Work Text:
Draken knew the words even before Mitsuya opened his mouth. It had been said so many times before that Draken could replicate the exact sentences, down to the tone as well.
"You don't have to do this, Ken."
Mitsuya's eyebrows shot up when Draken mimicked him perfectly.
Draken knew Mitsuya was worried that he had become an inconvenience to him, to the point that he had to change his routine. Draken knew no amount of explanations could convince Mitsuya that Draken was more than happy doing all these, to be so close with his mate, instead of being around somewhere else, incapable of taking his mind off his beloved.
It was not just the Alpha's instinct to protect his pregnant Omega in him, but Draken genuinely wanted to be in close proximity with Mitsuya, his mate, his very pregnant mate, especially when Mitsuya's due date was near.
"Why don't you listen to your Alpha when he says he wants to be with you, Taka?" Draken grinned as he joined Mitsuya on their new sofa.
Mitsuya had been so chipper once he found out Draken bought the furniture specially to cater to his needs. He was heavily pregnant and their old couch did a poor job at providing better seating. Mitsuya didn't even say anything, but Draken noticed the whole thing with a single moment of Mitsuya flinching and trying to squash down his discomfort.
"You're spoiling me too much," Mitsuya grumbled, but his mate snuggled to Draken immediately once he settled next to him.
The sofa could also be converted into a pull-out bed, so it was pretty comfy if Mitsuya wanted to relax his legs. Mitsuya had thought of it as a waste of money, excuse me, I could still walk to the bedroom if I wanted to lay down.
But in the end, Mitsuya was also not immune to the temptations of having a cozy movie night with his Alpha on their sofa bed.
Nothing was wrong with their bed at all and getting a new, much comfier spot to chill didn't hurt either.
"I love spoiling you. It'll be a big problem if I don't," Draken chuckled, hauling Mitsuya even closer to his arms.
He didn't bother to hide the fact that he was openly scenting Mitsuya.
The closer he was to his due date, the sweeter his mate smelled to him. And it wasn't even the kind that provoked Draken's hormone or anything.
At several integral points in his life, Draken was pretty sure he referred to Mitsuya as his home. And he was also pretty sure he had used the whole you smelled like home phrases whenever he was near his mate.
But right now, the sentence seemed to be amplified to the maximum.
Mitsuya was always intoxicating, and if Mitsuya was some kind of perfume he loved to sniff before, then now, he was like oxygen that Draken couldn't live without.
Mitsuya snorted.
For a moment, Draken was almost convinced his mate could read his mind.
"You can tone it down, Ken, I'm not a child." Mitsuya sighed. "I don't need to be coddled all the time."
Ah, the same old song.
About Draken leaving the bike shop early so that he could spend the afternoon with Mitsuya.
Their home date frequency had increased pretty significantly since Mitsuya arrived at the 30 weeks of his pregnancy.
Draken admittedly made more time to see and be around Mitsuya ever since. He had been keeping tabs on any sign of Mitsuya entering the crucial last week of the approaching date.
Their home date could be their last date before Mitsuya went to labor anytime, and Draken didn't want to miss the moment.
The side effect of this, him giving Mitsuya extra attention, was that Mitsuya couldn't accept him being that thorough without consequences.
Mitsuya had complained that Draken should set an example to his employees, now that he had hired several high schoolers at his place.
Inupi had adamantly refused Draken's idea of getting new people before. But with his presence at D&D Motors gradually decreased the closer Mitsuya was to his due date, Draken didn't want to be so cruel as to leave the business for Inupi to handle alone.
Inupi adapted quickly, whenever Draken bounced to check up on Mitsuya, but Draken knew, business was still business.
Thank God, those kids learned fast.
Even, if Inupi was initially wary with his decision, Draken could see how those young boys charmed him and he quickly enjoyed having them around.
Draken reached for the remote to turn on the TV.
"Is that so? I can't tell." Draken tousled the black lilac, grinning. "You don't look older even a day since the first time I saw you."
"We met when we're seven."
"Still as cute."
"So you're saying you're just getting an underage pregnant."
