Chapter Text
—Percy—
Percy was nervous, it was his first time living in a different city, Okay Gotham wasn’t thaaat far from New york and sure he and Annabeth have traveled places further away but this felt like this was a big change.
On the one hand Gotham was supposed to have no monsters but that was because they were scared of the place. Gotham had higher crime rates than New York somehow. So yeah Percy felt like his nervousness was somewhat justified. It felt like they were trading one crazy world for another.
“Relax seaweed brain” Annabeth was folding clothes into a case. “A gap year will be good for us, we have had back to back quests for years now.”
Percy laughed “I can’t believe Gotham is a break for us”
Annabeth let out a giggle “they should really advertise Gotham as a demigod vacation spot.”
Percy pictured a tour bus full of demigods let loose in the city “Imagine, if the crime rates are bad now…”.
Annabeth bit her lip “you know we don’t have to go if you don’t want to.”
Percy raised an eyebrow “No way I’m letting you pass up the opportunity of interning for Wayne industries. Besides my mom’s friend opened a cafe in Gotham and she wants workers there"
“Is that Edith?”
“Yeah mom worked with her back when she worked in Sweet on America. I think they bonded over the fact that they both were single moms with teenagers.”
Annabeth nodded as she pushed down the clothes in her case, her clothes were folded so neatly that there was no room for air. Percy’s case in comparison had clothes thrown in haphazardly. Annabeth looked up from her packing and picked up a hairbrush that she left on Percy’s bedside table “it’s nice that she finally got to open that cafe”.
Percy hummed in agreement “yeah, but mom’s worried about her. She’s hoping that me being there will help keep anyone away who thinks the cafe will be an easy target.”
Annabeth zipped up her case “okay that should be it”.
Sally peeked round the door “I made going away cookies”. The smell of freshly baked cookies trailed in from the kitchen. Percy smiled widely “heck yeah” and ran to the kitchen.
Annabeth rolled her eyes “eat them all before I get there and you’re dead, seaweed brain”.
—Jason(the dc one)—
Jason was getting neighbours today, He wasn’t happy. He had a good thing going, his upstairs neighbour would blare music at night and his downstairs neighbour was deaf so he didn’t have to worry about people hearing him leave at night.
Now the empty apartment next to his was being occupied he would actually have to be careful about coming and going ugh. He glared out his window at the car he presumed was theirs and sighed, whatever as long as they don’t try to talk to him.
…
A bit later a knock came from the door, and Jason opened the door to two college age kids. One had a swimmers build and the was giving him a look that he normally associated with the residents of the Wayne manor seemingly picking him apart for weaknesses.
Jason looked down, they brought cookies, blue ones, he was 90% sure they weren’t poisoned. Wordlessly Jason opened the door, death by cookie is how Jason wants to go out.
His two new neighbours introduced themselves as Annabeth and Percy. They definitely were not locals, for one Gothamites would never go round and meet the neighbours and also ‘Percy’ had a strong New York accent. Though the pair did give off the signature don’t fuck with me vibes of a Gotham local.
He should probably make conversation before eating their cookies “So what brings you to Gotham”.
Annabeth spoke first: “we’re taking a gap year here.”
What kinda crazy people come to Gotham for a gap year. His surprise must have shown on his face because Percy said “wise girl here got an internship in Wayne industries”. Okay that made sense, actually no it didn’t ‘cause Jason was pretty sure Wayne industries rarely did internships. Maybe he would ask Tim about it. Actually scratch that he would rather die.
The rest of the two’s visit was surprisingly pleasant. That's not to say that they were best friends but they were probably on the saying-good-morning-when-they-passed-each-other-in-the-hallways level of acquaintances. Jason mentally patted himself on the back for having a normal conversation.
