Work Text:
“What seems to be the matter, little listener?” Hizashi asks the boy across from him.
The meetings that they've been having lately have been super calm and surprisingly fun. Chuuya seemed to like reminiscing about Yokohama and–even though he had yet to share any crucial details about the city and the Port Mafia–he has opened up about some of his hobbies and even disclosed his love of poetry to the Pro Hero. Although he had yet to feel comfortable enough to actually read any of his poems out loud, Hizashi feels that it is only a matter of time before they get to that stage of comfort. Overall, he feels proud of the progress they’ve made.
However, something is definitely wrong today.
From the other side of the desk, Hizashi can see that Chuuya is more nervous than normal about being here today. His right leg keeps bouncing up and down slightly and his usual laid back position is replaced with crossed arms and furrowed eyebrows.
He seems mad.
Hearing Hizashi’s question, Chuuya lifts his eyes to meet those of the hero. After a moment, he scoffs and his eyes break contact to focus on the rug below them. Although Hizashi does think his choice of rug is quite magnificent, he highly doubts that Chuuya’s avoidance of eye contact is due to an appreciation of his choice of rug. Hizashi takes a deep breath and prepares himself to convince the redhead boy in front of him to open up a little bit about what’s bothering him.
“Kid, I understand that there is something bothering you that you may not want to speak about, but I am here to listen and help you through any issues you may be having. So please, tell me what is going on.” Hizashi says, fully expecting to be ignored. However, Chuuya sighs and forces his leg to stop bopping, completely surprising the man across from him. Usually, it takes more effort to get students to open up, especially ones who are as… troubled as the duo from Yokohama.
Chuuya takes a deep breath.
“Dazai and I got in a fight.” He states with a straight face, looking almost embarrassed at his confession. Hizashi blinks a couple of times, shocked at the response he received. After coughing into his fist quickly to compose himself, Hizashi speaks once more: “Um.. and can I ask what this fight was about?”
“Well… that dumb ass kept trying to drape himself all over me while we were in the locker rooms changing. Now, there were other people around so I kept pushing him off. The real kicker was when that fuckface started tickling my sides in front of everyone. I got super fucking pissed–justifiably, of course–so I punched him in the face and he got all sulky. Now, he fucking refuses to talk to me even though he is the one who started it but has the fucking audacity to kiss me!!”
“Ah yes, I see. Well, that does seem to be—” Hizashi pauses for a moment as he processes what he just heard.
“.... Wait… did you just say he tried to… kiss you?” Hizashi asks Chuuya with his mouth agape.
“Yeah! Can you fucking believe it?” Chuuya continues ranting without acknowledging the information he just slipped, “He can’t just refuse to fucking talk to me while wanting to make out? Like, I get that I got a little angry in the moment, but that fucker needs to apologize for being a dick and trying to be all cuddly while I was busy changing!!”
Hizashi wants to pinch himself to check whether or not he is in a dream.
He coughs once more into his fist and attempts to compose himself. Figuring it might not be the best idea to point out that he accidentally revealed his and Dazai’s relationship, Hizashi tries his best to mask the shock on his face as he chooses his next words.
“Maybe try mentioning to him that it’s bothering you..?” Hizashi suggests. Chuuya stares back at him as if he is stupid.
“And why the fuck would that work?” He asks, dumbfounded.
“Well that is how people normally try to work out arguments in a healthy…” Hizashi halts, debating whether he should say the next words on his mind. Eventually, he forces it out: “...relationship.” As he finishes his sentence, he prepares himself for the boy's yells for even suggesting that he and Dazai could be dating.
The yells never come.
Instead, Hizashi sees Chuuya furrow his brows in consideration and think for a moment. Just as he started to get nervous that his words went too far, he got a response.
“Hmm… I guess you’re right. Neither of us have really seen many healthy relationships… but I guess that sounds reasonable enough.” Chuuya answers, suddenly getting up from his chair. Before Hizashi could say anything, he starts making his way to the door, despite their time for the day not being up.
Chuuya turns his head right before opening the door.
“Thanks for the advice.”

Teaching English classes feels way different ever since the discovery.
Although everything else throughout the class is the same—Kirishima trying to hide his phone underneath his desk with Google Translate, Yaoyorozu helping the people around her when they had questions, seeing as she already knew English, Midoriya muttering under his breath as he translated the sentences—Hizashi still felt that the class is extremely different.
“Chuuyaaaaaa, I don’t want to do the workkkkkkk!” Dazai whines loudly despite the fact that the red head is right beside him, standing over him. Chuuya had been trying to get Dazai to work ever since he finished his own packet.
“Mackerel. Shut the fuck up and work.” Chuuya orders, clearly looking annoyed at the volume of the other boy.
Hizashi sees Chuuya lean closer to the bandaged boy as he continues whining about work.
“Osamu… we talked about this. Remember?” Chuuya says softly with a smirk. Dazai’s eyes widen a little more at his name, but he still continues to grumble slightly. Chuuya leans even closer to the brunette’s ear and starts to whisper.
Dazai’s mouth shuts quickly and he picks up his pen. An accomplished smile makes its way across Chuuya’s face as he leans away from the other boy.
Hizashi feels like he just witnessed a moment he was not supposed to. His eyes find their way to Jirou and his own face starts to redden at the blush on her face. He knows that he should reprimand them for the PDA during class, but Dazai seems to be finally working on his classroom….
He won’t say anything about it this time.
However, their relationship does not seem to be as secret as he thought.
Hizashi wonders how long it will take all of the others to notice.
