Yongen-Jaya — Cafe Leblanc

Summary:

There was something already pleasant about the new normalcy of Yu’s life. The irony of that statement was painful considering everything that has happened in the past few months, yet it was true. So much had become a comfort.

OR: Yu is not new to Inaba in 2011. He is instead new to Yongen-Jaya in 2016.
OR: Persona 4 is smashed together with Persona 5.

Notes:

sorry guys i kind of died off for a while. i got buried in schoolwork then got sick and now im being dragged around for extracurriculars and lacked any motivation to write for a while

im sure this isn’t an original concept but i was looking around youtube and found a video where p4 characters were modded into p5 and my brain ran rampant with AU ideas. i don’t know if ill make this a big project or if this is a one time thing but i made a spreadsheet about it if that counts for anything

also to be frank none of this is like. up to par. i kind of just typed out whatever and rolled with it so it’s a bit boring and not ultra specific since im still figuring out this AU

alright im done talking down. any further thoughts will be at the bottom

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

There was something already pleasant about the new normalcy of Yu’s life. The irony of that statement was painful considering everything that has happened in the past few months (including a criminal record being slapped onto his name and finding another world), yet it was true. The smell of coffee. The taste of curry. Constant dog hair around him. Text messages from friends on the daily. Even going to a weird cognitive-based world could be called a kind of comfort.

“Yu, do you have any plans later tonight?” His uncle Ryotaro asked quietly as he did a once-over of his inventory one morning.

Yu ate another spoonful of curry at the counter, thinking before shaking his head. “No. I don’t think anything will come up either.” He quietly set his spoon down. “Do you want me to help with the cafe?”

An ever so small smile appeared on the other’s face. “I guess you read my mind.” He shrugged. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I’m leaving the offer out there…Maybe you’ll finally improve your skills.”

Yu hesitated on an eye roll in response. He wasn’t that bad of a cook. Even if he was, he at least cooked pretty well to the point where some of his friends always hinted that they wanted some of his lunch every time he brought one in. Last Saturday came to mind where both Yosuke and Rise kept trying to steal pieces of it. Truly, if they wanted some, they only had to ask.

He cleaned his bowl once he was done and went upstairs into the attic. There, he collected his things, made enough room in his bag for the little dog that insisted on coming with him every time, and walked towards Shujin Academy.

Notes:

if anyone is curious i will be getting back to my stupid souyo junk. the most recent story is done but i hate it so im gonna rewrite it when i have time

anyway. this is my way of saying that you will be hearing (more) about persona 5 royal content at some point. i haven’t finished yet but i can at least tell you i did finish shido’s palace and have plenty of thoughts (but whether i write them is tbd).

in other news MAYBE there will be a Halloween thing i write. possibly. i dunno. i don’t 100% expect to upload anything so i hope you all enjoy your holiday. constructive criticism is appreciated just dont throw hot coffee on me.
