Confrontations and Revelations

Summary:

This is an extension to the vase scene from book 10, everything happens exactly the same except instead of rushing past the vase scene to continue on with the story, we linger on and see the aftermath of that entire confrontation. I wrote this because the original scene felt rushed and unfinished so this fic serves to give that entire sequence proper closure.

Notes:

Special thanks to salvewonk for helping me with grammar and juts generally helping me clean up the story so it flows better.

Work Text:

Well this is awkward. Qibli thought to himself. How long has it been since Winter yelled at Moon over Darkstalker? Had it been 5 minutes? 10 minutes?? Qibli truly didn’t know.

Kinkajou and Anemone left to go get some food, so it was just the three of them in this room, and no one has said anything since.

“Sooo, I know things got a little tense back then,” Qibli said, trying to break the tension, “But there is no use in being angry and not talking to each other, so why don’t we try and kill some time?”

“That sounds better than just laying down here and doing nothing, right? Moon? Winter?” Qibli suggested, but received no response.

Moon was deep in thought, tending to that small wound on her talon and ignoring his suggestion, while Winter was just laying down, staring outside the balcony, saying and doing nothing.

“Be quiet.” Winter suddenly growled.

“Oh… okay. You could have just said so, didn’t have to be so rude about it.” Here we go again, Qibli thought to himself. This attitude Winter always had, always pushing us away whenever we tried to help. Always pushing me away…

“Winter,” Moon interjected, breaking Qibli from his train of thought, “I am sorry, I really am, I just di–”

“Wait Moon you don’t have to apologize,” Qibli said, cutting Moon off, “Winter was the one who yelled at you. If anything, he should apologize to us.”

Winter held still for the briefest of moments before he growled again, stood up with a loud stomp, lifted his wings, and left in the blink of an eye, leaving nothing but a gust of wind and some disturbed dust where he used to be.

“Winter! Wait!” Moon followed suit, getting up and flying, only to leave Qibli behind.

“Oh no, not again, why now?!” Qibli stammered and scrambled to catch up with Moon and Winter.

Desperately flying through the night, sky lit by the moons, Qibli frantically searched for his companions to no avail.

Where are they? Qibli thought. How could they have flown so far in such a short span of time? I need to find them and fast. What if Moon already caught up to Winter and now Winter is lashing out at her? What if a fight starts? What if Moon gets lost and taken away by someone? What if I find Moon but can’t find Winter, and what would I do if this is the last time I see him?
Qibli pushed that thought aside, focus, I need to focus. I can't afford to lose focus like this.

He continued searching over the Old Night Kingdom, his head still rushing with thoughts. He flew by buildings that were once used as homes, marketplaces, and schools now overgrown and crumbling.

Qibli soon found himself approaching the end of the peninsula, flying amidst the sound of waves crashing. It was then he could see a white form among the sky diving down to rest upon a mostly intact cliff side, with a hard to distinguish form following suit.

That must be them, Qibli thought. He flew as fast as his wings would allow him, each beat hurting his wings more than the last but eventually he dived down and approached the cliff side where Moon and Winter were standing.

“Oh you're here now, aren't you, sand snorter? Great just great.” Winter lashed his tail and curled up.

“Winter I just wanted to say tha–,” Moon began.

“Of course we are here, we aren't just gonna let you go Winter.” Qibli said, cutting Moon off yet again, “We don’t want to leave you moping by yourself.”

Winter scoffed and threw a small rock over the edge of the cliff. “Wow, thanks. I have such good friends.” Winter said emotionlessly.

“Winter that's why we are here,” Moon said while getting closer to Winter “We wanted to aplogi–”

“Wait, hold on a minute,” Qibli interjected yet again, “Moon, I get it you want to apologize, that's nice and all, but if anything, Winter should apologize to you. For yelling, storming out, and breaking that vase.”

Winter stomped his talons and stood up “Oh, why of course I am sooo sorry,” Winter replied bitterly, “There. I did it. Now leave me alone.”

“Really, again with the attitude,” Qibi said, “you–”

Moon looked up and got in between the two “Wait! Qibli don’t let me–”

“Let me just say what I have to say first,” Qibli cut Moon off yet again, “We go out and try and stop Darkstalker and the entire time Winter is mad at us or berating us for not being Icewing enough,” Qibli gestured towards Winter, who was growing angrier with every word that came out of his mouth.

