Work Text:

Taehyung thinks he has it all. Everything. From anxiety to severe self-diagnosed depression. Everything. At the age of twenty-two, as a second-year degree student (in physics), he has gained numerous amounts of pain (mentally) with how famous he is. Right, you need to know what Taehyung is to know why he thinks about all of this on a Tuesday afternoon laying on this grass that’s definitely ruining his blue checkered shirt.

Taehyung is an epitome of beauty, he shines like a sun, a beautiful flower (his mom says so), and just a little /little/ bit famous in the college. Famous as in he could walk past you and you’ll feel like you’ve just entered heaven, with an alluring fragrance of the perfume Taehyung uses. It’s the one his friend bought for him from overseas. Back to our topic, famous as in he is extravagant (or so people think) because he wears designer brands, from shoes to socks, from tops to t-shirts, from jeans to loose fitting pants, it’s always some brand. And famous as in he’s a brat. The biggest one you’ll ever find. He’s known for his beauty the same way he’s known for rejecting people left and right, or dating older boys as changing clothes, or crying his way out to get things done. He’s really famous.

Anyways, today wasn’t a good day, considering he almost got called out because he wore old shoes. Well, it’s not his fault, the new ones are expensive as hell! Yeah, so, he was about to get called out by his one and only hater, but he saved the situation by saying “these are trendier than the newly released ones”. And ‘phew what a save’, is all he could think of. Though this isn’t the reason for his anxiety and self-diagnosed depression, nah, nope, not at all. No hater could ever make him this anxious (it’s a lie considering how he came here with real tears streaming down his eyes). It’s the fact that he’s poor, like really poor. You know those college students who barely make ends meet? And survive on ramen bowls? Yes, that’s Taehyung.

Taehyung is famous, but he’s poor. Not his family. No God, no. His family is financially stable, earning enough money to feed three children, Taehyung could’ve been financially stable too. But being the responsible elder kid, he refused to take his monthly allowances from his parents, and… he’s too prideful to work at a convenience store with all those thrifted designer clothes on. So, he literally only survives on the money he gets tutoring his juniors. There are only four juniors, so the money isn't a lot.

So basically, to sum this up, Taehyung is poor. It’s a secret no one knows, except his best friend, and now you know it so he expects you to keep it a secret too, and he’s into older men. Why was that information necessary? Well, you see… even Taehyung doesn’t know (sigh). Anyways, to lift his mood up, he decides to go on a date with himself, and do some window shopping at his favorite clothing brand; The JJK Design.

~~~
Taehyung looks around the mall. He is always fascinated by the entrance, decorated with big posters of various fashion brands. It’s a big one with red-white shades, big TV screens, shops everywhere he looks at and the best part? A food court at the topmost floor with a gaming arena. But he’s not here for that. Nor is he here to ogle at those sweet treats he can see from here. He’s here to visit his favorite brand. The JJK Design is on the third floor, situated right beside the escalator. He remembers it like the back of his hand, considering the amount of time he has window shopped here. He reaches the store without any difficulty (college students recognizing him here), and stares at the bright baby blue top displayed on the window. It’s a new collection, is what he gathers after staring at it, and there’s a similar crop top with a pink bow tie, that calls for him. And without thinking much, he enters the shop.
He doesn’t waste any time as he goes to grab the top with his size. The top enchanted him, called him in only for him not getting one in his size. He heaves out a frustrated sigh, pulling on his hair as he looks around to see if anything catches his eyes. Literally nothing in this store is as appealing as this top is. He takes a deep breath, almost about to leave when his eyes fall on something. Some shiny object that lies just below the clothes rack. At first Taehyung tries to ignore it, thinking it’s some random object that he shouldn’t be touching, though unfortunately curiosity gets the best of him as he walks towards the shiny thing-y. Once he reaches a little bit closer to the object, he realizes it is some type of a card, maybe a business card. He crouches down a bit to get a better look at the object, and once he registers what the card is about his eyes are blown wide.
It’s not a simple card. He has seen this one specific card in so many k-dramas. But seeing it in person makes it unbelievable. His eyes are still as wide as saucers, as he reaches forward to pick up the card, and feels the weight of it in his hand. It’s as light as a feather, and as smooth as silk, easily slippy in his hands. He takes a good look at it to confirm if it’s what he thinks it is and his mind isn’t playing games with him after watching those tons of k-dramas. Once he’s sure that it’s what he thinks it is. It is a black card. A black credit card, a card that has no limit.  He quickly pockets the card, standing up abruptly, almost hitting his head on the racks, when one of the workers comes to his rescue.
“Sir, do you need help?” She asks, wide eyes. Taehyung looks at her horrified, hoping she didn’t catch him, picking up the card.
He picks up the nearest t-shirt he finds, “found it.” He shows it to the worker, smiling sheepishly as he runs into the dressing room, taking deep breaths.
“Can you believe my luck?” Taehyung talks to himself in the mirror as he keeps staring at the card in his hand, “fuck, should I use it?” He spins around, and then pinches himself to make sure this isn’t a dream, and he really has a black credit card in his hand. “This is a dream come true,” Taehyung speaks, as he keeps looking at the card, delicately pocketing it as he tries on the t-shirt he had abruptly picked up. He grimaces at the color, but it fits perfectly on his body. He decides he will buy this t-shirt in a different color if he doesn’t find the crop top he’s been looking for. But alas, when he checks the price of the t-shirt, his eyes wobble up. It’s sixty thousand won, and there’s no way he can afford this. But wait— isn’t there a – Taehyung shouldn’t. He shakes his head disapprovingly, “You shouldn’t be greedy, Taehyung-ah.”
So he decides to give up on the t-shirt, and the crop top, along with this credit card which he’s about to leave in this dressing room. However, he’s interrupted by a message on his phone, it’s from the bank and he takes a deep breath before opening it. If Taehyung wasn’t crying before, he surely cries now. It’s a due date, not just any but about his student loan that he needs to pay, or they’ll have to take legal actions against him. This is really the worst day, Taehyung deduces. And that’s exactly when his eyes travel to the black credit card, lying on the small table there. Using it once wouldn’t cause any trouble, would it?
That’s how an hour later, Taehyung exits The JJK Designs, with three shopping bags in his hands. He didn’t want to shop much, but in the guise of testing the card, he bought all the stuff. Though sadly, he wasn’t able to buy the crop top.
~~~

“Jungkook, your phone has been buzzing constantly man.” Namjoon complains from the couch as he takes a sip of his martini

Jungkook sighs as he bends forward to pick up his phone from the centre table, “I might throw this device away, constant work has fucked me up.” He unlocks his cell as he scrolls through the countless notifications that he has been getting. Some are from his Instagram account, some from his secretary telling him about the success of their new launch, and some are from the bank. He furrows his eyebrows in suspicion as he opens those texts and reads out the amount that has been debited from his account in the past twenty-four hours. “Holy shit!”

