighting in the room casts a warm glow on her as she moves, highlighting the luxurious texture of the velvet and intricate lace detail. Clark’s eyes trace every inch of her descent, captivated not only by her beauty but by the way she carries herself with effortless coincidence.

“Wow….”  Clark was speechless. Clark’s gaze was filled with nothing but deep love for his gorgeous girlfriend. Lois smiled softly at Clark's reaction, feeling a mix of pride and affection. She reached the bottom of the stairs and paused for a moment, letting the silence stretch between them. The way he looked at her, as if she was the only person in the world, made her heart flutter.

“You like it?” Lois asked, a playful grin tugging at the corners of her lips. Clark finally stood up from the couch, taking a few steps towards her. “You look…stunning,” he said, his voice filled with sincerity and admiration.

He reached out, gently brushing his fingers along the lace at the neckline of her dress. “Absolutely breathtaking.” Lois’s grin widened, and she took a small step closer, closing the distance between them. “You don't look too bad yourself, smallville,” she teased, her voice light and flirtatious. Clark chuckled, his hand moving to the small of her back, pulling her closer.

“I think we might be the best dressed couple in the city tonight,” he murmured, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead. Lois tilted her head up, meeting his gaze. “I was hoping you’d like it,” she said with a wink. “Are you ready to head out?” Clark nodded, but his eyes lingered on her for a moment longer.

“Yeah…but if I'm being honest, it's hard to want to go anywhere when you look like that.” Lois laughed, the sound light and melodic. “Well, we can't stay in all night. We have reservations, and besides, I wanna show you off too.” Clark smiled, finally stepping and offering her his arm. “Then let's go make the city jealous.”

Lois slipped her arm through his, and together they headed toward the door, ready to head to the event hall as the picture-perfect couple, leaving behind the warmth of her cozy loft for the glittering allure of the city lights. As they stepped out into the cool night air, the city lights twinkled above them. Clark opened the car door for Lois, and she gracefully slid into the passenger seat, smoothing her dress as she settled in. He walked around to the drivers side, and with a smooth motion, started the engine. The car hummed to life, and Clark expertly guided it through busy streets.

For a few moments, they drove in comfortable silence, the cityscape passing by in a blur of lights and shadows. The soft sound of jazz music filled the car, adding to the sophisticated ambiance of the evening. Lois gazed out the window, lost in thought, until she felt Clark’s hand gently resting on hers. “Penny for your thoughts?” Clark asked, glancing over at her with a warm smile.

Lois turned to him, her warm chocolate colored eyes shining. “Just thinking about how perfect this night is,” she said softly. “And how lucky I am.” Clarks smile widened, and he gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “I'm the lucky one,” he replied, his voice filled with affection.

“I can’t believe I get to do this with you.” Lois chuckled, a hint of playfulness returning to her tone. “You mean, you can’t believe you get to show up to a fancy event with the best-looking woman in the room?” Clark laughed, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “That too,” he said.

“But really, I’m just happy to be with you tonight.” Lois’s heart fluttered at his words, and she turned to look at him, taking in the way the streetlights illuminated his profile. “You always know just what to say,” she murmured, her voice filled with emotion. Clark kept his eyes on the road, but his smile was unmistakable. “It’s easy when it's true,” he said simply.

They continued to drive through the city, the atmosphere in the car warm and intimate. As they neared the event hall, the tall elegant building came into view, its grand entrance lit up with golden lights off the surrounding stained glass windows. The car slowed as they approached, and Clark pulled into a valet line, bringing the vehicle to a smooth stop. He turned to Lois, his gaze soft and full of love. “Ready to make an entrance, my love?”

He asked, his voice teasing. Lois nodded, her excitement bubbling up again. “Let’s go wow them,” she said with a confident smile. Clark stepped out of the car and quickly made his way around to open the door for Lois. She took his hand as she stepped out, the soft fabric of her dress brushing against his leg.

