To My Future Self (And the Boy I Used to Love)

Summary:

Fueled by a 7th grade school project, 13 year old Kim Seungmin begins writing letters to his future self. He hopes to one day remind himself what being young was like, keeping a small time capsule of his teenage thoughts.

That is, before his home life is thrown of the tracks by a 14 year old Lee Minho.

Seungmin spends nearly every letter ranting about how much he hates, likes and soon loves him. Suddenly surrounded in everything that is "My Minho-Hyung".

Seungmin struggles to understand him at first, and when he does, he learns that he might not fully understand himself. But no matter what, he knows he doesn't ever want Minho to leave.

But, alas. He does.

"I've only known him for a month, and somehow, he still manages to be the kindest friend that I've ever had. Because I don't care about being weird or normal. I don't care. Not like I thought I did.

Because, like hyung said,

I don't think I mind it so much when Minho's the one with me.

- Kim Seungmin"

Chapter 1: 1 - 16 - 2020

Chapter Text

January 16th, 2020

     Dear future me,

The year is 2020 and I've just been assigned the most atomically boring writing assignment in the history of everything. I have to write at least three paragraphs, all with indents and at least five complete sentences, and I have to tell you my favorite color, my favorite food, my favorite sport, how old I am and what I like to do in my free time.

So, here you go. My favorite color is yellow, my favorite food is lamb stew, my favorite sport is baseball, I'm thirteen and I like to not write boring school assignments in my free time. Blah blah blah blah. Shlawnpoupha. There, five sentences.

I don't know what else to write. So I'm just gonna keep saying random things until I get five more sentences. I like muffins. My sister Namra has weird hair. Baseball is fun.

Okay bye,

     - Kim Seungmin