“What’s up?” Namjoon asks, almost unfazed as he scrolls through his phone and sips his drink. “Did your company suffer a loss? Would be so hilarious to see The JJK Design go down.” Namjoon laughs loudly but shuts up instantly as he receives a glare from Jungkook.

“There’s a huge amount of purchase from my credit card.” Jungkook shows the messages to Namjoon, “but I clearly remember not using it since the previous morning. What the fuck?” Jungkook gets up from the couch, removing his wallet from his pocket and desperately searching for his black card. “Fucking hell, it’s not here!”

“Did you lose it?” Namjoon asks, unbothered.

“Definitely.” Jungkook sits back down, holding his face in his arms, screaming loudly, “fuck my life!”

Namjoon laughs loudly as he leans back, resting his head on the headrest. “Someone’s using the CEO’s card for their own needs. This is so funny.” Namjoon says, nonchalance dripping from his voice.

Jungkook ignores him as he calls the bank to tell them to block his credit card.

~~~
Taehyung is back in his favorite store as he wants to buy one last thing before he returns the credit card back. He has already spent a lot. Yesterday after exiting the same shop, he’s in right now; The JJk Designs, he went to have the best barbeque food of his life. The barbeque owner had given him a onceover when he was paying the bill with the black credit card. Next, he had shopped for some footwear, he almost bought like five of them because he liked it too much. Then he had bought exquisite groceries for himself and paid six months advance rent. And even after all the groceries, he settled to order from some four-star restaurant near his apartment building.
This morning, he had his breakfast in the Finest Cuisine restaurant. One owned by rich old money, served him delicious food from rice to fish. He had moaned at the taste and once done took a cab towards the mall. Now, he’s here to see if they have that pretty crop top, he liked so much yesterday in his size. And he’s over the moon when he finds it with his size. He skips his steps as he walks towards the cashier, who’s different from yesterday. “Just this,” Taehyung keeps the top on the marbled counter, as he smiles widely at her.
She matches his energy giving him a dazzling smile, “it will be eighty thousand won sir.”
Taehyung removes his (nope) credit card from his pocket as he hands it to the cashier. She quickly takes it as she begins to tap the card on the small machine, but the payment never goes through. Taehyung looks at her still smiling, “is something wrong?” He asks, faux worry lacing his tone. What could go wrong with a black credit card anyways?
“Nothing sir, just give me a moment, I think something’s wrong with our machine.” She says quickly, and without waiting for Taehyung’s response she runs in the back.
Taehyung taps his foot, waiting impatiently for the last fifteen minutes as the cashier takes her sweet time. He looks around the shop and sees it's almost empty, well considering it’s still early in the morning, it should be this vacant. He’s looking at the tops displayed on the glass walls beside the doors, when it opens with a loud thud making Taehyung jump in surprise. The one who walks in, is a very well looking man, a few years older than Taehyung. He has a good physique, he wears all black and his hair is tied in a man bun. Taehyung is in a daze, as he's busy admiring the man’s sleeve tattoo, he doesn’t register the man walking towards him and talking to him.
“It’s you!” The handsome man chortles. “You look young!”
It takes a solid minute for Taehyung to understand that this man is talking to him. “What?” His eyes shoot up in confusion.
“You’ve been using my black card, darling. Had fun?”
And just like that all the color from Taehyung’s face drains.
~~~

“I'm sorry.” Taehyung blurts out, he hasn't been this nervous before, ever. Not even when he was going to propose to his high school crush, who mind you, was a jock. It was easy to be honest, he just had to go, blurt out the words and run away. That was easy. Blurting out things has always been easy, just let those words fall and then run. Though if he runs right now, he'll be behind the bars. And he prefers the comforts of his soft mattress than the hardness of the jail floor.

“You’re a thief.” The handsome guy concludes, and Taehyung is so so close to slap the handsome face. Thief? thief? T-H-I-E-F? No fucking way Taehyung is a thief. Sure, he spent some (read: a lot) money on himself, but he needed it. He was going to return the card after he was done buying that damned crop top, it was the last thing on his wish list. Why accuse an innocent soul like Taehyung of being a thief?

“I said I’m sorry!” Taehyung stomps his foot, like a little kid who has been denied ice cream, but Taehyung is not a little kid, nor is this matter as simple as denying a kid ice cream.

The handsome man raises his eyebrow, his hand folded as he stares hard at Taehyung, “are you in a position to talk to me like that?” The man questions, and really, Taehyung really wants to slap him.

“I guess, I'm not.” Taehyung looks down, dejected, and as dramatic as it may sound, he fiddles with his fingers before looking up at the man with innocent eyes, “I'm sorry.”

“Alright, darling.” The handsome man breathes, it makes shivers run down Taehyung's spine with the way he speaks. “Pay me back, and you'll be able to walk out of here without any ruckus.”

Simple. Simple as fuck! But how will Taehyung even repay him when all Taehyung has right now is tons of designer clothes and bags, with tons of shoes and sneakers and tons of five-star restaurant bills. Oh, and like…twenty thousand won in his bank account? Or was it fifteen? Don't know, don't remember. “I- I can't.” Taehyung mumbles, making the handsome man hum in question.

“What?” The handsome man presses, Taehyung looks at the man, his eyes still holding the same innocent look, “what did you say, thief?”

AGAIN? He’ll say it again, he’s not a thief, “I'm not a thief!” Taehyung huffs, the handsome stranger only shaking his head, “I promise I was going to return your card!”