“He leaves us and Kinkajou at the desert to go back to the Ice Kingdom, and almost immediately after we get the group back together he immediately lashes out at all of us and then storms out.”

Silence again, a silence that is only broken by the sounds of Winter’s rapid breathing and the crashing waves.

That came out harsher than expected, Qibli thought to himself. But whatever it takes to get Winter to stop getting mad–

“Stop! That's enough, sandwing!” Winter hissed, “You act as though you have the moral authority to judge me when just mere minutes ago you said you would enchant other dragons to like you! And you still haven’t answered whether you think it's wrong or not.”

Qibli was expected to hear this question “Umm… well,” Qibli shrunk, blindsided by the sudden aggression, but more so by the resurgence of THAT question.

“I just think that it would make things easier, you know, you wouldn’t run into as many problems.” Qibli said, deflated.

“Problems like me, right?” Winter took one step closer to Qibli.

“What?! No, not you!” Qibli said, trying to calm Winter down to no avail

“A disgruntled and moody icewing that's too angry to have friends, but too weak to be wanted by his family.” Winter lashed while choking back sobs.

“When I returned with Hailstorm, our parents forced us to fight each other to death! I could never kill him, but after spending all that time as another dragon he was willing to do anything to get his old life back . . . and that included killing me.” Winter said after a while.

Out of everything Qibli was expecting to hear, this wasn’t something he considered, is this true? Is this what happened while he was in the Ice Kingdom? Qibli took a look at Moon and Moon looked back; she looked mortified from the information that had just been dropped.

“Winter, I…,” Moon walked towards Winter and wrapped her tail around his carefully, “go on, you shouldn’t have to carry this alone.”

Winter regained some of his composure “I …I.”

“It’s okay, Winter, you can talk with me, I promise I will listen.” Moon said, reassuringly.

“I proposed that he go back to our parents, say he had killed me, and I left the Ice Kingdom. After all that, I was so happy to see you all again,” Winter managed to choke out.
“Then Darkstalker was released,” Winter said with his voice raising, “Then I, along with many other dragons, were enchanted in liking him, soon after I learned how Hailstorm's life was ruined after being turned into another dragon, as well. Then, I found out that Queen Glacier died from a plague Darkstalker sent to kill all IceWings.” Winter said, almost yelling,
“The cherry on top is that once we finally meet again, after all these revelations. I see that my so-called friends are defending him and trying to hide the truth of what he did!”

Qibli saw Moon wince after hearing what Winter had said. At the same time, he stood still, feeling a sense of guilt rising throughout his body. I can salvage this, Qibli thought to himself, I can fix this, I just need to find a way to calm Winter down.

Winter started staring directly into Qibli’s eyes, “Not only that, but this SandWing has the audacity to yell at me for telling the truth, treating me like some kind of danger to himself and others for getting mad because you two were defending Darkstalker!”

“Oh, Winter,” Moon said with a hint of sadness in her voice, “I am sor–”

“I can defend myself,” Qibli interrupted “It’s just tha–”

“Qibli! I am sorry but that is enough!” Moon yelled out.

Both Qibli and Winter jumped up from the angry shout, something neither of them could have expected from the reserved and shy Nightwing.

“This entire time you have been cutting me off and keeping me from saying what I want to say,” Moon looked at Qibli, “I am sorry for yelling, but you can’t just keep speaking for me like I don’t know how to talk for myself.”

“Okay.” Qibli murmured.

“Will you let me speak now, please?” Moon said her composure fully regained, “I just want to stop this from escalating.”

“Yes you can.” Qibli said, barely being audible. I might as well just let her deal with it. it's not like I have been useful in this situation, if anything I made things worse. Qibli thought to himself feeling more useless than he usually already is.

Moon nodded at Qibli and approached Winter to give him a hug. Winter did not resist it, but he didn’t return it either.

“I am sorry, Winter, for not wanting to believe you.” Moon began, “I… I just want you to know that I wasn’t trying to hurt you, and I am sorry that I did,” Moon looked up at him, waiting for his response.

He held still still for a moment, processing what he had just heard.

"Do you actually mean that, or are you just saying that to get me to be quiet?” Winter said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

“No, Winter, I mean it, I just,” Moon paused for a moment, “moons, this is a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be,” a hint of sadness emerged in her voice, “I didn’t mean to hurt you, I,” Moon held back a sob now, “I just didn’t know, okay!” She finally cried out “I just didn’t know!”

