“Oscar.”
“Lando.”
“If someone were shooting at me, what would you do?”
“Jump in front of the bullet, obviously.”
“So you love me, yes?”
“Lando, I won’t get into the freezing fucking pool with you.”
Lando groaned loudly and dramatically, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms.
“Oscarrr.” He pleaded, jutting out his bottom lip. Oscar rolled his eyes.
“I should drown you.”
“If it means you’ll come into the water with me.” Lando grinned childishly.
The two had each taken a few days out of their summer holidays to spend some alone time in Monaco together. It was the first time they would have several days completely alone together without the bombardment of press and the pressure from McLaren, and they were spending it wisely and freely. Lando slightly more freely than Oscar, something Oscar pretended to hate a lot more than he actually did. Why should he get in the pool, anyway? Oscar was perfectly alright with sitting back on a slightly uncomfortable pool chair watching his adorable boyfriend trying to impress him with his backflips into the pool (one of which Lando had nearly cracked his head open over, causing him to face much chastisement from the lifeguard). Lando’s pouting face made Oscar hold back a smile—the sun that was currently burning Oscar’s skin off had nothing on Lando. His Lando.
Oscar had clearly zoned out enough staring at Lando’s beautiful eyes (they shone in the sun so perfectly) not to notice the mischievous grin that passed across Lando's face.
”What’re you-SHIT, LANDO!”
Lando cackled, having splashed a significant amount of water onto Oscar from the pool. There was a humorous glint in his eyes, and a grin that was slowly disappearing as he realized that Oscar was standing up and rushing towards the water to splash Lando right back from the pool deck.
Lando giggled, and Oscar didn’t realize why until he felt himself being tugged downwards by the arm, feet losing grip on the cool tile by the pool. The freezing cold water hit him all at once, engulfing him. When he finally resurfaced, there was a downright murderous look on his face, though anyone that knew Oscar could see that there was no real anger behind his eyes.
”I seriously should drown you.”
To that, Lando only giggled softly and pulled Oscar closer.
”You can’t. I’m a mermaid, it’s impossible.”
”Ah.” Oscar replied, nodding sarcastically before pulling Lando in for a soft kiss.
“I love you.” Lando murmured, eyes full of pure adoration.
”I love you too, idiot.” Oscar replied, flicking a bit of water in Lando’s face.
They stayed like that for a moment before Oscar remembered he was supposed to be mad at Lando for pulling him into the pool, and he pulled away (with much protest from Lando) to get out of the pool quite ungracefully and change into a fresh shirt.
He grinned smugly as he saw Lando’s eyes in his peripherals, lingering over Oscar’s body before it was covered with an orange McLaren shirt. He could hear Lando’s badly covered sigh at that, which made Oscar grin to himself even more.
Oscar continued to watch Lando swimming around lazily, allowing himself to shamelessly watch his boyfriend’s arms which were covered in water droplets and glowed in the sun. Words could not express how grateful he was to be able to do that now, instead of just the several longing glances he would make a couple years ago. Now Lando was his and he could look all he wanted.
“You’re staring.” Lando murmured from the pool, smiling softly.
“Mm.”
“It’s creepy, I could report you.”
“Worth it, I’ve got an excellent view from here.”
At that, Lando went a shade slightly pinker than his sunburn (Oscar had TOLD him to put on more sunscreen), and pouted slightly. That was cute.
“I’m bored, I want ice cream.”
“You’re such a child.”
Did Oscar pay for his ice cream and for a tiny key chain with a bear on it afterwards? Yes, yes he did. Was it worth it for the way Lando kissed him gently and whispered “I love you” into Oscar’s ear on the way back to the apartment? Yes, yes it was.
