“1.7, and I will repeat it for the last time!”
Charlie sighed, his chin on the table. Cameron and Meeks have been arguing over some dumb math equation for like five minutes now, and he was utterly bored.
"1.8, Cameron, it's 1.8.” Meeks rested his cheek on his hand, watching Cameron over his glasses.
Cameron huffed, giving Meeks a sharp look. “Listen, there is no way it's 1.8, I checked it several times and it's absolutely not 1.8!”
Charlie twirled his pencil between his fingers, observing his surroundings. Neil and Todd were quietly talking by the bookshelf, Knox was somewhere else and Pitts was working on the radio. Meeks was supposed to help him but he ‘overheard Cameron making a mistake while teaching Charlie' and decided to step in. It triggered Cameron beyond the limit, the boy hated being corrected.
Meeks sighed. “Can you check one more time then?”
"No.” Cameron grumbled, crossing his arms, which made Charlie snicker.
“Aren't you supposed to be the reasonable and mature one, Cam?” He mocked with amusement.
Cameron glared at Charlie. “Don’t call me that, Dalton. And I am mature, it's just that idiot who won't understand that he's in the wrong!”
Meeks groaned, taking off his glasses to wipe them. “Seriously, calm down. It's just a math problem…”
Cameron scoffed. “Yeah, a math problem that-” He suddenly cut himself off, looking at the math paper with a frown.
Charlie raised his eyebrow. He shifted his gaze from Cameron to Meeks, who smirked slightly, then back at Cam.
Cameron bit the inside of his cheek, his ears reddening slightly. “...shut up.”
Meeks chuckled, a little smugly. Cameron looked away, puffing his cheeks a bit. “It's… whatever. Whatever.” He mumbled, feeling his cheeks heating up.
Meeks bit his lip to prevent himself from laughing as he stood up and casually went back to Pitts and their radio.
Charlie, however, wasn't going to restrain himself. He laughed out loud, looking at Cameron. “My, my, is Richard Cameron wrong for the first time in his life?” He taunted.
Cameron glared at Charlie, his face flushed and his arms tightly crossed on his chest, looking rather defensively. “Shut. Up. I… I just misread a number. A minor mistake.” He grumbled under his breath.
Charlie smirked. “Oh, yeah, a minor mistake. You would get zero points for that.” He emphasized the word ‘zero’.
“Ugh.” Cameron looked at the paper with a clenched jaw and crumpled it into a ball.
Charlie's smirk widened at that, he enjoyed seeing Cameron so embarrassed and frustrated. “Easy there, your head's gonna explode.”
Cameron ignored Charlie's taunts this time, throwing the ball into the trashcan and sitting at the table with a huff. He despised being in the wrong, it made him feel stupid. His cheeks were still heated up, making the freckles somewhat more visible. He glanced at Charlie, still pouting, and rolled his eyes. “Are we gonna go back to studying or what?”
Charlie chuckled, pretending to ponder. “I don't know if I want someone who just proved himself wrong to teach me~”
Cameron groaned. “Oh, stop that already…! I just… I just said it wrong. I knew the right answer.”
“Yeah, sure.” Charlie teased, looking back at the math book. “But I guess I have to ignore that. We still have that test tomorrow.”
Cameron huffed, moving the chair closer to Charlie. “Exactly. So shut your mouth and pay attention.” He muttered.
Charlie raised his eyebrow, smirking. “Oh, so bossy…”
Cameron lightly smacked Charlie's head, earning a hiss from the boy. “Pay attention for once in your life.”
“Gosh, fine…”