“Darkstalker was the first dragon I thought I could trust when I got to Jade Mountain. He was the only other nightwing that knew about my powers that didn’t see them as a curse.” Moon choked out, “He even taught me how to block out some thoughts so that I wouldn’t be bombarded by them all the time. I thought I could trust him. He told me he had changed and that he wouldn’t hurt anyone and I believed him, I trusted him.”

Both Qibli and Winter were shocked by the sudden emotion from the Nightwing, but Qibli couldn’t help but feel guilty for causing this. If only I kept my stupid snout shut, then none of this would have happened, why am I like this? Winter most likely hates me now and Moon is crying and I can’t do anything about it cause I will just make things worse.

“Looking back, I can see some warning signs that I didn’t notice, like him saying if anyone found out about my powers they would hate me, him saying how ‘your friends forgave you for hiding your powers so you should give me a chance to move on from the mistakes of my past. Why do you get to be forgiven and not me,’ and him being so secretive about his past . . . moons above I am such an idiot.” Moon relented, “I should have never trusted him. If I had truly known I would have never trusted him. I hope you can forgive me Winter, I just didn’t want to believe someone I trusted was such an awful dragon.”

Winter wrapped his wings around Moon after the apology and confession. Qibli could clearly see he was thinking of saying something but he was struggling to find the words, not that he could blame him, he didn’t know what he would say himself.

Winter pulled his head away from Moon and looked at her, “I didn't know that Darkstalker was manipulating you like that.” Winter responded, with a hint of anger in his voice, from the revelation of Darksralkers manipulation, “And I didn’t know what that Darkstalker was hiding things from.” Winter said awkwardly, trying to comfort Moon, “ I- ugh, I am not good at comforting, but I want you to know I forgive you and I am sorry for yelling… and for how you got hurt by that vase, okay?” Winter stammered.

“It’s okay,” Moon said. “Me getting cut on that shard was an accident, and, if I am being completely honest with you, knowing that Darkstalker altered your mind and tried to kill your tribe with a plague, I can understand why you got mad.” Moon muttered, “Moons above, I would lose my temper if I were in your place.”

With everything calming down Qibli didn’t know what to say or do, he played no role in de-escalating things, and if anything, all he did was make things worse. Not only that, but both Moon and Winter seemed content now. He just wasn’t needed here, but then again that was something he already knew deep down.

“Hey everyone.” Qibli said, getting both Moon’s and Winter’s attention, “I just wanted to say sorry to you, Winter, for being rude and selfish about disregarding your concerns, and I want to say sorry to you, Moon, for cutting you off and trying to speak for you.”

He sounded defeated, his head was held low and he couldn’t bear to look them in the eyes. Even now I am useless. I can't even look them in the eyes and give them a proper apology.

“I gotta go, I’ll let you enjoy each other's company.” Qibli said with a smile that betrayed his true feelings. “Bye, I will see you lat–”

“Now, where do you think you're going?” Winter began, slightly irritated, “We just had that heartfelt moment and now you're gonna leave? Just like that?”

Of course, Qibli thought, I guess this is my fault for thinking leaving would be this easy.

“Well yeah, everyone has calmed down and we aren't fighting anymore.” Qibli said, masking his feelings. “I just want to go before I accidentally make things worse.” Did that sound convincing? I hope it did cause I just want to go before I make things worse again.

“But what about you?” Moon said, breaking Qibli’s train of thought.

He turned around and looked at Moon, “What about me? I already apologized, and I want to go before I make things worse.” Hoping that that would be enough he turned to fly away. Soon, this will all be over soon.

“Make things worse, how, exactly?” Winter said, prying deeper, “Oh, wait, it's by enchanting me isn't it?

All eyes were on him, he wanted to fly away, he should have flown away, but he couldn’t bring himself to do that. All he could do was stay frozen like an idiot while everyone was looking at him.

“I want to leave before I make things worse by being myself. There. You win, are you happy now?” Qibli broke, finally letting his true feelings show, “I started this fight by being a useless idiot who thinks he can magic his way into making friends. By trying to hide the truth and then cutting Moon off just to add more fuel to the flame.”

Qibli’s heart was pounding, his breaths ragged, his eyes watering, and everyone was looking at him like he was crazy. The world might as well have been crumbling just like the facade he always puts up is.

