“Only one more Shadow!” Mitsuru called out
“That Shadow s’got nothing on us!” Junpei cheered.
“Let’s get this over with.” Makoto said.
Akihiko placed the cold silver gun against his forehead. The trigger waits patiently for his que.
In front of him is a big gelatinous shadow donning a lacquered mask.
His nerves tense and he pulls the trigger.
“Persona!”
Electricity charges up at its hand rod and the ball of electricity flies towards the Shadow.
It hits a translucent shield in front of the Shadow. It’s magic mirror.
Akihiko’s eyes widened. He watched as the bright electricity bounces off the shield and disperse into long strings of lightning. Each strand of lightning blasted at every one of his teammates.
“No!” He shouted. He saw his teammates scrunch up in pain.
Mitsuru stumbles but keeps her ground.
“Owie owie owie!” Junpei just screams and shakes.
Before Akihiko could turn behind him he hears a blood curdling scream.
He turns to see Makoto keeling over. His face was writhing and his body was stunned.
Akihiko picked up his feet and made a run for him.
Makoto slowly falls forward. He had no control over his limp body.
Panic began seeping into Akihiko’s thoughts.
He’s weak to electricity! Why did I let this happen?
Makoto’s knees hit the floor and he falls onto his face.
No! He has to be alive! He has to!
By the time Akihiko kneels by Makoto’s side his body is still jittering from the blast.
“Yuki!”
He picked up Makoto. His face is roughened up and his eyes were dazed and pupils unfocused. The sight made Akihiko feel more frantic. He looked at Makoto’s body, his clothes had tears and burns. That must’ve hurt really bad.
Is his heart still beating? Is he breathing? Akihiko needed answers.
Akihiko leaned over and pulled Makoto close to him. He put his ear on his chest.
His heart was still beating.
He felt glad but mad at himself. If he didn’t use zio this wouldn’t have hit his teammates and especially Makoto. He didn’t protect him, he hurt him.
Akihiko cursed at himself. He felt angry. All he had to do was hit the enemy and he failed. How could he have done this to his leader?
He took his evoker, shot himself and healed Makoto, it only slightly rejuvenated him.
Akihiko cradled Makoto in his arm and swept Makoto’s hair, his eyes were still lost.
“Yuki, are you alright? Look at me. Yuki, do you hear me?”
Only small murmurs could be heard. Akihiko signed in relief.
“Akihiko, look out!” Mitsuru screamed.
The enemy behind him approached. The enemy charged its attack and swiftly swiped Akihiko.
He forced Makoto off of him and stood in front of the attack. He took the hit for him. It hurt, he felt it in his bones. He was sent flying.
Akihiko hits the ground. Pain shoots into his body. He’s dizzy.
Mitsuru runs up to Akihiko and props him up.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m fine but Yuki isn’t!”
Akihiko looks over to where his body lies. He is still barely moving.
He needs to be near him. He needs to protect him.
The enemy sees Makoto. It aims at him.
“No!”
He summons his persona to blast it with a physical hit.
It hits the shadow causing it to recoil in pain. But it recovers and it aims for Makoto again.
Akihiko charged towards it.
“It’s going to hurt him!” Mitsuru shouted. She shoots the monster with ice and it freezes.
“Don’t worry Sanada san! I got you!” Junpei said as he magically boosts Akihiko’s strength.
He punches the shadow. His punch was stronger and it broke open the ice that envelopes the Shadow. It screams in pain.
Akihiko goes up to Makoto and scoops him up in his arms.
“Yuki!”
Makoto mutters. It made Akihiko stare intently at his face.
“S-Senpai?” He said as he regained consciousness.
“You’re ok!”
“Senpai, what’s going on?” He still wasn’t fully aware of the situation.
“The Shadow reflected my zio, and it hit you… It’s my fault.” Akihiko looked down in remorse.
Makoto put a hand on Akihiko’s face.
“A little thunder’s not going to keep me down.” He then hoisted himself up with Akihiko’s help.
“Heh, you’re right. What am I thinking? Underestimating our leader like that.”
Makoto nudges Akihiko with his body affectionately.
“Let’s go, Senpai.”
Akihiko shook out his hands and did little jumps.
“That Shadow won’t know what hit him.” Akihiko said.
The two of them rushed towards the Shadow together.