“But you didn’t, so now you pay me back.” the stranger mutters, finality in his tone. Taehyung has no fucking idea how the hell is he even going to pay this handsome guy any money back. He has two kidneys, and he loves them both. He has two hands, and they’re loved by him too. He has two fucking legs; he can’t imagine hopping on one if he loses them both. He fucking has nothing to offer this stranger. (Def not gonna return all the clothes he bought! WHAT WILL HE WEAR?)

“I don’t have money to pay you back.”

“Should’ve thought so before stealing.”

“BUT I’M NOT A THIEF MISTER!”

~~~
“So, you don't want to go to jail, nor can you pay me back, and you want me to let you go, am I right?” The handsome stranger asks. It’s unfair that in the last twenty minutes, this guy has asked him his name, his age, his college and what not. But when Taehyung was bold enough to ask the stranger his name, the man had given him a side eye (or more).
( “What is your name?” Taehyung asks, trying to give the other a polite smile. Well it’s only fair, he has been told that we should always have a smile while asking for a name.
“The fuck you’re smiling for?”
And just like that Taehyung had shut up, wiping the smile off his face.)
“You are right!” Taehyung nods his head, “But I’ll do anything,” doesn’t that sound wrong? It does, but who cares? He wants to get out of this situation. OUT OF THIS DAMNED SITUATION AND OUT FROM THE SIGHT OF THIS HANDSOME STRANGER WHO’S STARING AT HIM UP AND DOWN? THE FUCK. “Are you checking me out?” Taehyung speaks out, his eyes wide and hands immediately travel up to cover himself.
“Is there anything in you to check you out?” The handsome man looks at Taehyung questioningly. And thanks for asking, Taehyung takes full offense to that statement. What does this man mean? He looks fucking amazing, and there’s everything in Taehyung that can be checked out. But, he’s not in a position to talk like that.
“Nothing, I guess.” Taehyung sighs dramatically. But the stranger chortles, and that has Taehyung looking up at him in surprise.
“You do look good.” The handsome man comments, making Taehyung gay panic. Fuck, he’s gay since he was born, he knew this since he started speaking, he’s exaggerating, but who the hell cares, really? Anyways, the point is, he shouldn’t be gay panicking, this stranger just said ‘good’, nothing else. Get a fucking grip Taehyung.
“Thank you?” Taehyung is really not sure what he’s supposed to say, and it doesn’t make it easier that a handsome guy compliments him, giving rise to his fucking gay panic.
“Go on a date with me.”
And the fuck? Did Taehyung hear that correctly? Is he hallucinating? Did this man just ask him for a –“Date?”
“A fake one, you can definitely do that, if not pay me my money back.” The stranger further explains. And a date? Sure. Easy. But a fake fucking date? Never.
Taehyung has heard all about fake dates, hell he has read tons of tropes like this. In every story they both are bound to fall in love. No matter what. But what Taehyung lives in isn't fiction, it’s real life. And fake dating in real life? Never. “I can’t.”
“You can’t what?”
“Go on a fake date with you.”
“Then pay me back.”
“Fine, I’ll go on a fake date with you.”
There goes Taehyung's dignity.
(Crow squawking in the background)
~~~

The date– which the handsome stranger; Jungkook mentioned is in a month. A fucking month. And this guy wanted him to be prepared, so to go on one main date, they decided to have a few prior dates (to get to know each other better). So here stands Taehyung, outside an expensive looking coffee shop, at six in the fucking morning. He could’ve gone his whole life without knowing how a cafe looks at the hour where he sleeps peacefully on his comfortable bed. That’s not all by the way, the cafe is filled with the aroma of coffee, and Taehyung is two minutes away from puking.

He sits at the far end of the cafe, at a secluded table, scrolling through his phone.

“I thought you wouldn’t come.”

This has Taehyung look up at the voice; his doom; Jungkook, and sigh dramatically, earning an eyebrow raise from the other. “Morning.” it’s annoying how Jungkook looks good even in the morning. The CEO looks like he just came here after a morning run, given the t-shirt that clings to his body, and his hair that is messy. Taehyung thinks if only they’d met in some other circumstance, he might’ve taken a chance with this guy. But right now, the situation is fucking horrible and so is Jungkook (horribly sexy).

“Good morning, did you order yet?” Jungkook sits in front of him, keeping his phone on the table… and hold the fuck is that the new apple model he has been eye fucking the previous night? He should’ve just bought himself a new phone too whilst he still had that stupid card that got him into this situation.

“I did.” He nods his head at the other. Jungkook settles for an americano, which in Taehyung’s opinion is black, bland and basic.

“So, I’ll just brief you what this is about.” Jungkook starts after taking a sip of his coffee.

“Yeah, sure.” Taehyung says casually, as he sips on his latte, ignoring Jungkook’s presence to reply to the dm he got from his best friend.

“Firstly, drop that attitude.” The declaration that Jungkook’s tone holds, has Taehyung choke on his coffee. Before Taehyung can say anything, Jungkook raises his hand, indicating to him to stop, “I’m Jungkook, twenty-six, I own the company you stole from,” Jungkook smirks, making Taehyung glare at him. “My favorite color is probably black, I like bike riding, what else…” Jungkook leans forward on the table, as he holds his face in his hands, “what about you?”

“Okay, so Mr. CEO. I’m not a thief,” Taehyung raises his hand as soon as he sees Jungkook trying to retort, making the CEO raise his eyebrow at him yet again. “It’s my time to talk!” Taehyung almost whines, “So you already know I’m Taehyung, twenty-two, studying for a physics degree, and my favorite color is definitely blue, I’m sure about things unlike you. Again, I’m not a thief, call me that again and you’ll see me leaving our deal!” Taehyung huffs all that out in one breath.

He looks at the CEO who looks at him in surprise, “seriously?” Jungkook utters, Taehyung nods, “are you really in the position to talk to me like that? Hold on,” Jungkook breaths through his nose, getting up, startling Taehyung, as the CEO rounds the table and takes a seat right beside him, “If you refuse, you’ll be in jail. And I wouldn’t think twice before handing you over to the police. You have to come to this date with me, it doesn't matter if you like it or not!” Jungkook speaks in a tone akin to hatred, but that’s not it, for Taehyung, Jungkook sounds desperate.

