Work Text:

It was later in the winter, and a light snowfall covered the skatepark in a thin blanket of white. Snowflakes cascaded gracefully onto the cement, posing challenges for the couple who had just arrived. The two men who had entered the park wanted to skateboard, but it didn't look like that would be possible in these conditions. So the two sat down on the icy cement, hands entwined as they pondered what to do next because their plans for the night had been ruined.

A comfortable silence elapsed between the two as they looked around the park, fond memories flooding back to the two of them. This was the park where Reki had taught Langa how to do an ollie. Reki chuckled to himself, thinking about how many times Langa had eaten cement and how learning the basics was such a challenge for his boyfriend. Langa, being as observant as he was, noticed Reki's amusement.

"What's so funny?" He inquired, tilting his head in curiosity.

Reki snickered in reply, "It's nothing, I'm just thinkin' about when you first started skating. You ate shit pretty often."

Langa couldn't help but giggle at his partner's blunt recollection of his first moments on a skateboard, but he didn't mind it all. He enjoyed looking back at all those times when Reki would pick him up whenever he fell. Even now, their bond hadn't changed. Reki was his reason to skate, to live, and through skateboarding, Langa found deep within his heart his great love for Reki.

"I did not. It was only once or twice." Langa replied, knowing full well that it was way more than that. But he didn't want to let Reki win, at least not this time.

"Bullcrap. It was wayyy more. I can count at least..." Reki started holding up his calloused and bandaged fingers, counting them one by one. "One...two...three...four...five..."

"Okay, maybe it was more than once or twice!" Langa retorted, a faint but warm blush crawled across his face like an unwelcome guest.

"See? Told ya. I'm always right!" Reki beamed, flashing a toothy grin at his boyfriend.

Langa rolled his eyes playfully. "Not so sure about that last part, but you win this time." Despite Reki being arrogant sometimes, Langa still loved him more than anything. A part of him envied the other boy, wishing he had the level of confidence that he possessed. Still, the couple had nothing but admiration for each other.

As their playful banter subsided, the icy chill in the air became more prominent, and the couple couldn't help but huddle even closer to one another for warmth. Hands still entwined, the two sat for a second or two longer before deciding they should probably go before they get frostbite. Langa was used to the cold, but Reki, on the other hand, was not. The blue-haired boy noticed his boyfriend's nose start to turn pink, and he reached out to clasp it with his index finger and thumb.

"You're going to get frostbite if you stay out here much longer," Langa warned him.

Reki flinched at the sudden contact, his nose almost immediately warming up to his boyfriend's gentle touch.

"Fine, guess we'll go. I really wanted to skate with you, though." Reki replied, a frown appearing on his usually chipper face.

"We can't skate in this weather, love." Langa looked at Reki, his teal eyes shimmering with compassion. "This is snowboarding weather. But you don't do much of that here in Okinawa, do you?"

"Nnnope."

The two eventually got up and began their walk back to Langa's place. Reki could stay there for the weekend because Langa's mom was out of town on a work trip. The two walked silently, simply enjoying each other's presence as snow gracefully fell around them. By the time they arrived, Reki was a shivering mess. They both needed to warm up. So Langa picked Reki up, scooping the shorter boy into his slender arms, and carried him inside.

"Love, you're as cold as ice." Langa softly whispered to Reki, concern lacing his tone.

"Well, you're not exactly a human heater yourself," Reki quickly retorted, but he had to admit he was freezing. "Mannn, a hot shower would be great right now."

"You definitely need one, no offense," Langa replied, looking around the living room. "I could join you if you'd like."

Reki's face turned beet red at Langa's suggestion. The thought of the two showering together...well, he wasn't exactly against it. But Reki had never done anything like that before. Would it be weird? No, of course not. The two were dating now, after all. But...they'd never done something so intimate before. Reki's brain was telling him no, but his heart was screaming yes, screaming at Reki to accept Langa's suggestion. After a moment of silence, Reki bit his lower lip, looking down at the floor and averting his gaze from his boyfriend before looking back up at the taller man.

"I'd...I mean...that's fine." He stuttered out, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. "Just...try not to...I'll try not to make it awkward."

"Nothing's awkward with you, love. There's nothing to worry about, okay? Besides, I wouldn't do this with anybody else." Langa warmly replied to his partner as he placed a reassuring hand on his cheek. "I'll go start the water."

Reki's heart skipped a beat. How did Langa always know what to say at the perfect time? It wasn't fair at all, especially since Langa was a man of few words, at least around other people. He noticed how Langa always talked more, even rambled, when he was around Reki, and that made him feel overjoyed.

Langa, on the other hand, once shielded by the bathroom door, was internally freaking out. His heart felt like it was about to beat out of his chest as he turned the water on, his hand trembling as he turned the shower handle. He couldn't believe how forward he was being with Reki. Langa's suggestion was blunt, even for him. Though, a small part of him was looking forward to this intimate moment with his boyfriend. (author's note: NOT IN A FREAKY WAY.!! anyways)

After the water had warmed up and Langa put a hand under it to confirm the temperature, he called out to Reki, telling him that the shower was ready and he could enter.

"Reki, it's ready!" His soft voice carried past the door. In the time it took for Reki to enter the bathroom, Langa had already gotten undressed and walked into the shower, tilting his head back to feel the warm water soak his scalp. The door creaked gently as Reki slowly opened it, peeking inside to get a glance at Langa's body, mustering up the courage to just walk inside and reveal himself.

