Quinn held the box tightly in his hand. It was all he had with him but the clothes on his back and the gun tucked in the small of his back. Everything else had been lost in a very strange series of events that he really had no way of explaining, or really understanding.
And he had no idea how he would be greeted when he knocked on the door. He hadn't left under the best of circumstances the last time he had been there. Quinn would be lucky if he even still lived there.
But he would get no where if he didn't try.
So he knocked on the door and waited for it to open.
Minuted passed and he was about to leave when it did. Eliot stood in the door with a scowl on his face and water dripping from his hair onto a towel. It was as clear as it could be that he had just gotten out of the shower.
"What do you want?" Eliot snarled.
"I brought chocolate," Quinn said, holding up the box. "It's from that one downtown."
Eliot sighed and opened the door just far enough for Quinn to squeeze past him. But not enough that he could avoid bumping into the other hitter.
"Is that some sort of apology?" Eliot asked.
"Yes," Quinn said. "I couldn't come back without something."
Eliot gave a look that could have been saying he was stupid for thinking he needed a gift or stupid for coming back at all. Either could be true with how things had previously left off. But he took the box and opened it.
"You did get the ones I like. I guess you can stay."
Quinn smiled at his lover.
"But you are taking a shower before getting into bed."
