Work Text:

“I warned you,” Gojo muttered, he bent down watching as Megumi huffed looking away from him in spite.

From the looks of it it seems like Megumi got into another fight with some kids, and lost of course. His face was beaten and battered and it seemed like he was going to have two black eyes soon enough from the way that they were swelling.

Perfect, just perfect really.

“Megumi, are you going to look at me or are you going to continue sulking?” Gojo teased, he flicked a sharp strand of black hair from Megumi’s face and watched as the other whined at the gesture, sometimes he forgets that he’s just a kid. He certainly didn’t act like one when he first met him.

“You can leave y’know,” Megumi muttered, he stood up and Gojo didn’t miss the wince that came from his lips or the way that his legs seemed to tremble. His knees were red and scraped so they probably hurt a lot, and he probably shouldn’t be standing up right now…

“Why would I do that? To let you treat yourself? Hate to break it to you buddy but I don’t think that you’re a very experienced doctor,” Gojo teased once more, only furthering Megumi’s frown.

“What, like you are?”

“I’m a better one than you,”

“That’s not saying much,” Megumi replied bitterly. “I’m a kid, I think anyone has better medical experience than me,”

“Medical experience huh, what a big word-”

“Shut up,” Megumi began walking away so Gojo grabbed his arm and lifted him up by it, it was the one that didn’t seem like it might be somewhat broken at the moment and he was glad when he didn’t see any sort of discomfort on Megumi’s face when he did so.

Megumi whined at it, his feet kicking in the air before he looked up to glare at Gojo.

“Put me down,” he demanded and Gojo held back a smile. It was quite adorable seeing a literal kid try and order him around.

“You don’t get to walk away from me ‘Gumi,” Gojo booped his nose and watched as Megumi’s nose wrinkled in distaste at the gesture. “Besides, you’re injured. I know someone who can help you,” he hummed before setting him back down again, although he wasn’t letting go of his wrist. Mostly because he knew that the minute he did that Megumi would run off and try to treat it himself, and despite being not all too good at the whole ‘taking care of another human being’ thing he liked to think that Megumi trying to treat his own wounds might not be such a good idea.

“I don’t trust you,”

“You should trust her, she even takes care of me too!” Gojo smiled, pointing to himself.

“Tsumiki takes care of you,” Megumi deadpanned. “She helped you with cooking the other day, it’s the only reason why we still have a house,”

Gojo’s eye twitched a little at the mention of the… incident the other day, but in his defense how was he supposed to know how to cook? He never had to before, it’s not like six eyes could predict that in the future he’d be taking care of a sea urchin and his sweet sister of all things, and even if it could it’s not like he’d believe it, or think that it’d be this hard in the first place.

“You trust Tsumiki do you not?”

“...”

“Exactly! See you’ll be fine, just let me call up Shoko and we’ll be good,” He gave megumi a thumbs up as he took out his phone, finally letting go of the others wrist and watching as Megumi immediately pulled away, although thankfully he wasn’t running off somewhere and trying to ‘treat’ his wounds, which would probably only make them worse.

It only took a few calls before Shoko finally picked up.

“What do you want Satoru,” Shoko sighed, her voice sounded a lot more tired than usual and Gojo frowned at the sound of it, it seemed like she hadn't been getting sleep in a while. Just another thing about being the most skilled RCT user that they have, from what he learned it sucked. Everything about it sucked.

“Hi Shoko~ How are you?” Gojo replied, keeping his voice upbeat, he can hear a small scoff from her end along with the squelching of something in the background, he ignores it. She’s probably working on a body.

“Fine, what do you want?” Shoko repeated and Gojo whined a little at the tone that she used.

“I’m doing great! Thank you so much for caring about me and my well being Shoko~” Gojo said sarcastically, still keeping his voice and tone light and playful.