"Langa..." He mumbled under his breath, stepping fully into the bathroom. Noticing how Langa was already fully naked in the shower, Reki felt his face heat up. Sure, he had seen his boyfriend shirtless before, but this, this was way different. Langa's beauty was on a whole different level now, but Reki still found his eyes locking with Langa's. Despite all of this, Reki still found the most beautiful part of his boyfriend to be the way he looked at him, the way his eyes shimmered with nothing but love.

The red-haired boy awkwardly cleared his throat as he forced himself to trudge forward, his bare feet hitting the tile floor. He pulled back the curtain and got a clearer view of Langa, and now his face turned as red as a tomato.

"Hi," Langa said with a soft smile. "You look pretty."

Reki found himself looking anywhere except Langa's eyes. "I...thanks. I'm gonna just hop in now if you don't mind...um..."

Langa reached out one of his hands to invite Reki to join him with a soft smile. Reki took his boyfriend's hand, letting himself get pulled inside. Reki stepped into the shower, slipping behind Langa and standing right behind him. Langa turned around to face him, shifting around to let Reki stand under the warm water instead.

"Here, the water's warm." Now behind Reki, Langa spoke gently, running a hand through his damp blue hair.

Reki nodded slowly in agreement, letting the water soak his usual messy red hair. The spikes of his hair quickly fell as soon as the water hit it, a sight Langa had only seen once. He wasn't used to Reki's hair being so flat, but it was a little cute in some strange way. Langa wrapped his arms around Reki's bare waist, leaning forward to rest his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. Reki yelped in surprise, his body tensing up as he felt Langa's bare, wet skin against his back.

"H-hey-" He squeaked out, but Langa ignored him, instead nuzzling his face into the crook of Reki's neck.

Reki squeezed his eyes shut, trying his best to regain his composure. He frantically put his hands on Langa's wrists, grasping them tightly. He felt his breath catch in his throat, unable to move or speak, only consumed by thoughts that certainly were not in the Bible.

"Are you okay?" Langa questioned, his breathing tickling Reki's ear.

"U-um-" Reki couldn't form the words as his mind was blurred at the thought of Langa's slender hands on his waist. The sudden contact, this position, it was too much for Reki to handle.

"Is this..." Langa quickly realized Reki's discomfort. He sighed, letting go of Reki's waist and taking a step back. Langa waited for his boyfriend to turn around before speaking again. A part of him wanted Reki to speak, but Langa thought it'd be best to finish his sentence first. "Is this okay?"

Reki somberly shook his head, soon being forced to look up at Langa as his boyfriend took hold of his chin, tilting it upwards. Langa narrowed his concerned, teal eyes, intently searching Reki's expression. He didn't admit it out loud, but Langa swore he could see a tear or two run-down Reki's face. Or was it just the water? It must have been. Langa had only ever seen Reki cry once in his life, and there was no way—at least he didn't want there to be—that Langa was the source of those tears that stained Reki's face.

"I'm not ready, Langa. I'm sorry, I just—" Reki stammered, his voice breaking as he went on.

"Hey, hey. Shhh, love, it's okay. I wasn't...I wasn't going to do anything crazy. I just wanted to—" Langa bit his tongue, knowing that trying to justify himself wouldn't help the current situation. "We don't have to rush into anything, okay?"

"But...what if you want to, and I just hold you back? I don't want to be a burden to you. That's the last thing I want."

"Reki, we have all the time in the world to figure things out. I'm not going to leave your side...ever."

"Ever?"

"I promise."

Reki's expression softened as he looked up at his boyfriend. He found his hands wrapping around the taller man's shoulders, embracing him and pulling him slightly closer so that their chests lightly brushed against each other. The air suddenly thickened as the two became so close, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. The two always felt this certain warmth when they were close to each other.

This time, however, Reki took the lead as he slowly pressed his lips against Langa's. His chapped ones enveloped Langa's soft ones, melting together in a fire of ardent love. Reki brought his hand up to grasp onto the back of Langa's head, his fingers digging into his boyfriend's wet blue hair. Langa returned the kiss with equal passion, leaning down and closer to Reki as his arms found their way up to Reki's back. Langa's hand desperately traced every contour of Reki's bare back until they reached his shoulder blades. The two panted for air as the kiss deepened, grasping onto each other like a lifeline.

"Reki-" Langa gasped out as he pulled back, only for a brief moment before continuing the kiss.

Reki grunted as Langa spoke, the sound of his name spoken in such a tone echoed in his ears. He pulled back after multiple seconds until he physically had to catch his breath. He looked up at Langa with dilated pupils, his amber eyes glossy with affection. Again, he shot a toothy grin up at his boyfriend, baring his teeth happily.

"I love you." He blurted out, his lips curving awkwardly upwards.

Langa breathlessly chuckled at Reki's exhaustion. "Love you more."

Reki and Langa lay exhausted in Langa's bed., tired but comfortable. The faint sounds of the movie they decided to put on played in the background as the two lovers cuddled up close to one another, enjoying each other's gentle embrace. They quietly reminisced over the events of their day, softly being lulled to sleep as they stared outside, watching the peaceful snowfall.