“You need me, don’t you?”

“Oh, fuck you.”

And there goes Taehyung’s tiredness of waking up early in the morning.

(Bells chiming in the background)

~~~
The second time Jungkook asks Taehyung to meet him is at a five-star restaurant. Taehyung is in shambles, because he surely isn’t dressed properly to be sitting on those plush chairs. The interior is spectacular, decorated with dim lights, white-gold colors, with a bar at the front, and live music. There’s a live counter too, maybe for starters, Taehyung isn’t sure. He has to let the guy at the entrance know that he’s ‘Mr.Jeon’s’ guest, and it is only then he is escorted to a table, situated right in the middle of the restaurant, seemingly close to prying eyes. Taehyung takes a deep breath when he sees Jungkook already seated there, sipping red wine, as if he owns the damn restaurant.
Jungkook wears a red suit, too noticeable according to Taehyung, plus the seating in the middle makes Jungkook look extraordinary, in a good way. He can see those tattoos, from where the dress shirt is folded, Jungkook’s hair is parted to the side, neatly combed, giving him a sleek look. That’s when Taehyung notices the eyebrow and lip piercing. The fuck? Did Jungkook have those already, but if he did Taehyung would’ve definitely noticed it. It makes Jungkook look too young, suiting him so perfectly that all Taehyung can think of is the beautiful face and that he’s having a fucking date (fake) with this man.
“Hi.” Taehyung greets, as he sits himself down opposite to Jungkook.
“You’re here, I was starting to think you won’t come.” Jungkook offers him the menu which Taehyung gladly takes.
“Unlike you, I’ve tons of projects lying around.” Taehyung comments, as he almost cries over the prices of foods, though to not look like an absolute poor kid, he continues to skim through the menu, whose prices seem to get higher and higher as he turns the pages. Through his peripheral vision he sees Jungkook raise an eyebrow at the comment, unfortunately it’s the same one which is pierced, making Taehyung almost salivate over how handsome the other looks.
“I own a company.”
“Yet you still have time to spend with me on a Wednesday evening.”
“Aren't you even a bit scared that I might actually take some actions against you?”
This time it’s Taehyung that raises his eyebrow at him, “aren’t you the one who needs me?”
“You can be replaced.” Jungkook comments casually, raising his hands up to call for a waiter, “a steak, and for you Taehyung?”
“Water is fine.” Taehyung isn’t (is def) embarrassed to admit that he doesn’t have money, and even if he did, he’s not wasting it in ordering this way too expensive steak.
“He’ll take a steak too.” Jungkook tells the waiter, making Taehyung’s eyes go wide, “I’ll pay.”
“You don’t have to.” Taehyung mumbles, but he hears a chortle from the other.
“You bought clothes, paid your student debt from my black card, and now you refuse the steak from the same card?” Jungkook drums the table, leaning forward, a smirk present on his lips.
“Stop it, that was me in the past, this is me in the present sitting with an asshole boss, who doesn’t tell me why I am here.” Taehyung counters, puting the menu down with a loud thud on the table.
“About that,” Jungkook moves backwards as he fishes his wallet out of his pocket, removing a small card, and handing it to Taehyung. “That’s where we will be going.”
Taehyung takes his sweet time looking at the card, because the intricate borders have him on the edge. It’s a handmade card, and he’s very impressed with how beautifully one has crafted it, then he reads those words. “You’re welcome to attend the one-year anniversary party of Jeon Yunha and Kim Inso?”
“Yunha is my elder sister, Inso is her husband.” The wafting smell of meat indicates that their steak is here, the waiter placing their order neatly the next minute. “My family is on my back,--”
“Wait, so your family wants to meet your partner, they must’ve been on you to go to a blind date, and fed up by them you told them that you are dating someone, but,” Taehyung pauses, takes a deep breath, he gives Jungkook a pointed look, “there’s no one in your life, and considering you’re The Jeon Jungkook, you need someone to match your vibes, and that someone somehow happened to be me, and you took advantage of the situation, asked me, actually no,” Taehyung shakes his head, “ordered me to be your fake date, and so here we are.” Taehyung finishes, taking a big gulp of his own wine.
“How the hell do you know all of this?” Jungkook looks shocked to the core, making Taehyung snicker.
“This is what typically happens,” The nonchalance that drips out of Taehyung's voice, makes Jungkook visibly flinch, “it’s cliche, but true.”
“You’re fucking smart, beats me how you were dumb enough to steal from my card.”
Alright, enough. That’s too many profanities towards Taehyung in one fucking sentence. He’s heard enough of this stealing shit, he’s already very sorry for whatever had happened, he has apologized to this CEO many fucking times. It’s fucking unfair. Taehyung doesn’t know how he gets the courage to do what he does next, blames it on the wine. Red wine was never good for him, anyways. So, he does exactly what he should’ve done a while back, he takes the wine glass, and empties the contents entirely on Jungkook’s head. “Fuck you for calling me a thief.” He hiccups in between but that’s not the point. The point is Jungkook looks ballistic, making Taehyung snicker at his constipated face. If it was Taehyung sober, he would’ve been on his knees, begging for forgiveness. But this is Taehyung tipsy (read: drunk). “Red suits you.”
And saying so, Taehyung leaves the restaurant, leaving behind an angry Jungkook.
(*DUN DUN DUN* sound in the background)
~~~

Taehyung groans at the headache that certainly entered his morning without giving him any prior warnings. “Fuck.” He yells, dropping his head in his arms. He checks his phone, and surely there is a text message from Jungkook; you’ll pay. At first, Taehyung doesn’t think much of it, but it does bug him. Though what annoys him the most is the constant ringing of his doorbell. He unwillingly forces himself up, and saunters towards his door, being careful of not tripping and falling down, and banging his head on one of the furniture in his room. “Who?” He opens the door to a tall man, taller than him. Taehyung wishes he was this tall (sigh). Taehyung eyes him up and down, he doesn’t seem familiar at all.