"Wow, I learn a new thing every day, I didn't know you're into age-play, Takashi."
The jab on his side was deserved, but Draken merely laughed.
There was a random variety show on, something about several actors and actresses playing games about their upcoming movie.
Draken turned the volume down, keeping the show on for the background noise. He didn't come home early to watch the TV, and he knew Mitsuya didn't want to either. They just wanted to be near each other.
Draken had read that the presence of their mate could provide great comfort to a pregnant Omega. Mitsuya didn't need to vocalize his needs and his wants, Draken would pride himself on picking up those all by himself.
Since he felt the same way.
Nothing soothed him more than the sight of Mitsuya and his growing belly. Nothing gave him solace more than hearing Mitsuya's voice, touching Mitsuya's skin, scenting Mitsuya whenever he was near.
Sometimes, Draken thought of himself as clingy, especially when it came to Mitsuya, but he wasn't ashamed to admit that yes, he had been more clingy these days.
He and Mitsuya were gonna face a life-changing event soon. That would permanently alter their relationship.
They were not just mating now, they were gonna bring a new life into this world.
"Ken," Mitsuya called, almost too quiet. Draken could smell the sudden spike of citrus, that he wrapped his arm around Mitsuya even tighter, as in anticipation.
"Yeah, Taka?"
The alarming scent didn't last long, the artemisia and lavender soon filled in.
"This child will be so lucky to have you as the father."
Draken blinked.
"I never thought, I would be in this situation in any future I've planned. But even if it's scary as heck, I'm glad I have you. I'm glad I'm keeping this child."
Draken remembered the first time he found out about Mitsuya carrying his child. The excitement, and also the fear. Having children was not in Mitsuya's dream. He remembered feeling torn because he was overjoyed but also scared for Mitsuya's behalf.
Mitsuya had made him very happy the day he decided he would carry on with his pregnancy for his own sake.
Not for Draken.
Because if it was, Draken knew he couldn't live with the knowledge that he had forced Mitsuya to do something he had never wanted.
"Ken, thank you for always being here," Mitsuya reached for Draken's face, angling him to look his way. Draken compelled. He should expect that he would be welcomed with the most beautiful amethyst he had ever seen, and yet the sight still surprised him. And yet, the sight still took his breath away. "Thank you for being the best mate, I could ever ask for."
Draken smiled at that. "You don't even need to ask, I'm always yours, Takashi."
Leaning down, he pecked Mitsuya softly.
"I love you, Ken," Mitsuya breathed out between their barely apart lips.
Draken stole his voice again.
"I love you, too."
They shared a few lazy kisses, before Draken noticed Mitsuya winced. It had been a while, he should change his position to make himself more comfortable. Draken helped Mitsuya adjust his sitting on their sofa bed.
It wasn't even a full minute before Mitsuya groaned.
Not in pain, only in annoyance.
"Why do I always want to pee when I am settled nicely, already," the grumble was muffled when he dropped his head right onto Draken's chest.
Draken laughed, kissing the black lilac affectionately.
"I'll help you, c'mon." He slid off the sofa so swiftly, offering his hands for Mitsuya to take while he tried to get up. He took a moment to caress Mitsuya's belly, talking rather seriously. "Don't inconvenience your daddy much, kiddo."
Draken heard Mitsuya huffed at his words like he was being ridiculous, but he caught Mitsuya trying to hide his smile.
"Our baby just can't wait to see us, huh?" Draken grinned, holding Mitsuya's hands to support him, as Draken guided him to the bathroom.
He half-expected Mitsuya to say something snarky in return, but Mitsuya squeezed his hands instead, smiling down at his baby bump.
Somehow, Draken knew the words even before Mitsuya opened his mouth. It hadn't been said so often before and yet, Draken could almost replicate the exact sentences, down to the tone as well.
What a wonder, getting his chest filled by such an inexplicable happiness that got him breathless.
"I can't wait to see you too, Sweetheart," Mitsuya said.
When Mitsuya happened to look up at Draken and smiled, Draken couldn't help to think to himself, how different was the trip to the bathroom this time.
