Work Text:

Kanade didn't know for how long she had been out of it since Mafuyu took her in. Also, Kanade wasn't sure when she had woken up, nor since when she was standing on her feet with her arms tied behind her back by the witch.

As much as she'd like to break free and escape, her mind felt too foggy to do so. She also couldn't do anything with her frail body and the boy always keeping an eye on her, just like now.

She took a look at her surroundings, as if she tried to relieve the tension of being stared at. It seemed like a room fitting for a witch like Mafuyu, shelves filled with books, a table with equipment, potions and ingredients she had no knowledge of.

“I've never seen wings like yours before, you can't actually fly, can you ?” Mafuyu asked Kanade, getting her back to reality for a bit.

She couldn't tell if he was asking genuinely or if he was mocking her, but either way she shook her head with a tint of shame in her heart. Even Kanade herself didn't know why she had those when they were so useless.

“I see…” he lightly touched them, instantly sending a shiver down her spine. She quickly turned around and stepped back, stumbling on her feet as dizziness reminded her of its presence, but managed to not lose equilibrium.

He glared at her, it was enough to make her freeze in place. As he got close to her again, he traced imaginary lines on her wings with his fingers. He gave an experimental tug, to which they answered by flinching, getting out of his light grip.

“Wait, please !...” she yelped, a second glare made her shut her mouth and avert her eyes before she could say anything else. Her breath hitched, she felt powerless, she couldn't run away even if she wanted to, there really was nowhere she could go, much less in her current state.

Mafuyu took note of her reactions. So, sensitive it is. He wanted to draw a little more out of her.

After a quick, violent pull, she screamed in pain, curling up her back as tears blurred her vision. They both stared at the feather he just plucked, he left her side to place it on the table before quickly coming back to her.

He inclined his body towards hers as if he were to hug, lying his chin on her shoulder. Kanade's back was just a few steps away from touching the wall. Cornered, her movements were almost fully restrained.

His hands traveled playfully on her sides before coming to a stop. Resting his left hand on her waist, Mafuyu used his free hand to pinch Kanade's wing once again without a warning, watching as she writhed under his touch. A muffled groan escaped her lips, he could feel her tears wetting his dress. He paid no mind on stopping though, deciding to dig in his nails slowly, not enough pressure to rip the skin apart, but enough to hurt.

She muttered his name under her breath, she didn't know why – she could barely register her thoughts, much less what she could say when she felt her body giving up anytime soon.

Kanade tried her best to stay still, perhaps he would stop soon or be kinder if she behaved and let him do whatever he wanted.

Easier said than done, she struggled to keep herself together, she could barely stand as her legs grew weaker, the metallic taste of blood and salty tears – the result of preventing herself from screaming by biting her lips – reached her tongue, she felt like her skin was getting peeled off at every tug, her chest heaved as she panted in agony; it all made her head dizzy to the point of nausea. Kanade felt herself so distant from what was happening at the same time she felt so much it was unbearable.

After another tug, her legs finally gave up. Mafuyu got her before she fell, it was easier to do so hence their closeness.

Kanade tried to catch her breath, he held her trembling body carefully, unlike just a few moments ago. The same hand that hurt was now caressing her back kindly. He peppered from her shoulders to her temple with kisses. She could faintly hear him speaking, but her mind felt too giddy to properly listen to him.

Mafuyu didn't seem mad about it, instead he wiped away her tears with his thumbs and pressed his lips against hers. She didn't back off, opting to close her weary eyes and enjoy the tiny amount of peace she could have for now, as she felt her body slowly shutting off.