“Kim Taehyung?” The man asks, Taehyung can’t decipher what expression he holds, considering the man is wearing sunglasses too big for him, and a mask which is pulled down till his chin.

“Yeah?”

“You’re under arrest for stealing money from Jeon Jungkook, this way.”

Taehyung is wide fucking awake now, and that’s when the event from yesterday fills in his mind, making sense of the message that Jungkook had sent earlier. Fucking shit, what did he do!

And there goes Taehyung’s sanity (if he had any).

(Sad music playing in the background)

~~~
“You liar, I almost had a heart attack.” He hears Jungkook snicker behind him, along with the bogus police officer aka Namjoon, Jungkook’s secretary. “Are you two serious right now?”
“Well, with whatever you did yesterday, I should’ve just called the real police on you.” Jungkook says seriously, making Taehyung give him a pointed look.
“You need me.” Taehyung concludes, “after what I did yesterday, I’m sorry for throwing wine at you, but you crossed your limits. So, what was I saying?” Taehyung roams back and forth in Jungkook’s office, which is like Americano, black, bland and basic. “Yeah, even after what I did yesterday, you made me come here, rather than handing me to a police officer. That shows!”
“Alright, I do need you.” Jungkook sighs, making Taehyung smile widely, they both ignore poor Namjoon, who calmly walks out of the room, “but because I’ve no other option. And I’m sorry for calling you out constantly, I won’t do that again.” The sincerity in Jungkook’s voice has Taehyung reeling back, but he’s glad they both have reached the same fucking page.
“Okay, I’ll forgive you.”
“But you still have to do the deal.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Taehyung.”
“Yeah, yeah I will, Mr.CEO.”
And there goes Taehyung’s cold demeanor (as if he had one).
(Birds chirping distantly in the background)
~~~

The next time they meet is when Jungkook comes to pick Taehyung up from his college. Taehyung to say the least is embarrassed as fuck. Because Jungkook fucking comes in a limousine, wearing a sky-blue suit, with two fucking bodyguards.

“Is he your sugar daddy, Taehyung?”

“Oh, isn't he Jeon Jungkook?”

“Who?”

“You know the CEO of that clothing brand?”

And the voices go on. Non-stop. Annoyingly enough Jungkook smiles at him smugly when he sees Taehyung walk towards him with a face close to bursting due to anger.

“Hi, darling!” Jungkook calls him, loud enough for others to hear. It makes Taehyung’s blood boil, if looks could kill, Jungkook would genuinely be dead with the glare he receives from Taehyung.

“Darling!?!?”

“Did that guy just call him, darling?”

“Oh my God, he definitely is Taehyung’s sugar daddy.”

Taehyung blocks out all the voices, as he enters the limo without a word. Thankfully, Jungkook had opened the door for him, now once inside the comfort of the car, Taehyung breaks. “Are you fucking serious?”

“No, I’m Jungkook.” The CEO snickers, receiving a pointed look from Taehyung.

“Very funny, Jungkook.” Taehyung rolls his eyes. “Why did you have to embarrass me there like that?”

“What? I never embarrassed you; I just wanted some fun.” Jungkook smiles, and annoyingly enough this small smirk of Jungkook’s makes Taehyung’s stomach do somersault.

“You’re embarrassing, now they’ll think I’m your sugar baby.” Taehyung shakes his head in disappointment, as he notices that they’re traveling towards the richer section of Seoul. Is Jungkook taking him to his house?

“In a way, you are.”

Jungkook receives a hit on his hand because of this.

“You’re annoying!”

“Apparently.”

“You’re not even denying it, oh my God.”

“Why should I when it is the truth?”

“Oh please, shut the fuck up!”

“Are you ordering me in my own limo?”

Taehyung shuts up at that, finding the trees of the posh area attractive.

(Birds chirping loudly and flowers falling from trees)

~~~
Taehyung has the same opinion about Jungkook’s house as the coffee Jungkook always has. Black, bland and basic. But he can’t deny that it’s huge as fuck. It’s thrice, no actually, cancel that, it’s fivefold the size of Taehyung’s humble abode. It has a huge dining table, a huge kitchen, a huge couch, huge ceilings, huge windows, huge TV, everything is huge. It makes Taehyung feel a little lost, he has never been somewhere that screams nothing but rich.
“Your house is–”
“Amazing?”
“Bland.” Taehyung mumbles, making Jungkook smile wide at him.
“You’re annoying. I like that!” Jungkook offers him a glass of water, thank God this guy has some sense, some manners.
“You’re annoying too, Jungkook, but I don’t like that, at all.” Taehyung huffs, taking a large gulp of water and coughing instantly at it, “Did you fucking add salt in it?”
“Might’ve.” Jungkook shrugs his shoulders in nonchalance, making Taehyung want to throw the water at his face, but he holds back. Remembering the wine incident, he doesn’t want a repeat of it.
“You’re so tiresome.”
“Oh, come on now, I’m the most energetic guy anyone could be around.” Jungkook takes a seat on the chair, and that’s when Taehyung notices the piano. “Have a seat, Taehyung.”
“You play it?”
“Sometimes.” Jungkook nods, as he strums some keys making a horrid noise, resulting in Taehyung to flinch.
“I thought you were a prodigy.”
“Oh I am.” Jungkook smirks, “I’m not gonna play anything for you though, however, if you’re meeting my parents, they’ll ask you about it, so now you know I play this,” annoyingly enough Jungkook presses a key again, “I love playing children rhymes, and some love songs.”
“Children rhymes?” Taehyung looks at Jungkook in shock, the other nods at him, “if that was all, you could’ve just said so in text messages, why trouble yourself by bringing me here?”
“What if they ask you where my piano is kept? Or what color is my sofa?” Jungkook asks with sincerity in his tone.
“Jungkook, I’m sure just because they have a dumb son, doesn’t mean your parents will ask dumb questions.” Taehyung snickers loudly.
“True, they won’t ask dumb questions, but we still should be pre– Did you just call me dumb?” Jungkook seems to get it after a sentence. After a fucking sentence, making Taehyung giggle at him.
“Might’ve.”
“You little shit.”
And that’s how Namjoon finds them both, in Jungkook’s large penthouse. Jungkook runs behind Taehyung, while the other says more words to agitate Jungkook. And like always, Namjoon walks out of the house, quietly, without being noticed by any of them.
(A distant song starts playing in the background)
~~~

Annoying but handsome CEO

are u up?