“There. Now I confirmed what you already knew, that I am selfish and useless. I am not a prince, I don’t have any special powers like Moon, Peril, or Turtle. I bring nothing to the table that any other sandwing can’t. If anything, I just make things worse like I did before and like I’m doing right now, so just let me leave, and you will be better off without me.” He tried to keep his snout shut, to keep himself from saying anything else, but as usual he couldn’t even control what he was saying.

“Qibli, calm down!” Moon said, sounding distraught and running to his side with Winter. “You aren’t useless! We enjoy your company, you just made a mistake.”

“Of course I am!” Qibli shouted, the sudden outburst causing both Moon and Winter to be taken aback.

“I can’t do anything right!” Qibli said as he collapsed on the ground, unable to look his friends in the eye, “It’s why Cobra sold me away for a few gold coins. After Thorn had me I had to make myself useful, or else she wouldn’t want me. It's why I need magic to have dragons like me cause they would never love or care for me otherwise.” Qibli sobbed.

“I wanted to be your friend can’t even keep you happy, and if I can't do that why would you want me here? What use do you have for me?” Qibli wept, “I knew deep down I would find a way to ruin this. Turns out I was right, you're better off without me, it was a miracle I even managed to trick you into liking me in the first place. I am sorry for wasting your time.”

He finally let it all out, maybe now that they all saw how pathetic he really was they would leave him alone and let him leave.

“That’s enough of that!” Winter said to Qibli’s surprise.

Winter took a seat next to him and looked him in the eyes, confusing Qibli as to why he was still bothering to waste his time with him.

“You don’t get to accuse me of pushing you away and then proceed to do the exact same thing to us.” Winter chuckled. “By the Great Ice Dragon, this has been an exhausting night, but I am not just gonna let you go, right Moon?”

“Yeah.” Moon replied sheepishly, “We aren’t just gonna abandon you, not after everything.”

Moon walked up and took a seat near Qibli, adjacent to Winter, while Qibli was left completely dumbfounded. He had failed, hadn't he? He didn’t deserve the time of Winter or Moon, not after he caused a mess that was more trouble than he was worth.

“Qibli, I don’t know exactly what you are thinking, since you have the skyfire, but I can still say that whatever it is, it’s not exactly kind to yourself.”

“Why?” Qibli replied, shocked by how Moon knew what he was thinking without reading his mind. He really shouldn't be this surprised, considering she did read his mind during the time before he had skyfire, and since he just confessed what he really was like. So that means she knows what I am. Why is she still here, then?

Taking some time to get over his initial shock, Qibli spoke again, “Even if I could stop, that doesn’t make my thoughts any less true.” He said, sounding truly defeated.

“Qibli, you need to stop acting like this.” Winter replied, shocking Qibli yet again.

For the first time in a while, Qibli looked up at Winter’s eyes. He had expected to see eyes full of anger and hatred, but that's not what he got. What he got were eyes filled with.. pity? Understanding? He didn’t quite know.

“Stop what?” Qibli responded absolutely dumbfounded.

“Stop all of this.” Winter said, gesturing to Qibli. “All the thinking you're not worth it, and all the hating yourself for not being good enough. Trust me, I already tried that, but it doesn’t work.” Winter sighed, putting a talon up to his face for his head to rest upon.

Out of all the things Qibli expected, this wasn’t on the list. Being shunned away, yes. Being yelled at, yes. Hell, even being chased away was something he was expecting, but this? Never in a million years could he ever expect this.

“But I –” Qibli began.

“No, Qibli, no buts.” Moon interrupted, which was pretty ironic considering that's what he was just doing to her.

Moon sighed and looked down at Qibli, her kind eyes looking right at him, “We are not going to start hating you just because you made a mistake.”

“But I made a big mistake, and it hurt you, all of you.” Qibli retorted.

“So did I when I thought I could trust Darkstalker,” Moon replied, “And after I told you the truth about my powers, but I didn’t get abandoned, so why should you?”

“I tried to keep the truth from you!” Qibli rebuffed, ”Not only that, I hurt Winter by thinking it’s okay to change dragons with magic in the process.”

Qibli turned around and looked at Winter, “Surely you must hate me for that, right?”

Qibli didn’t even have time to worry about his response, for the moment those words left his mouth, Winter quickly responded “No. No, I don’t hate you.”

“Listen, yes, I was mad at you at first, but after this entire mess, after everything we have been through I can't bring myself to hate you.” Winter said.

“Why? I don't understand how could you not hate me for being so selfish?” Qibli said, waiting for Winter’s response.

