Work Text:
"Peter! Come in!" Bobby invited as he opened the door of the home. "What's up?"
"Just thought I'd see how you were settling in and if you needed anything." Peter explained. As the Pack Alpha, Peter had his instincts prodding him to check on his Pack.
"You guys thought of everything," Bobby admitted. "The house is perfect for me and Fluffy..."
Just then, a definitely-not-a-song came from the back of the house. It was... definitely odd and something Peter had never heard before.
"What is that noise?" Peter asked, wincing as a sour note hit his ears.
"Oh, that's Fluffy," Bobby replied cheerfully. "He got muddy today on our walk and, well, I don't say it to his face, he's more like a cat and really hates to be dirty. So I had just put him in the shower when you knocked."
"Don't let me keep you..." Peter offered.
"Nah! He should be done by now," Bobby protested. "Come on back and say hello."
More in curiosity, Peter followed Bobby to what he knew was an oversized bathroom. They had designed all the houses for the members of the Pack with possible alternate forms in mind.
"Hey! Keep it down!" Bobby said as he went into the bathroom. "We've got company!"
Peter stuck his head into the bathroom. He was startled to see a not-quite-human naked young man. He saw an expanse of well-formed sun-kissed bronze skin, ears that were delicately pointed, and bright yellow eyes. The man winked saucily at Peter.
Peter blinked and it was Fluffy in the shower. Peter blinked several times. Fluffy pranced in the falling water.
"Hope you're clean now," Bobby said as he turned off the shower. "Let me close the door before you shake..." Bobby barely got the door shut before Fluffy gave a full body shake, spreading water all over the inside of the shower. "You done?" Bobby asked patiently.
Woof
Bobby opened the door and dropped a large towel over Fluffy. "Is that better? You would think you would know better than to go chasing after butterflies."
Woof
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Bobby grinned as he rubbed Fluffy down. "Yes, they're pretty. But then you end up full of mud."
Bobby led a damp Fluffy and Peter out to the living room.
Peter knelt carefully on one knee, to be at eye-level with Fluffy. Fluffy gamely sat in front of Peter, returning the steady look. After a long moment, Peter nodded and stood.
Woof
"You've been taking care of him for a while," Peter said. "So keep up the good work."
Woof
Peter shook his head, not quite understanding but accepting whatever Fluffy chose to do.
"Do let me know if either of you needs anything," Peter said, looking up to include Bobby as he stood. "Stiles and Derek are organizing a Pack dinner on Sunday. They'll let you know what time."
"That's great!" Bobby said. "Thanks for stopping by."
"Any time," Peter replied with a wave.
On the way back, Peter decided Fluffy was entitled to his own secrets. For now.
