Tenth Floor: Break Rooms & Random Musings

Summary:

Bridgerton Group aims to keep our break rooms stocked and clean for everyone to use. Please let our Services Manager know if items are running low, or if something is not working as it should.

***

Tea time, gossip, and arguments are quite the norm at Bridgerton Group.

Notes:

You know what really grinds my gears? People who insist on microwaving fish in the break room. Once again, all Americanisms and mistakes are mine.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“I heard she graduated top of her class at Cambridge.”

“Well, Josh in accounting said he saw them both at that new restaurant in Chelsea and that they couldn’t stop looking at each other.”

“Together like on a date? They don’t give off that vibe.”

“Oh, I actually don’t know. You’d have to ask Josh.”

Reminder that we are still looking for a few more players to join our Trivia Night team. Contact me with any questions.

  • Benedict Bridgerton.

“All I’m saying is that she is my best friend. You’ve known you the longest, sure, but you can’t just drop by and monopolize all of her time.”

“I wasn’t monopolizing her time. You never responded to her messages. At least I showed up.”

“I was in a meeting!”

“Are they always like this?”

“They’re much better when Violet is around to maintain the peace. You should see how the summers at Aubrey Hall are.”

“Ah. Should we do something?”

“They’ll stop once Michaela arrives with lunch.”

“And are we sure Michaela is coming back?”

“Didn’t take you as a man of little faith, Phillip.”

“Has your faith ever been tested like this, Penelope?”

“For the last fifteen plus years since I’ve known them.”

Reminder to please wipe down all general areas after use. It is disrespectful to expect others to clean up your mess.

  • Danbury

“You have to try this one, Anthony. It tastes Christmas morning.”

“And what exactly does that taste like?”

“That one is my favorite too, Hyacinth. Try this one next, I want to see what you get from it.”

“I think I preferred the first one we tried. Especially when you pair it with those biscuits.”

“Oh, the assam? That’s one of my favorite ones as well.”

“This one tastes good, but I liked the spiced chai better. You know who would love this, Anthony?”

“I’m sure you will tell me regardless of how-”

“Mum! Kate, you have to have my mum try these. She’d love them! Can you come over for tea this week? Actually, I’ll just bring mum here. She’s due for a visit with Agatha either way. Anthony you should join-”

“Whoa, okay that’s enough tea for you. I’m sure Kate is a little too busy to make time for tea with Agatha and mum.”

“You don’t know my schedule. Hy, tell your mum I’d love to have tea some time.”

“Is it your goal in life to vex me?”

“I think she just knows how to have fun.”

“Thank you, Hyacinth. As for you, yes.”

“That entire family is nuts. I refuse to believe they all get along with each other.”

“Some families just have different dynamics. Not everyone is as jaded as you are Tom.”

“I’m not jaded. I’m being realistic about it. No family is that perfect.”

“You know what? I forgot that I had a call to make. I’ll catch you later.”

“Sophie, is there any way we could get some disinfecting wipes set up near the coffee makers? I feel like people would be more open to cleaning up their spills if we made it easy for them.”

“I’m literally sitting right here, Colin.”

“Hello, Ben. Did you also notice the spill?”

“I was going to clean it up as soon as I finished my coffee. Sophie, I apologize if my brother is putting you on the spot.”

“It’s quite all right. But that is a good idea, Colin. I’ll try to have them delivered by tomorrow.”

“Are you picking on me too, Sophie?”

“Not at all, Benedict. You have a little coffee stain on your shirt, by the way.”

“Oh Ben. That must be embarrassing.”

“Shut it.”

“More like three months.”

“I was thinking more along the lines of weeks.”

“Did I ever tell you that he once held up the line at an In-N-Out in Santa Cruz? A place notoriously known for long lines.”

“The less we meddle the better, Michaela.”

“You’re right, Gen. So, tell me about the hot date you had.”

Enjoy the biscuits and cookies everyone! -Penelope
