Demon/Therapist Friend

Summary:

Crowley is the designated group adult, the designated group driver, their house is the designated movie spot, but he's also the designated group therapist
Written for Spooktober, Day 9. Tears

Notes:

Unlike the other two fanfics I've written for these four, this was written sober. I'm infusing a tiny bit of plot into this chaos universe and it's going to be sad. You've been warned. I'm also mildly dyslexic, so keep that in mind
Enjoy :)

Work Text:

Rose slumped onto Crowley's sofa. He'd been surprised to have her show up at their door. Their group hadn't planned anything. She pouted at him.

"What?" Crowley asked. Rose kept pouting at them.

"Wine," she finally said. "The sad wine," she added. Crowley sighed. That was the problem with having three (mostly) human friends from other universes, they all got sad about home sometimes. Crowley and Rose had accidentally found a specific wine that Rose really liked when she was sad, and they'd made a stock of it in the kitchen.

Crowley miracled two bottles of Rose's designated sad wine onto the coffee table, alongside two glasses. Rose wasn't going to use a glass, but it felt better to have it there anyway.

"I miss home," Rose said as she uncorked a bottle. She offered it to Crowley who was happy to take it.

"My mum must be so worried about me," Rose continued. She paused as Crowley poured a generous amount of the wine into her glass. Rose took the bottle back from him and took a sip straight from it.

"That's if the Doctor's even told her I'm missing," she said. Crowley wasn't really sure how to help her. Despite their years of experience on Earth, there wasn't exactly anything to fall back on with this whole thing. As far as Crowley was aware there were only three people that had fallen in from different universes. And they'd all happened at the same time.

"I'm sure they're looking for you," he said, swirling her wineglass around.

"How do you even look for someone that fell into a different universe?" Rose asked. Crowley shrugged. "I didn't even know there were other universes before now!" Crowley hummed. In fairness, they also hadn't known other universes had existed until she'd met Rose, Peter, and Percy.

"You know," Rose started, pausing to take several gulps from the bottle. She sighed and looked out the window, "I was in love with the Doctor."

"I suspected," Crowley said, awkwardly offering her a smile.

"I wanted to travel with him forever," Rose said sadly. She glanced down to the bottle and took a few more sips.

"Maybe you'll find a way home," he said. Rose shrugged. Rose smiled slightly but it didn't reach her eyes.

"I should be travelling in space and time with that alien," she said. "How can I just move on from that?"

"Life goes on," Crowley said. He tried to think of something else vaguely supportive to say.

"So must I suppose," she said. Crowley shrugged.

"You can mourn," they said after a moment. "I think that's part of being human. I wasn't exactly involved in the human making process though." Rose laughed slightly and Crowley took another sip from his glass.

"It's not fair though is it? Cause I've got a life now. I've got you, and Peter, and Percy. But have they even moved on? Is the Doctor still travelling or is he looking for me? Can he even find me?" Rose said, rambling slightly. She'd started to cry at some point. Crowley wasn't good at dealing with crying, or most human emotions.

Rose didn't seem to mind that he wasn't the best. She swirled the bottle of wine around and Crowley mirrored her with their wine glass. They both took swigs from their wine.

"You can have a life, and you can grieve too," Crowley said eventually.

"Yeah, suppose so," she said shrugging.

Crowley didn't have anything else to say, so they just sat there in silence. Both drinking wine. Eventually Rose found the tv remote, and turned it on to some boring daytime talk show that neither of them really cared to pay attention to.

Their session of wine drinking, and boring tv, was interrupted by a patterned knock at the door. Two fists hit the door in a pattern that seemed to be created on the spot.

"Peter," Rose said, pouting at the door. Crowley nodded and waved his hand, opening the door.

"We're in here," Crowley called, not really raising his voice. They both knew that Peter could hear them clearly. The front door closed and they turned to the door.

Peter crawled through the doorway from the ceiling, Crowley laughed while Rose looked away.

"Star Wars time," Peter said, dropping from the ceiling onto the armchair. Crowley hummed but waved his hand and switched the tv to play Peter's favourite star wars movie.

"Missing home?" Rose asked. Peter nodded and bunched himself up into the corner of the armchair. Rose tossed him the blanket that they had forced Crowley to keep over the back of the sofa to him. Peter hummed and wrapped himself up in it.

"I miss swinging around," he said.

"You could do that here," Crowley suggested. Both Peter and Rose snorted.

"Can't, Spider-Man is a comic book and movies here. And I'm not going to look at any of them just in case," Peter said. Rose hummed. The same was true for her, Doctor Who was a tv show, and while she was curious about it, she didn't dare watch just in case. She didn't want to know if it was accurate, and if it was she didn't want to know the Doctor's past or her future.

"You could, be a comic copy-cat," Rose suggested. Peter laughed slightly.

"Nah, I'll just stick to climbing ceilings," he said. "I miss my aunt."

"I miss my mum," Rose agreed.

"Do you think we'll ever get back?" Peter asked. She shrugged and looked at the wine bottle.

"You might," Crowley said, swirling his wine around in their glass. Rose and Peter hummed.

"I miss everything about home," Peter said. He'd started crying, just slightly, and Rose stood from the sofa. She left the wine bottle on the coffee table. Crowley watched as she squeezed onto the arm chair with him and held him close.

"There was this cheap little fish and chip shop near where I lived with my mum," Rose said. "The Doctor took me there once, right after he showed me the world ending. It was out first date. We used to go back every time we stopped on Earth to visit my mum."

"Mr Stark used to get me and May thai food, May didn't like him spending money on us but he'd also eat with us so it sort evened out for her," Peter said.

Crowley hummed. He didn't exactly have any stories to share. Well, there was Aziraphale, but he didn't feel ready to talk about that.

"What if she gets lost? My mum asked him that once," Rose said. "I hope he finds me."

"Luck be with you," Crowley mumbled.

"I miss the lab," Peter said. Rose hummed.

"I miss the TARDIS," she said.

"Let's go for a drive," Crowley said, but they didn't make a move to get up.

"You're not sober," Peter pointed out. Crowley shrugged.

"I could sober up," they said. Rose hummed. It was weird to witness, but Crowley did that sometimes. Before he could start the process there was a very fast knock at the door.

"Percy!" Rose said, not shouting because she was right by Peter's ears. Crowley waved their hand and opened the door. Percy pushed the door shut behind him and wandered through to the living room. He flopped face first onto the sofa and rolled onto his back.

"Blue food," Percy requested, turning to Crowley. He laughed but stood and headed for the kitchen. They had a stash of food in there, food that would never go off, and he was able to make most of it blue.

They piled some of it onto a tray and waved his arm over it. A miracle turned it blue. He took it through to the living room and dropped it on the table.

"I miss Annabeth, and my mum, and Paul," Percy said as soon as she'd grabbed a blue sausage roll.

"It's a very grieving day today huh?" Rose asked. Percy nodded.

"If you finish the blue food, we can go for a drive," Crowley offered.

"Get our minds off of it all for just a moment," Rose mumbled. Percy nodded.

"Only if you sober up," Peter said, cuddling into Rose's side. Crowley nodded as he slunk into the chair.