Taehyung squints his eyes at the message, what can a CEO want his help in this early in the morning? Don’t tell him Jungkook tripped and fell in a ditch while taking his morning run. That would be such a hilarious scene to look at. He would even take a video of it, actually fuck a video, he’ll do a boomerang. Watch Jungkook fall and stand, stand and fall, fall and stand on repeat. That would be so much fun.

Taehyung smiles at the messages that Jungkook sends after. Definitely a unique morning. A lovely morning after being complimented by a handsome CEO. Taehyung grins the whole time as he makes himself some tea, his eyes constantly staring at the ‘you’re gorg’ message. Taehyung must’ve really /really/ lost it.

Taehyung has definitely lost his sanity.

Definitely.

But the CEO makes his heart race like none other.

There goes Taehyung’s heart. Away to the annoying but handsome CEO.

(The song playing in the background can be heard more clearly now, can you hear it?)

~~~
“Somehow, black really suits you.” Taehyung tries fixing the button of Jungkook’s dress shirt, “can’t you button this up properly?”
Though Taehyung’s words fall on deaf ears as Jungkook is too focused on looking at Taehyung. Jungkook was attracted to Taehyung from the day he saw him at the shop, and it’s no news that he was smitten with the way Taehyung always annoys him or has a comeback for everything. He also loves the way Taehyung is so gentle, so soft, so likable, but tries to put on a mask so that no one can hurt him. He saw it when he picked Taehyung up from his college. Everyone said shit about him behind his back, but Taehyung didn’t think twice before helping the same person in giving them some notes. Taehyung is a fucking enigma, and Jungkook is a goner.
“There, done.” Taehyung says as he wipes the non-existent dust on Jungkook’s shoulder. Where does he get the confidence to do so from? He has no fucking idea.
Jungkook adjusts his stance, his smile widening. “So, does this mean I owe you one for the ‘fixing my shirt’ thing?”
Taehyung rolls his eyes but doesn’t suppress the grin that follows, “maybe. What are you going to do about it?”
“I don’t know, what shall I do?” Jungkook looks Taehyung in the eye, and that’s when he notices the distance between them. They’re both standing close, too close, breathing in each other's spaces close. Taehyung looks so fucking ethereal from here, and that’s when Taehyung does something that has the CEO weak in his knees. He fucking licks his lips, maybe a habit due to nervousness, but that’s something that makes Jungkook’s mind go hazy.
“Jungkook?” Taehyung calls out in a small voice, but Jungkook doesn’t reply too focused on the way the lips move to form each syllable of his name. So good, so perfect. “Jungkook,” he sees Taehyung calling out his name again. But Jungkook is fucking gone. He raises his hand up, closer to Taehyung’s face, as he gently tucks a hair behind his ear, making the other freeze.
“Are you both done, already?”
This voice has them move apart at a lightening speed.
FUCK NAMJOON for kissblocking Jungkook.
(Wait, is it me or the screen turning pink at the edges? Is the music getting louder too?)
~~~

It’s been a day and Taehyung worries a lot about Jungkook. The guy hasn’t texted him at all, after whatever happened yesterday.

Hey

You there?

Can we talk?

Taehyung huffs out, as his messages are ignored for a few hours. It irritates him to the core, so he decides to text Jimin.

Mimi

What?

Jimin’s messages have always been short and so fucking sweet.

Miss you

And jk is ignoring me

Mimi

Ceo chickened out?

Lmao

Shut up

Taehyung calls Jungkook again on the second day, but all of his calls are directed to voicemails. Taehyung almost cries at the ignorance he receives, but he’s not a baby. So, he waits and waits, and he keeps waiting until he decides that he would give Jungkook a lovely visit in his office.

(Sad violin in the background)

~~~
“Where’s Jungkook?” Is the first thing Taehyung asks Namjoon as soon as he enters the office building of The JJK Designs.
Namjoon gives him a hard stare, “in his office?”
“Are you asking me or telling me?”
“I don’t know?”
“Are you as annoying as your boss?”
“Maybe?”
“Oh, fuck off.”
Taehyung might get an aneurysm talking to this boss secretary duo. He walks towards Jungkook’s office. The reason why he is here? Jungkook has been MIA for three days. Three fucking days now. It’s irritating as it is, almost kissing Jungkook, and now instead of talking about it, Jungkook is avoiding him. He doesn’t knock on the door as he enters the office, going as far as opening it with a loud bang. Though he should definitely have knocked, because what he sees inside, makes his blood boil.
There’s some girl by Jungkook’s side, she leans forward, one hand on his shoulder as she watches whatever Jungkook is showing her on his computer. Jungkook doesn’t seem to mind her as he just laughs at whatever she says, it makes Taehyung want to throw a punch at his face.
Absence of three days. THREE FUCKING DAYS, and is this how he finds Jungkook. Fortunately, the sound of the door opening makes them both look up at him.
“Oh, Taehyung? What are you doing here?” Jungkook sounds surprised, pleasantly so, but Taehyung doesn’t care. It's good news that the girl has the decency to move away from Jungkook, though she still stands near him.
“What am I doing here? What have you been doing for the past three days?” Taehyung counters, he might just burst due to the frustration he has.
“What do you mean? Did you start missing me, already?” Jungkook snickers, adding fuel to the fire, but before Taehyung can say anything, Jungkook walks towards him and hands him his black card, “here. Go shopping for the D-day, it has no limit just like my love for you.”
“What?” Taehyung asks, confused, he sees the girl’s eyes go wide, and then hears a small snicker from Jungkook.
“Just kidding.”
And that’s what makes Taehyung go absolutely feral. “Fuck you!” He yells at Jungkook as he spins on his heel and walks out of the small cabin, leaving behind a shocked Jungkook, who follows him after a minute.
“Tae, Taehyung.” Jungkook calls after him, but Taehyung has no interest in whatever Jungkook wants to say. “Taehyung stop for a minute, will you?”
“What is it? Go and enjoy with that girl or whatever!” Taehyung yells back, slowing down a bit, resulting in Jungkook stopping him by holding his arm, which Taehyung yanks back.
“What are you even talking about?” Jungkook asks, visibly flinching with how harsh Taehyung sounds.
“Don’t act innocent now. I saw her leaning all over you.” Taehyung huffs, “if you already had a side chick, why would you want to kiss me, or give me a hope that you want to kiss me.”
“Side chick–what?” Jungkook breathes in, “there’s no side chick Taehyung. The girl inside was a designer, she wanted to see what I would want next. And I wanted to kiss you that day, only you.”
Taehyung stuns at Jungkook’s words, but he’s still mad at him for being MIA for three days, “so where were you?”
“I wanted to reach out, trust me. But I got really busy with work, I wasn’t avoiding you or anything, trust me. I had online meetings with the US designers too, and the time difference was making me go crazy.” Jungkook says honestly, but Taehyung is still mad.
“Whatever, I don’t care.” Taehyung huffs out, and sees how Jungkook deflates at his words visibly. Though it is instantly replaced by the stoic CEO face.
“Okay, whatever. See you during the D-day, I hope you don’t fuck up, Taehyung.”
“Don’t worry about that Mr.CEO, I will never misuse your fucking kindness.” Taehyung turns back walking out of that situation.
And that’s how, the tears formed in Taehyung’s eyes, falls onto his face.
(The pink on the screen turns to blue and the sad music grows louder)
~~~

