Oscar Piastri got his first soulmark when he was twelve years old. He hadn’t looked at what the soulmark said before he showed his mother. He had only felt the tingling sensation crawling its way across his arm and caught a glimpse of the messy black scrawl. He hadn’t looked at the words.

That’s what Nicole read out to twelve year old Oscar Piastri on the thirteenth of November, 2012.
Oscar deciphered it quickly: I’m not okay.
And that was the moment that Oscar knew his soulmate might not be like the rest of the world.OR
When you lie, it appears on your soulmate's skin. Everyone else had normal lies: 'I did it, miss, I swear I just forgot to bring it in' or 'I didn't do it, it was her'.

Eventually Oscar couldn't hold it back anymore. "How does it work? The blood thing. The compulsion to drink it."
Lando blinked, clearly not expecting that question.
"I'm serious," Oscar continued, his nurse-brain fully engaged now. "Why does it have to be blood specifically? What about other bodily fluids? And what part of the blood are you actually consuming? The hemoglobin? The iron? Plasma proteins? Is it the stem cells in the bone marrow? What's the active ingredient?"
Lando stared at him for a moment, then let out a surprised laugh. "You sound like you're trying to write a research paper."
"I'm trying to understand," Oscar said. "Clinically. Scientifically. If this is real—and clearly it is—then there has to be some kind of mechanism. Some explanation."Or: Oscar Piastri is a dedicated and morally sound nurse and Lando Norris is a hundred-year old nervous wreck of a vampire, and Lando's been feeding on Oscar's favorite patient. And oh, they're neighbors.

“We’re soulmates,” Oscar breathes out, grip loosening. “You couldn’t, what, just tell us that?”
And Carlos is a weak man, because he is not sure how else to talk when Oscar is right there, fingers hot on his skin and nose inches from his. All Carlos has to do is step forward, and so he does – then he is kissing Oscar against the wall, his own fingers trying to reach out and grab, wrist burning with the long-yearned touch.
or in a world of soulmates, Carlos has two. Too bad Oscar and Logan already have each other, and he would be alone forever.
