    “...i-it’s not real—” toya clutches his phone like a lifeline. akito’s voice dims the horrid, pitchy music more and more. “a-akito, keep talking, please. i’ll do anything.”

    “okay, shh, toya. you’re okay,” akito whispers, sheets rustling from his bed. “do you want to tell me what’s not real?”

    his breath gets caught in his throat as he glances at his piano. untouched, yet through the darkness, his small silhouette sits there. he gently falls to the floor, eyes squeezed shut tightly. “i-i’m hearing things—i’m exhausted, h-hallucinating even, i don’t know w-what to do—”

     

    or, an exhausted, sleep deprived toya starts hearing his past mistakes.
