Angie shivered, a cold gust of air hitting her face, blowing her hair back. She adjusted her hoodie, where it had previously been half undone it was now zipped all the way, though in reality, it did little to help fend off the chill.
That's just how cold fronts are, she supposed. It's a bit frustrating- it's not like she's in Unova. Cold weather isn't exactly common where she is. She definitely isn't prepared for it- and neither is her Pinsir, Jax.
It was just sad. Jax would normally walk alongside her- some would walk with Growlithes or Lillipups, but Angie had always loved bug types. Of course she would want Jax, her treasured ace, to walk alongside her. The weather, though, seemed to have other plans. Pinsirs are known to live in warmer areas, and the reason why is very simple- they can't move when it gets too cold. Yes, while Jax would normally trot along right at Angie's side, the cold weather made this an impossibility. Instead, he would stay in his Pokeball while Angie walked between buildings, and, if a bus was exceptionally warm, he might get let out then, too.
It was frustrating for Angie, who missed spending time with her friend, and it was clearly starting to effect Jax as well- he didn't like being stuck inside his Pokeball, and Angie could see why. If she was trapped in a small ball all day, she'd get pretty antsy, too. He had to get out! Stretch his legs! Move around a little! But the cold air was complicating things for the both of them.
When one day, on a bus, (which was sadly too cold for Jax to be let out,) Angie noticed something. Or, moreso, multiple somethings.
Jolteon in a scarf.
Rockruff with paw gloves.
Manectric in a little jacket.
These sorts of things, they were made for small, four-legged Pokemon. They were few and far between for larger Pokemon, (and usually intended for winged dragon types when they did appear,) and there were certainly not any for a Pokemon of Pinsir's stature. But, hey, what if Angie could improvise?
After finishing her classes for the day, Angie returned to the bus, and found it warm enough that she could reasonably let Jax out of his Pokeball.
"Pin?" Jax let out questioningly, stretching his limbs and flexing his horns as he looked up at Angie.
Angie smiled down at him, petting the spot between his horns. "We're just gonna make one little extra stop. We'll be back home soon."
"Siiiiir," Jax says, sounding moderately displeased.
"I know," Angie sighs, moving to carefully scratch right below one of his horns, which he seemed to enjoy, closing his eyes and leaning into the touch. "You'll like this, though. You'll have fun."
Angie and Jax enjoyed sitting together in the warm bus while they had the opportunity, though it didn't last all too long, as soon enough, the bus pulled up to the stop Angie had been waiting for. With a quick apology and one last pet, Angie returned Jax to his Pokeball. She'd make this walk as quick as she possibly could- she already took the bus as close as she could get, so it's just a short walk left. Just a little longer.
Finally, it came into view. A used goods store.
Upon stepping inside, Angie was immediately hit by blessedly warm air, and she quickly reached for Jax's Pokeball. Immediately upon coming out, he seemed happy about how warm it was, though confused about the location. He let out a questioning noise, using an arm to gesture to the entirety of the store, as though to ask what's up with this?
"Surprise!" Angie smiles, also reaching out, showing off the store as if it was a new car on a Unovan gameshow. "We're buying you clothes!"
"Pin?!" Jax asks, seeming surprised.
"We need to get you some warm clothes," Angie tells him, "so that you can hang out even when it's cold."
"Pins-sir?" Jax questions.
Angie glances away a bit nervously, though still, she smiles at him. "Well, no, they're human clothes. They don't really make Pokemon clothes that would fit you," Angie explains. "But it's okay! We'll find something really cute for you!"
"Pi-pin," Jax says, pressing it's horns into Angie's side. Not clamping down, just a gentle headbutt, as though in imitation of a nuzzle.
Angie chuckles, petting the bug type's head. "I love you too, buddy. Let's get you something warm to wear."