Together, arm in arm, as they made their way to the doors of La Belle Époque ready for what this night has in store for them. Clark and Lois stepped through the grand entrance of the restaurant, the soft glow of candlelight, background music, and the murmur of quiet conversation greeting them. The restaurant exuded elegance, with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and large stained glass windows depicting pastoral scenes of the French countryside. The rich scent of French cuisine—garlic, butter, and herbs—filled the air, making Lois's stomach rumble in anticipation. The maître d', a distinguished man with silver hair and a perfectly tailored suit, approached them with a warm, practiced smile.

"Bonsoir, welcome to La Belle Époque," he said in a smooth French accent. "Do you have a reservation?" Clark nodded, returning the man's smile. "Yes, under Kent." The maître d' checked his ledger with a nod, his finger trailing down the page. "Ah, Mr. Kent. Right this way, s'il vous plaît." He turned gracefully, leading them through the elegantly set tables, where diners enjoyed intimate conversations and delicate dishes.

As they passed the open kitchen, Lois caught a glimpse of the bustling activity within. Chefs in crisp white uniforms moved with practiced efficiency, their faces a mix of concentration and passion. A tall, jovial man with a handlebar mustache seemed to be orchestrating the chaos with a cheerful energy, barking orders in French while occasionally tasting a sauce or adjusting a plate. His name tag read Chef Gaston, and despite his authoritative tone, there was an unmistakable twinkle in his eye, as if he secretly enjoyed the whirlwind around him. The maître d' brought them to a table near one of the stained glass windows, where the light danced through the colored glass, casting a soft, warm glow over their table.

"Your server will be with you shortly," he said, giving a small bow before departing. Lois and Clark settled into their seats, the plush velvet chairs adding to the luxurious atmosphere. They exchanged a glance, both taking in the moment. It was perfect. A few minutes later, their waiter arrived—a young man named Henri, with dark hair neatly combed back and an eager smile.

His youthful enthusiasm was balanced by the professionalism in his manner, and he carried himself with a slight nervous energy, as though he were determined to ensure everything was absolutely perfect for his guests. "Bonsoir, monsieur et mademoiselle," Henri greeted them. "Welcome to La Belle Époque. May I start you with some water—still or sparkling?" "Still, please," Clark answered. "Very good," Henri said, jotting it down.

"I will bring that right away. In the meantime, may I offer you a look at our wine list? We have an excellent selection of French wines tonight." Clark glanced at Lois, who nodded. "Yes, please," she said. Henri handed them the wine list with a flourish. "I will return shortly to take your order. Please, take your time."

As Henri walked away, Lois scanned the wine list, impressed by the extensive options. "They really go all out here," she remarked, her eyes flicking over the names of regions she didn't exactly reconize. Clark smiled. "Only the best for you." He reached across the table, taking her hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Lois smiled back, appreciating the moment of connection in the midst of the elegant setting.

When Henri returned with their water, they had chosen a bottle of Bordeaux, and he swiftly opened it, pouring a taste for Clark to approve. After a nod of satisfaction from Clark, Henri poured two glasses and set the bottle on the table. "Have you decided what you would like for dinner tonight?" Henri asked, poised with his notepad. Lois glanced at the menu, then at Clark, who nodded for her to order first.

"I think I'll have the Coquilles Saint-Jacques," Lois said, her voice reflecting her excitement for the scallops dish. "And a side of the ratatouille, please."

Henri smiled. "Excellent choice, mademoiselle. And for you, monsieur?" Clark considered his options, then decided. "I'll have the duck à l'orange, with the gratin dauphinois on the side." Henri's smile widened.

"Très bien, excellent choices, both of you. I will relay your order to the kitchen immediately." He gave a small bow and quickly headed off, his step light and determined. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Chef Gaston was in his element. He moved like a conductor at the peak of his symphony, orchestrating the delicate dance of his kitchen brigade.

