Chapter Text
Hawks was out on a nightly patrol, he preferred them, the night was quiet and peaceful, it was colder than the day, which felt nice when your soaring through the air
The peace was soon disturbed when he heard an avian screech, it sounded like a cry for help, and it sounded young, hawks instincts kicked in and made his way towards the sound.
His eyes widened in shock as he saw two men, one holding a small child down on the ground, the other grabbing onto the kids wings and cutting the bottom of them- at an attempt to..he felt his stomach turn, watching the small boy squirm around with sniffles sobs and the occasional yelp, they were clipping him, and doing a horrible job at it as he watched the ends of his wings grow red from blood.
Hawks couldn’t stand there much longer, red feathers shooting at the two men, slamming them into the ground, knocking them out, before he walked over the the small, trembling boy.
“Hey there little bird, it’s alright now.”
He crouched down to see the small boy better.
“Can I pick you up?”
The boy shakily nodded, prompting hawks to slowly and gently grab the small male and pulling him into his arms before standing up, he could feel every tremble the boys body made, and hawks couldn’t help but feel a sort of protectiveness over him.
He watched as the boy slowy attempted to wrap himself in his wings, but it was to no use as he let out a wince trying to move them.
“There there little bird, don’t try moving those right now.”
He moved one of his own wings, softly placing it against the boy, looking back over at the men, beginning to drag them with a few of his feathers, walking down to the station.
As he walked into the station, he looked down at the small boy once more now that there was light, he had soft green wings, the ends freckled like his skin, not only that he had dark green hair, which was fluffy and Curly.
“Hello hawks?”
Hawks looks up to see tsukauchi, standing there curiously
“I have two knocked out criminals outside, but i wanted to talk you you about this guy.”
He moved his wing, revealing the green haired kid and his bloodied wings
“Some dudes were beating on him and clipping his wings.”
Tsukauchi walked closer.
“We could put him in foster care, but you know how that goes, then again there’s a chance the hero commission would want him, but we both don’t want that.”
The man explained.
“What if I took him on for a few days..just to see how it goes?”
Tsukauchi looked dumbfounded for a moment
“Are you sure?”
Hawks nodded reassuringly
And that’s how hawks ended up with a kid in his apartment, gosh what was he thinking, he couldn’t leave the young bird to fend for his own, that was obvious. His thought were interrupted as he turned on the faucet to the bathtub, What kind of water temperature does the little bird like? Hawks for one likes a nice warm shower..maybe lukewarm? Yeah, we’ll start with that.
He got up and left the bathroom, walking back over to the couch, watching the small boy examine is injured wings.
“Hey bud, why don’t we get you in a bath, alright?”
The boy turned to look at him, then nodded, hawks reached down and ruffled his fluffy hair a tad before leading him to the bathroom, helping him get out of the oversized t-shirt he was wearing and into the bathtub, hawks sat against the tub, just to make sure the little bird didn’t get in any trouble, he noticed the way he avoided placing his wings in the water.
“Little bird, i know your wings are sore, but i promise the water will help them feel better, and clean!”
The green haired boy thought for a moment, hesitantly dunking his wings under the water.
soon enough hawks was helping dry off the kid with a towel, getting up and leaving the room to grab one of his shirts, making his way back into the bathroom and helping him put it on, then walking
him back over to the couch, sitting him on his lap.
“Let’s take care of these wings, is it alright if I touch them?”
The boy nodded, and to that Hawks gently pushed his wings to the side, looking at where the wings connected at his shoulder blades, there was a bit of bruising but nothing too bad, he then extended one of the wings, slowly going through each feather and preening any pin feathers the boy had, which gave him some coos in return.
“Do you have a name little bird?”
“I-Izuku”
Hawks was shocked a bit, finally hearing the young boy talk, but quickly shook it off as he began to work on the boys other wing.
“Izuku huh? I will say it definitely fits you little bird!”
Izuku let out a chirp
“How about this, when you’re wings heal up and re-grow, I teach you how to fly?”
The boy turned his head
“Yes please sir!”
Hawks smiled
“You can call me keigo”
The boy nodded.
Sometime in the middle of the night hawks- keigo, felt something climb into his bed and huddle nex to him, the things was warm, baby bird.. he covered the young boy with his wing, dozing back off till the morning