“I know that you’re fine, if you’re calling you’re fine. If you’re not calling then something’s wrong,” Shoko stated blankly and he had to admit… She was right. When everything happened with Geto he had stopped calling her and soon after she had to approach him and according to her ‘make sure that his dumbass hadn’t killed itself yet with all of the missions he’s been taking on’ he got yelled at for a good minute that time.

“Ah! Well you got me there! Well this kid Megumi that I’ve been watching seems to have gotten himself in a little bit of a scuffle at school! So I was wondering if you could come over and heal him a bit?” Gojo looked over to Megumi who was preoccupied with his divine dogs. “I think that he might’ve broken something… or the other kids did- y’know how it is,” Gojo added in a hushed tone.

He hears a laugh from the other side.

“Ah alright then, I’ll see you in a minute Satoru,”

She hangs up and he’s left there with Megumi, he has half the mind to tell Megumi to put his dogs away, tell him that they’re draining him of his energy and that he doesn’t need that right now but he doesn’t, instead he sits on the couch and watches Megumi curl up next to them with a smile.

When Shoko arrives there Megumi instantly wakes up from what Gojo assumes to be a short nap and looks over to Shoko and then back to him.

“I didn’t know you knew a woman,” He stated so blankly that Gojo could hear the snort from Shoko.

“What?! I’m very popular with the ladies, Megumi!” Gojo shouted in response grabbing the boy and scooping him up into his arms despite the thrashing around, he could see the small smile of amusement from Shoko as he did so.

“Alright put the poor kid down Satoru, I’ve gotta make sure everythings fine with him,” Shoko sighed.

Gojo put Megumi down and watched as Shoko took his hand and inspected him, looking at him up and down and feeling his arms and legs, checking for any sign of bruising and every time Megumi winced she would stop and ask him how bad it felt. Gojo couldn’t help but glare at Megumi, if he did that to him then he would be kicking and screaming for him to get away and pouting the whole time. But with Shoko he seemed a lot stiller, calmer even.

Gojo watched as small bits of cursed energy began humming over Shoko’s hands as she healed him, running up and down his hand and arms quite a bit before stopping and seemingly taking a break on that section to work on another before returning back to his hand. It did look quite bad but from the way that Shoko was treating it Gojo could tell that it was likely broken.

After a few minutes Shoko stepped back from Megumi and glanced over to Gojo and gestured back over to the kid who seemed mostly healed by now. Megumi was bending his limbs cautiously and stepping back and forth with his feet as if to make sure that he still had his limbs intact before looking at Shoko and nodding in thanks.

“Thank you…” He trailed off looking up at her as if expecting her to give him her last name but she just laughed instead.

“Just call me Shoko kid,” she ruffled his hair a little and Gojo knew that was Megumi attempting (and succeeding) to piss him off.

“Thank you Shoko,” Megumi muttered and looked over to Gojo, a small smile quirking up on his lips, oh this fucking kid .

“Alright! Well that’s enough of that!” Gojo huffed instantly shooing Shoko out the door as she laughed at him. The moment the two of them were outside she sighed and smiled at him.

“Don’t tell me you’re jealous that Megumi likes me more than you?” She teased. Gojo looked away embarrassed.

“I’m not jealous!” Gojo huffed shaking his head. “I’m just giving Megumi some space, you know how too much cursed energy can affect children these days Shoko,” Gojo tutted.

“Uh huh, well call me if anything happens again alright?” she smiled, turning around and waving goodbye.

Gojo laughed. “When do I not?” he called back and he could see the way her shoulders shook once with a huff of laughter and Gojo turned around walking back inside and seeing Megumi sit on the couch.

Gojo scooped him up once again pulling him into a hug as Megumi thrashed around violently now that his injuries weren’t holding him back. “You scared me so much Megumi! What if something happened to you? What would I do?!” Gojo giggled holding him as Megumi hissed at the hug.

“Let me go, you idiot!”

“Sorry Megs but it seems that you’re stuck with me!”

“This is truly a fate worse than death,”

“Hey!”