François, the sous-chef, was a serious, intense man, responsible for the sauces, while Juliette, a petite but fierce woman, was meticulously plating dishes with the precision of a surgeon. "François! The sauce for the duck needs a touch more orange zest!" Gaston bellowed, his voice echoing through the kitchen. François rolled his eyes but complied, grumbling under his breath in rapid French, something about Gaston's obsession with zest. Juliette, hearing this, snickered softly, but her hands never faltered as she added the final touches to a plate of escargot.

Gaston caught the exchange and raised an eyebrow, a sly grin playing on his lips. "Careful, Juliette, or I'll have you zesting oranges all night." Juliette shot him a mock glare, but the corners of her mouth twitched upward. "As if you could handle this kitchen without me." Gaston chuckled, turning his attention back to the dishes being prepared.

 "Touché, Juliette. Touché."

Back in the dining room, Henri returned with the first course. The scallops were delicately seared to perfection, arranged beautifully on the plate with a creamy sauce, while Clark's duck was accompanied by a rich, fragrant orange glaze. As Henri placed the dishes before them, he offered a small, nervous smile. "Bon appétit, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you." Clark and Lois exchanged a glance before diving into their meals.

The flavors were exquisite, each bite a testament to the culinary skill of the kitchen staff. The scallops melted in Lois’s mouth, the sauce providing a perfect balance of richness and acidity. Clark savored the tender duck, the sweetness of the orange glaze complementing the savory meat. As they ate, Henri hovered nearby, his eyes darting between tables, ensuring that every detail was attended to. His eagerness to please was endearing, and Lois couldn’t help but smile whenever she caught him peeking their way.

In the kitchen, the atmosphere had lightened considerably as the evening rush began to taper off. Gaston, ever the playful spirit, has started humming a jaunty tune, which soon spread to the rest of the kitchen. François, despite his earlier grumbling, found himself tapping his foot to the rhythm, while Juliette hummed along as she garnished another plate. “See, François, even you can't resist my charm,” Gaston teased, winking at his sous-chef. François just rolled his eyes again, but there was a hint of a smile on his face.

“It’s not your charm, Chef, its the wine,” he quipped back, earning a round of laughter from the kitchen crew. As the evening drew on, Clark and Lois finished their meal, each completely satisfied, Henri returned to clear their plates, his expression one of barley concealed relief as they praised the food. “Thank you very much,” Lois said warmly. “Everything was perfect.” Henri’s face lit up with pride.

“It was my pleasure to serve you. Would you like to see the dessert menu?” Lois and Clark exchanged a glance, both feeling pleasantly full but tempted by the thought of something sweet to end the night. “Why not?” Clark said with a smile. “This is a special night after all.”

Henri quickly brought over the dessert menu, his excitement palpable. As Clark and Lois deliberated, the kitchen crew continued their light-hearted banter, unaware that their hard work was being appreciated in the dining room. The evening was one of laughter, good food, warm memories—the kind of night that reminded Clark and Lois just how much they enjoyed each other's company. As they left a hefty tip and left money on the table after Henri took their dessert dishes. The two lovebirds were hand in hand, smiling at each other, about to leave until they heard a deafening,

‘BOOM’.

The sound was so powerful that the entire restaurant seemed to vibrate, the stained glass windows rattling in their frames as if in protest. Lois' instinct lay tightened her grip on Clark’s hand, her eyes widening with surprise and a flicker of fear. “What was that?” Lois asked, her voice carrying a note of concern as she glanced up at Clark. Clark’s kryptonian senses were heightened, and he could tell that this was no ordinary storm.

The intensity of the thunder, the suddenness of the storm—it was all too strange. He quickly scanned the room as he assessed the situation. “We need to get out of here,” Clark said, his voice calm but firm. “Looks like the storm is getting worse.” Lois nodded, trusting Clark’s judgment without hesitation.

They turned to leave, but as they did, Henri approached them, his usual eagerness replaced by a look of worry. The young waiter’s hands fidgeted nervously as he glanced between them and the windows. “Is everything alright, monsieur, mademoiselle?” Henri asked, his voice trembling slightly. Clark gave him a reassuring smile.