“It’s because,” Winter said, ”I have the feeling that it’s not to control dragons, to get them to do whatever you want.” Winter paused for a moment, “It was so you can guarantee dragons would like you, and wouldn’t leave you, wasn’t it?”

Qibli could have sworn he felt his heart skip a beat after he heard Winter say that.

“And, despite my disdain for magic, I can’t exactly blame you for wanting that, especially with how your family treated you… And especially since I can't pretend like I have never had thoughts like that…”

“. . . Asking The Great Ice Dragon every night why family didn't like me. Why i couldn't get anyone or anyone to just love me after I lost Hailstorm.” Winter sighed, “So, no, SandWing, we don’t hate you, and we aren’t gonna abandon you, alright? Just like you didn’t abandon me when I was giving up on looking for Hailstorm.” Winter said solemnly. Qibi tried to muster a response but he couldn’t, how was he supposed to respond to this? He kept giving them reasons to hate him and yet they didn’t.

“For the longest time, I wondered the same thing you are, struggling to comprehend the fact why you were all so nice to me despite me being, uhh… angry… and treating you horribly for not being an icewing. Sooo, I am glad that you all didn’t leave me then. If I were to hate and leave you, I would be some sort of hypocrite. To be completely honest with I was angry because I thought there was something so wrong with me the only way it could be fixed was by magic.” Winter paused, looking at the horizon with the sound of the wave crashing. “You don't think that, right Qibli?”

Winter’s voice is sounded so vulnerable, Qibli had never heard him sound this vulnerable before.“No! It's not that, it's just that I wanted you to like me Winter. I didn't think about using magic because there was something wrong with you, I thought about it because I know something is wrong with me, and I didn't want to lose you.” Qibli responded meekly, “Cause if you left then I would know that I really am a waste of scales. Moons saying this out loud made me realize how selfish this sounds. I really am sorry, is there any chance I could get you to trust me again?” Qibli stopped, waiting for Winter's response, his heart threatening burst out of his chest.

“Yeah I think I can.” Winter replied, “All of this was a good place to start building back trust.”

“If I may add.” Winter and Qibli both turned around to look at Moon. “If this helps, I remember when I was younger I wish I could get my mom to stay with me longer before she had to leave me alone in the rainforest again, and how I would try to do anything to get her to stay with me, like distracting her or trying to run off somewhere where she couldn't see me, just so she’d run after me. So you aren’t alone in wanting to be with someone.”

Both Winter and Qibli looked up at Moon with a concerned expression, but before they could say anything, she began to talk again, “I would also like to add that just because a dragon thinks something doesn't mean they will actually do it.” Moon said, “Before I had good control of my powers, I could hear dragons think some rather unsavory things, but they never did them.”

Moon looked directly in Qibli’s eyes and held his talons, “Our thoughts don’t make us bad. It’s our actions that do, you get that, Qibli?”

“I… I think so. ARGH! This is so confusing, but I think I get it.” Qibli said. “But just to be completely sure, you don’t hate me, right?”

“No.” Winter and Moon both responded.

“I know I can be abrasive, and cold sometimes.” Winter nudged Qibli with his elbow in an attempt to cheer him up. “But I don’t hate you. I was angry and disappointed because I thought you didn’t care for me, but I don’t hate you

“Sooo, Qibli, how do you feel?” Moon asked.

Qibli took a while to think of a response, as he genuinely didn’t know at first. “Uhh, I feel confused, sad, a little bit useless. . . but at the same time, I also feel… relieved? Like there was this huge weight lifted off me, which I think is good… maybe?”

Moon chuckled, “Yes, Qibli, that is good. It means you’re feeling better.”

“And if it helps you even more, I feel the exact same way.” Winter replied “And I’d guess Moon does too.”

“Yes, yes I do.” Moon said as she began to lay down on the floor. “Well, this certainly was a fun night.”

“It sure was.” Winter replied, arching his back and stretching his wings before laying down next to Qibli. “Just to be sure you get it, we still care for you, SandWing, mistakes and all, you understand that?”

“Yeah.” Qibli said tearing up, “I do.”

“... sorry for tearing up and being like this, I’m just not used to this.” That was the one thing Qibli could say confidently. He chuckled weakly, “It’s funny that all this time, I have been trying to make myself useful and keep you all happy so you would like me, but now that I know you actually like me, I don’t know what to do with myself, or whether to believe this is all real.” All his life, he thought he had to work and make himself useful in order to be loved. He would be lying if he didn’t admit that a small part of him still thought that. But, more importantly, he felt loved, not just for being useful, but for just simply being himself.

