But sometimes Bill felt like Lee did know. Somewhere deep down. Knew that Keefer's been nothing but devoted to him, worshiping the ground the younger man walked on. Knew that Bill’s words were just lies. The look that the bounty hunter gave him during those rare moments of clarity was cold, nearly hateful. And it made Bill’s heart sink every damn time wondering if the moment has come and it’s time to pay his dues. But that look never lasted long. Eventually, Lee’s expression would soften, shifting into something desperate, something needy—and Bill was all too eager to give the younger man whatever he asked of him.