“Just a storm rolling in, Henri. We’re heading out before it gets any worse. Thanks for everything tonight—it was perfect.”

Henri seemed to relax a bit at Clark’s calm demeanor, but the worry didn’t completely leave his eyes. “Of course, monsieur. Please, be safe.” With that, Clark and Lois hurried toward the entrance, their steps quickening as the rain began to lash against the restaurant’s large windows. The maître d’, still at his post, gave them a polite nod as they passed, though his usual composed expression was tinged with unease as another rumble of thunder echoed through the building. Outside, the weather had taken a dramatic turn.

The sky was an angry, swirling mass of dark clouds, and the wind howled through the streets, sending leaves and debris skittering across the pavement. Rain was coming down in thick sheets, immediately drenching everything it touched. Clark quickly opened the car door for Lois, shielding her as best he could from the driving rain. She slid into the passenger seat, her dress dampening against the leather as Clark hurried around to the driver’s side. He jumped in, and within seconds, they were on the road, the car’s wipers working furiously to keep up with the downpour.

As they sped through the city streets, the normally bright city lights and bustling avenues were now deserted, the storm keeping everyone indoors. The rain hammered against the car roof, almost drowning out the sound of the engine. Thunder cracked again, this time closer, making Lois flinch. “This storm came out of nowhere,” Lois remarked, her eyes wide as she watched the chaotic scene outside. “I didn’t even see it coming.”

Clark nodded, his jaw set as he navigated through the rain-slicked streets. “Yeah, it’s a bad one,” he said, his tone serious. “We’re not far from my apartment. We’ll be safe there.” The drive felt longer than usual, the storm turning what should have been a quick trip into a tense journey. The rain was relentless, and the occasional flash of lightning lit up the darkened city, followed by the ominous rumble of thunder that seemed to chase them through the streets. Finally, they reached Clark and Jimmy’s apartment building.

Clark pulled into the parking lot, the tires splashing through the growing puddles as he found a spot close to the entrance. He turned off the engine and turned to Lois, giving her a reassuring smile.

“Ready to make a run for it?” he asked, a hint of humor in his voice despite the situation.

Lois smiled back, appreciating his attempt to lighten the mood. “Ready when you are.”

Both opened their doors simultaneously, dashing through the rain toward the entrance. The wind whipped at their clothes, and by the time they reached the door, they were both thoroughly soaked. Clark quickly unlocked the door and ushered Lois inside, shutting out the storm behind them. The apartment building was quiet, the usual sounds of tenants going about their lives muffled by the storm outside. The fluorescent lights in the hallway flickered slightly as another clap of thunder rolled in the distance.

The reason why Clark could use his kryptonian powers to quickly get to his door is because the rain will affect it.

Clark led Lois up the stairs to his apartment, their footsteps echoing in the narrow stairwell. When they reached the door, Clark unlocked it swiftly, and they stepped inside, the warmth of the apartment a welcome contrast to the cold, wet chaos outside. Lois shivered slightly.. “That was intense,” she said, running a hand through her damp hair. “Yeah, it was,” Clark agreed, moving to turn on a few lamps around the living room. The soft light filled the space, casting away the shadows brought in by the storm.

“Let’s just wait it out here. I’m sure it’ll pass soon.”

Lois nodded, wrapping her arms around herself as she glanced out the window, where the storm continued to rage. Despite the situation, she felt a sense of comfort being here with Clark. As Clark was removing his blazer he saw Lois wrap her arms around herself and quickly, Clark blur speeded himself over to Lois, turned her around before he asked, “are you ok? Are you cold? Here.” Clark ran over to his bed, grabbed his blanket and wrapped it around Lois. “It’s ok Clark im fine” Lois giggled.

Clark looked at her with warm eyes. “Looks like the storm isn't going away anytime soon…wanna sleepover?” Clark asked nervously. “I would love to.” Lois then got on her tippy toes and kissed Clark on the cheek.