“I can assure you, Qibli, that this is real, and we mean what we are saying. That’s what friends are for.” Moon said, shining a smile to comfort Qibli and ease his doubts.

Winter nodded at Moon's reassuring statement, “As for what you should do with yourself, maybe being less hard on yourself can be a start. Believe me when I say it can be hard, but it’s a good start, especially with help.”

“Yeah, I suppose.” Qibli said

Well this turned out differently than I thought it would, Qibli thought to himself. I thought I would have no friends after this but if Moon and Winter still want to be friends with me after I told them everything, maybe there is something good about me after all. Despite this, there was still one nagging question at the back of Qibli’s mind.

“Uhh, hey, Moon?” Qibli said.

Moon turned around to look at him “Yes?”

“I hope you don’t mind me asking. but you said your mom left you alone in the rainforest when you were young?” Qibli said, looking quite concerned. He had always assumed that Moon had had the best dragonethood out of all of them, especially compared to what the Nightwings on that volcanic island had to deal with. But maybe it wasn’t as peachy as Qibli once thought it was.

“Oh yeah…” Moon frowned, as if the very mention of it brought back less than pleasant memories.

“My mom didn't want me to grow up on the Island, so she layed my egg somewhere hidden in the rainforest.” Moon paused for a moment, “After I hatched, she was only with me for a couple of minutes before she had to leave. Before leaving, though, she showed me how dangerous the world could be and told me to ‘Stay secret, stay hidden, and stay safe,’ so I did.”

Qibli and Winter looked at Moon, bost at a loss for words.

“Wait, so you were left alone in the rainforest since you hatched?” Winter said with a slight hint of concern in his voice.

“Yes.” Moon replied sheepishly.

“So you had to survive and get food all by yourself from the moment you hatched??” Winter sounds more concerning.

“Well, yeah, but it’s better than living on the Island at least.” Moon replied “Secretkeeper had to go back in order to keep up the lie that I died before I even hatched, if she had stayed with me, the rest of the Nighwings would have started looking for her.” Moon said, trying to defend her mother.

“Well, that explains why you're such a good hunter.” Qibli said, trying to cut through the tension and awkwardness that came from this revelation. “But didn’t you say you wished that Scecretkeeper was with you?”

Moon looked down and stayed silent.

“Like, I get that if she went with you the Nightwings would start looking for her, but the rainforest, despite being safer than the island, is still dangerous, especially for a dragonet.” Qibli reasoned “With all the tigers, panthers, and poisoned plants you could have easily gotten hurt, or even ki–.”

Qibi didn’t want to finish that sentence, or even think about the possibility. Moon had been the one that had brought the jade winglet together, so thinking about a world where Moon wasn’t around because her mom didn’t want to stay with her was something he did not want to think about.

Qibli and Winter both snuggled up closer to Moon, since bringing this up was visibly hard for Moon.

“Does anyone in the jade winglet have a dragonethood that wasn’t traumatic?” Winter added with some dryness. “Like, seriously, is anyone in this group normal?”

Moon and Qibli both chuckled meekly at the remark, “Winter, I am sorry to say, with 100% certainty, that no one in the jade winglet is normal, absolutely none of us.”

“All the more reason for why we should stick together.” Moon said tiredly. “I think it’s about time we go back to Kinkajou and Anemone, they are probably worried sick about us.”

“Yeah, you have a point there. Come on, Winter, buddy we gotta go.” Qibli said, looking at Winter.

“Finally, it’s about time! I could use some sleep right about now. And maybe some food too.” Winter got up, waiting for the rest of the group.

Moon stood up and stretched her wings, preparing for the journey back, “I think all of us could use some food and rest.”

“Definitely.” Qibli said while stretching his wings as well.

Qibli took off, followed by Moon and Winter, as they flew back to that balcony with the sound of the crashing waves growing quieter the further they flew away.

Despite how emotionally exhausting this whole ordeal was, Qibli couldn’t help but feel that he really did belong here, with his friends and the rest of the jade winglet. And, judging by the expression on his companions' faces, maybe they thought the same thing as they flew back to go and beat Darkstalker, after some well deserved rest of course.

Notes:

Welp that ends my first fic, any constructive criticism would be nice. Idk i might write another fic but this was really time consuming so if I do it will be after a break. Hope you enjoyed it.