“Jungkook, stop sulking!” Namjoon singsongs as he takes a seat beside his boss, keeping Jungkook’s coffee on the small table, receiving a frown from the other.

“If you’re here to annoy me, then I suggest you fuck off.” Jungkook comments, without looking up from his laptop.

They both are here at Jungkook’s house office, as Namjoon brings Jungkook some coffee, the CEO works on something on his laptop while sitting on the couch. “I’m here to bring you coffee.”

“Brought it? Now you can leave.”

Namjoon tsks at him, as he slaps the mouse out of Jungkook’s hand. “Man up, Jungkook. Go and apologize.”

“It wasn’t my fault!” Jungkook tries to take the mouse back, but Namjoon has the audacity to throw it straight at the door, “Namjoon, what the fuck?”

“Oh, isn’t your card limitless? You can definitely buy another one.” Namjoon chortles.

“You’re a nuisance. You’re fired, Namjoon!”

“Firing me? And who will you hire? Taehyung? Or yet better, that girl?” Namjoon presses, agitating Jungkook even more.

“That girl is nothing but a fucking designer!” Jungkook stands up, moving back and forth in the room, “Taehyung made a big deal out of this small thing, and do you know what he is doing? He has almost spent fucking millions on something I’ve no idea about!”

“Will it have been okay, if the positions were reversed? If you saw Taehyung with some girl? Or some boy?” Namjoon asks, standing up too, “I’m not saying Taehyung was right, Jungkook, he assumed and it was wrong, but the way you acted? You avoided him for three days after you guys almost kissed, why would you do that, Jungkook?”

“I had work!”

“Stop bullshitting, you had work, yes I agree. But you didn’t get a minute to least message him and tell him that you’re busy? You chickened out after that day, didn’t you?” Namjoon stands in front of Jungkook, making him unable to walk any further. “Didn’t you?”

“I did, I did okay? I agree I was wrong, but he assumed things and that hurt me.” Jungkook looks on the verge of tears, but Namjoon knows better. The CEO would never cry in front of him.

“Then go talk to him, apologize, tell him you were wrong, go and sort this out Jungkook, sort this before the party, which by the way is tomorrow.” Namjoon explains, walking out of the room, leaving a frustrated Jungkook behind.

“Fuck!”

(The birds have gone to sleep, no chirping anymore, the happy and sad songs are done…just please make up YOU IDIOTS)

~~~
Taehyung cries loudly in Jimin’s arms. Jimin is always told about things a little late by Taehyung, considering the time difference they both have. Jimin is in the states, for a masters degree, while Taehyung decided to stay here and pursue a career in physics or fashion, he has no idea. Also, crying in Jimin’s arms simply means crying on a video call.
“Cut the crap, Taehyung. What the fuck is wrong?” Jimin yells, making Taehyung whine on the cushion.
“Jungkook doesn’t like me!”
“Impossible, that guy is head over heels for you!”
“No, I saw him with a girl! He gave me his black card, and told me to go shop, look,” Taehyung averts the screen showing Jimin the tons of shopping bags lying around, “I didn’t do much.”
“You saw him with a girl?” Jimin stops walking, as he stares at Taehyung, “in a compromising position?”
“No, Jimin, no.” Taehyung sits up, “she was just looking at the computer screen while leaning over his shoulder.”
“Are you fucking serious right now?”
“She had her hand on his shoulders, and he wasn’t even answering me for the last three days.”
“Taehyung, what the hell? I understand Jungkook was wrong by avoiding you, but assuming things? That’s not you, baby.” Jimin tries, it seems he has taken a seat on one of the benches in the garden, “you should talk it out with Jungkook. He was definitely wrong, but you were too.”
“I know, but–”
“No buts Taehyung, today is the party. You will apologize to him, and explain yourself, understood?”
“I understand mom.”
“Taehyung, I’m serious.” Jimin warns.
“I know, I will talk to him. Today.”
“Good, love you.”
“Love you the most, mimi.”
“Also, Tae,” Jimin calls out just when Taehyung is about to hang up.
“Yeah?”
“You fucking overdid yourself with all those bags!” Jimin yells before hanging up the call, makingTaehyung’s eyes go wide.
“Did I really?” Taehyung questions as he looks around his room and stiffles a cry, “I fucking did!”
(Cackling in the background)
~~~

The party is grand. Of course, it is, considering it is organized by rich people. But, Taehyung still feels out of place here. He’s dressed himself in white button down shirt, with intricate patterns, having cuff sleeves. He pairs it with black skinny jeans, and white shoes, he wears light make up with this look, dazzling earrings and a choker pendant.