Clark blushed slightly, at that point he cupped her cheek with one hand and gave her a loving kiss around the corner of her lips. Lois giggled and hugged her beefy boyfriend. Technically this was gonna be their first ever sleepover so they were both nervous about it all. “Well, if I am going to be sleeping over, could I have some clothes?” Lois asked nervously.

“Oh yeah sure…” Clark walked over to his drawer and pulled out the first thing he grabbed, his pink shirt. “Here you can wear this, hopefully it fits….” “Thank you Clark.” Lois said with reassuring eyes. While Lois walked to the bathroom to change Clark was pulling snacks out of the pantry.

After that he quickly changes out of his suit and into some gray sweatpants and a blue shirt.

Clark dumped the snacks onto the couch, setting up an array of chips, candy, and soda within arm's reach. The sound of the storm rumbled outside, making the windows vibrate slightly. A bright flash lit up the room, followed by a deep, rolling crash of thunder. Lois emerged from the bathroom, wearing Clark’s oversized pink shirt, the hem of it almost reaching her knees. She looked at the window nervously, biting her lip.

"You sure you're okay?" Clark asked, noticing her reaction as another clap of thunder sounded, this one louder than the last.

Lois swallowed, trying to play it off. "Yeah… it's just, you know… a little louder than I expected." Clark gave her a sympathetic smile and held out his hand. "C'mon, let’s get cozy on the couch." Lois took his hand and let him guide her over.

She sat down and tucked her legs under herself, sinking into the soft cushions. Clark wrapped the blanket around her again, his warmth beside her immediately soothing some of her nerves. But every time the thunder cracked outside, she still flinched just a little. They started the movie, some lighthearted action flick that Clark had picked to keep things fun. But as the rain pelted the windows and the storm raged on, Lois found herself paying less attention to the film and more to the weather outside.

Another loud crash echoed, causing her to jump slightly, and she instinctively moved closer to Clark, resting her head on his shoulder.

Clark glanced down at her, concern filling his eyes. "Do you want to stop the movie? We can do something else if it’s too much." Lois shook her head, even as her fingers gripped the blanket a little tighter. "No, I’m okay. It's just… thunder’s never really been my thing." Clark’s arm slowly slid around her shoulders, pulling her even closer.

"You’re safe here with me. I’ve got you."

Lois gave him a small, appreciative smile and snuggled into his side, her head resting on his chest now. His steady heartbeat and the sound of his calm breathing drowned out the chaos outside, and she found herself slowly relaxing.

As the movie continued, they absentmindedly snacked, reaching for chips and candy between scenes, though Lois seemed more focused on leaning into Clark's warmth than on eating. Every once in a while, Clark would look down at her, his heart swelling with affection, especially when she jumped slightly at the sound of thunder and then immediately tucked herself closer into him. By the time the movie ended, the storm had barely let up.

The credits began to roll, but Clark noticed something—Lois had gone completely still. He glanced down to see her sound asleep, her face peaceful, her hand resting lightly against his chest. Clark smiled softly, carefully maneuvering his arm from under her head. He gazed at her for a moment longer, his heart full. The question he’d planned to ask could wait.

She looked too content to disturb.

Gently, he slipped his arms under her, lifting her effortlessly into a bridal carry. She stirred for a second, murmuring something incoherent before settling back into sleep. Clark made his way to the bottom bunk, moving slowly to avoid waking her. He carefully laid her down, pulling the blanket over her small frame. Lois shifted, curling into the pillow, still wrapped in his oversized pink shirt.

Clark climbed in next to her, making sure she was comfortable before wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close. He could hear the rain pattering softly now, the thunder a distant rumble, but it no longer bothered him. Lois was here, safe and warm, and that was all that mattered. As he snuggled up beside her, Clark pressed a light kiss to her temple and whispered, "Goodnight, Lois." The storm outside faded into the background, leaving only the sound of their peaceful breaths as the night wore on.

The End.
