Work Text:

The evening air was thick with the scent of rain, and the soft patter of drops against the windows filled the room with a calming rhythm. Outside, the world had turned gray, the skies darkened with storm clouds rolling in. But inside, Seungmin and Lina were wrapped in the warmth of their cozy living room, the lights dimmed, and a few candles flickering in the corners, casting a gentle glow.

Lina sat on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her as she watched the rain trickle down the windowpanes. She absentmindedly ran her hand over her swollen belly, a quiet smile playing on her lips. Seungmin, sitting beside her, was absorbed in her every move. His gaze softened as he watched his wife, her beauty magnified in this peaceful moment, the glow of pregnancy making her seem ethereal.

“Is it comfortable?” he asked, gently adjusting the thick blanket around her shoulders, ensuring every part of her was cocooned in warmth.

Lina nodded, leaning into him, her head resting against his shoulder. “It’s perfect,” she whispered. She placed her hand on her belly again, guiding his hand to feel the baby’s gentle movements beneath her skin. “Our little one seems to enjoy the sound of rain. I think the baby’s been a bit more active today, though.”

Seungmin’s eyebrows lifted with interest. “Really?”

Seungmin’s eyes lit up, his hand resting protectively on her stomach. He smiled as he felt the baby shift slightly, a small yet powerful reminder of the new life they were waiting for. “I think it takes after you,” he chuckled, “loving the rain so much.”

Lina laughed softly, and Seungmin pressed a tender kiss on the top of her head. “Or maybe they it takes after you, always calm in the storm,” she teased, looking up at him, her eyes sparkling despite the dim light.

He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer until her body melted into his. They sat like that, wrapped in each other’s warmth, listening to the rain fall heavier, the wind now howling in the distance.

Every so often, Seungmin would drop a kiss on her forehead, her cheek, or her lips—soft, fleeting touches that conveyed the depth of his affection.

“This might be one of the last peaceful nights we have like this,” Lina mused, her voice soft, almost wistful.

She placed her hand over Seungmin’s, intertwining their fingers over her belly. “Once the baby is here, we’ll be in for some sleepless nights.”

Seungmin chuckled, pressing his lips to her temple. “I’m ready for it,” he whispered. “Every sleepless night, every early morning—anything, as long as it’s with you and our baby.”

Lina turned her head slightly to look at him, her heart swelling at the sincerity in his voice. “You’ll be an amazing father, Seungmin,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

There was no doubt in her mind—she had seen how gentle and caring he was with her, how protective he was of their little family. The way he spoke to their unborn child every night, whispered promises of love and support, melted her heart.

“And you’re already the most amazing mother,” Seungmin replied, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. His fingers traced the outline of her jaw before tilting her chin up to capture her lips in a slow, lingering kiss.

When they pulled away, Lina rested her head against his chest, her heart fluttering. His heartbeat was steady beneath her ear, the rhythm soothing, grounding her in the present. She felt safe, loved—like everything in the world was right as long as she was in his arms.

And then, as if on cue, there it was—a small, distinct nudge from within.

Lina gasped softly, her eyes widening as she grabbed Seungmin’s hand. “There,” she whispered, her voice filled with wonder. “Did you feel that?”

Seungmin’s breath caught in his throat. For a moment, he froze, not daring to move as his eyes locked on hers. Then, there it was again—another small, unmistakable movement from their baby, this time stronger, more defined.

“I felt it,” Seungmin breathed, his voice barely more than a whisper, as if speaking too loudly would break the magic of the moment. His face broke into the most radiant smile she had ever seen, his eyes shining with pure joy. “I felt them.”

Lina’s heart swelled as tears pricked the corners of her eyes. She hadn’t expected the moment to feel this overwhelming, this emotional. She leaned into Seungmin, pressing her forehead to his as both of them sat there, basking in the pure wonder of it all.

Lina nodded, unable to speak for a moment, her emotions catching in her throat. She let out a shaky breath, overwhelmed by how much love she felt at that moment—for their child, for Seungmin, for the life they were building together. “I can’t believe it,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “It’s really happening.”

Seungmin pulled her even closer, kissing her forehead, her cheeks, her lips, each kiss filled with an overwhelming sense of love and adoration. His hand never left her belly, even as he continued to whisper softly, “I love you, Lina. I love you so much.”

Lina smiled through her tears, her hand covering his as they both sat there, connected by the tiny life moving between them. “I love you too,” she whispered, her voice shaky but full of sincerity. “And I love our baby so much already.”

Outside, the storm raged on, but inside, they had built their own little sanctuary. The room was filled with the scent of lavender from the candles, and the faint glow of the flames danced on the walls, making everything feel intimate, sacred.

Seungmin’s hand slid down to rest on her belly again, and he gently rubbed circles there, his fingers moving in sync with the baby’s subtle movements. “I wonder who it’ll look like,” he said thoughtfully, his voice low, filled with wonder.

Lina smiled, her eyes half-closed as she imagined their child. “I hope it has your eyes,” she murmured. “Kind and warm.”

“And your smile,” Seungmin countered, “because that’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

She blushed, her heart swelling at his words, at the way he always knew how to make her feel cherished. In moments like this, where the world outside seemed distant, and all that mattered was the life they were building together, Lina felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

Seungmin had always been her rock, her constant, but now, seeing him prepare to be a father, her love for him had only deepened.

As the evening wore on, they stayed like that, wrapped in each other’s arms, occasionally murmuring about the future, about their hopes and dreams for the baby.

Seungmin would rub her back when she shifted uncomfortably, always attentive, always caring. And Lina would respond with soft kisses on his neck, a gentle touch of her hand on his face, silently conveying her gratitude for all that he was.

Eventually, the rain began to slow, and the wind died down, leaving only the quiet pitter-patter of drops on the window. Lina’s eyes fluttered closed, and Seungmin adjusted the blanket around her, watching as she drifted off to sleep.

With her head resting on his chest, Seungmin placed one last kiss on her forehead, his heart full as he held her close. He couldn’t wait for the day when their little one would be in their arms, completing the love they had built together.

But for now, he was content in this moment, in the quiet of the storm, holding the two most important people in his life.
