Summary
Mornings were hardest.
Mornings were even harder when you were extremely hungover from the night before, which just so happened to be new years. Will was super drunk. Like, couldn't-see-straight, slurring-his-words, clinging-to-Mike-because-the-floor-was-spinning drunk. It had started out innocently enough; a couple of drinks to loosen up, some shots for fun, and before he knew it, he was three sheets to the wind. Mike had been keeping an eye on him, sipping on a ginger ale and watching his best friend (boyfriend?) with a mix of amusement and worry.
Christmas Day had been a blur of emotions. The text from his dad had come out of the blue, like a slap in the face after all the progress he'd made. The words echoed in his head: "Hey son, I want to take you to lunch on the third. We have so much to catch up on." It had been almost two years since they'd last seen each other, and Will had hoped that maybe, just maybe, he could keep his distance a little longer.