Jungkook had sent him a car, making Taehyung disappointed. He was hoping for the man to pick him up, but alas. Taehyung heaves a sigh as he enters the venue; a large garden. He spots Jungkook there, leaning against the bar counter, sipping on some gold liquid. Honestly, Taehyung wants to go and apologize to him for his behavior, but he’s mad at Jungkook not picking him up.

“Hi.” Taehyung greets the other. Jungkook looks handsome as always, he wears the black suit that Taehyung had picked for him, he looks elegant with his hair slicked back properly, and a silver chain in his neck.

Jungkook stares at Taehyung for a while, “thought you wouldn’t come.” Jungkook says it with no malice in his voice, or it can be deciphered as hurt.

“I promised to come, so I’m here.”

“Let’s go meet my family.” Jungkook stands up, walking ahead, Taehyung following suit.

Jungkook’s mom is a sweetheart. Thankfully, she doesn’t ask questions like what color Jungkook’s bed is, of course. It would have been so wild/awkward if she did. Jungkook’s dad is a laid back person, very cool. Taehyung can bet his money that Jungkook’s father was a heartthrob, and so Jungkook turned out this way. A fucking asshole but the most handsome young man. His sister is pretty cute, elegant and suits the Jeon family perfectly. She was so ecstatic to meet Taehyung, and he feels terrible that they’re both faking this.

On Jungkook’s mom's insistence, they both stand here, on the dance floor, breathing in each other’s spaces, as Jungkook awkwardly drapes a hand around his waist, while Taehyung keeps his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry, because of mom-” Jungkook tries explaining.

“No, it’s okay. She just wants to see us together.” Taehyung looks at Jungkook’s mom and gives her a small smile.

A few more minutes, and it gets too difficult for Taehyung to breathe the same air as Jungkook, “I can’t.” He voices out, making Jungkook raise his eyebrow in confusion. Oh, how much Taehyung missed this.

“Don’t go yet, mom’s still watching.” Jungkook speaks holding Taehyung’s waist tighter, “please.”

Taehyung looks up at Jungkook, his voice dripping with nothing but honesty. “Jungkook, we shouldn't. We can tell your parents that we broke up after a week or something. I can’t.”

“Taehyung.” Jungkook starts to sway them slowly, “it was my fault.” Jungkook leans in a bit, “I was scared that you would reject me, that we would fuck something up, my overthinking got the best of me, I’m sorry.” A tear falls from Jungkook's eyes, making Taehyung frown, who reaches out and wipes it from his cheeks.

“Jungkook, I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have assumed.”

“It’s okay, I understand where you’re coming from.” Jungkook leans in on the palm, holding his cheek, “I wanted to kiss you that day, and the day after, and after, i wanted to meet you, to hold you, to hug you, because I liked you Taehyung, I like you so so much.” The confession that Jungkook makes, has them both stopping at the dance floor. It’s quite dramatic honestly, Jungkook’s family watches them, other guests watch them, there’s waiters that stare at them, and not to forget there’s Namjoon who stands with a camera in his hands, too focused on both of them instead of the party.

“Kiss me then, Jungkook.”

And that’s all it takes for Jungkook to lean forward and kiss him. He kisses Taehyung, softly and slowly, sensually and deliciously. Taehyung can taste the whiskey that Jungkook had been having earlier. It's the perfect kiss, the best one Taehyung has ever had. It makes him cry due to happiness, because this is what he wanted, to be in Jungkook’s arms after a long, tiring day. And in their case it has been too many long and tiring days. The sound of fireworks has them moving apart, and that’s when they realize the situation they’re in. All eyes are on them, it makes both of their cheeks go red.

“Wanna get out of here?”

Taehyung nods eagerly.

And there goes Taehyung’s heart. To Jungkook. Beating wildly, and loudly.

(CAN YOU HEAR THE BIRDS???? THEY HAVE RISEN!!! PLAY THE HAPPY VIOLIN SONG RIGHT NOW)

~~~
“When you said ‘wanna get out of there’ I thought you meant, like, you know,--” Taehyung yells at Jungkook, as he sits in this small playground that Jungkook brings them to.
“I don’t know, Taehyung, care to explain?” Jungkook smirks at him, resulting in Taehyung huffing, “oh, come on now. I brought us here to talk.”
“What is there to talk? I like you, you like me, what else? I forgive you, you forgive me, what else?”
“You like me?”
“Of course I do!”
“You didn’t say it back there on the dance floor.”
“Because we were kissing!”
“Then you should’ve said so before!”
“But I wanted to kiss you first.”
“Should’ve confessed after then?”
“Oh shut up and kiss me.”
“As you wish, my lord.”
And this is how they both end up together, kissing each other, in a playground, while bickering back and forth!
(THE SONG!!!! THE FUCKING HAPPY SONGGGGGGG !! WE WONNNNNNNN
Dramatic pause// two years later
Jungkook smiles as he stares at his boyfriend’s face, he’s about to leave for the office, while Taehyung gets ready to go to his own work. Surprisingly, Taehyung managed to bag the position of lab assistant after his physics degree. Taehyung also takes part time classes for his love of fashion.
“Why do you keep staring?” Taehyung asks as he fondly looks at Jungkook through their vanity mirror.
“You know, I can’t stop thinking about one thing.” Jungkook answers as he walks toward the other.
“About?” Taehyung asks, as Jungkook leans in and kisses his forehead.
“My love, that's limitless like my card.”
“Oh shush you,” Taehyung smiles widely at him, “what else?”
“That you are a thief, you fucking stole my precious heart.” Jungkook laughs.
This makes Taehyung flush furiously as he throws a makeup brush at Jungkook, “Call me thief one more time and our deal is over.”
“What deal?”
“The deal where I kiss you,” Taehyung huffs.
“We can’t have that now, can we, my little thief!”
“Not a thief Jungkook,” Taehyung sighs, though he still pulls Jungkook in for a kiss. And instead bites his lips harshly, “That was for calling me a thief.”
“You little shit….”
And there goes Taehyung, running around the house, giggling and laughing, as Jungkook chases him laughing equally bright.
(End credits roll…the screen stops on their happy faces, background music starts playing…)
