Ezekiel watched as Cassandra bounced around the room with the last of her decorations, setting them up. The living room of their apartment had gone from the fairly neutral look it normally had (it was impossible for the three of them to agree on much else) to the absolute chaos of Cassandra decorating for a holiday. It was less than they often had since there wasn't going to be a party nor was there time since they had been on a mission. But she wanted at least a bit of the decor inside.
The three of them had spent the previous day putting up the decorations outside.
"Do you think Jacob will be back soon?" she asked as she placed the last of her spiders down.
"Considering you sent him out on the nearly impossible task of purchasing Halloween candy on Halloween? Probably not soon," Ezekiel responded.
"We need something for trick or treating," Cassandra said. "With all the decorations there's no way we won't get some."
She was excited about the idea. He knew she was and so did Jacob. Which is why he had agreed to go out. It was the first time they were going to be able to pass out candy in person since buying the house. Which Cassandra was excited about. She hadn't gotten to celebrate Halloween as a kid, it being another thing her parents wouldn't allow.
Just then the front door opened and Jacob walked in carrying multiple bags.
"I have returned successful in my quest!" he said holding the bags up. "We have candy."
Cassandra rushed over and took the bags, opening them to peek inside.
"This is perfect!" she said, beaming.
"Glad you like it. Only had to go to half a dozen stores."
The doorbell rang for the first time.
