They could have a baby together that looks like Jon— his brown skin, and all that dark hair, black waves like his that curl up at the ends. His intelligent eyes, his wry smile, his long fingers, his pretty face, his cutting charm. It’s a hell of an inheritance.
If Martin can have— everything he’s too goddamned terrified to want, and not selfless enough to stop wanting.
“Hurry back,” Martin tells him, and Jon smiles.
“I promise,” Jon replies, “I’ll be home as soon as I can.” He’s at the door again, but still lingering. “And you’ll—”
“—Text if I need anything,” Martin finishes, and Jon rolls his eyes, reaching for the door, faux-put-upon. “I will. I promise. Don’t worry too hard about me, Jon. I’m fine. It’s not like it’s the end of the world.”
Jon points at him, halfway out the door. “That’s still not funny.”
or: martin brings more back with him after the end of the end of everything than either he or jon bargained for. they still manage to figure it out together.
