Summary:

Childe tries to teach his wife how to shoot a bow

Written for The Sumeru Akademiya | TGP's Inktober 2024. Prompt: Weapon

Notes:

This one is a really short one!

I intend for all of my inktober this year to be connected, same storyline I suppose. I'm going to TRY to keep which twin is the Traveler not said, but implied.

Inktober prompts can be found in advance at discord.gg/sumeru! This one is the 7th of October's prompt Weapon.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Just keep your eyes open and your arms steady.” Childe moved his wife's hands on his bow. “Adjust your aim if you need it.” She lowered her aim a little, watching the target. “Now release!” She released the arrow, watching it fire forward- only to implant into the ground a few feet away.

When her husband started snickering, she huffed out. “I told you! I can't fire a bow!” Lumine turned her head with a grumble. “And I thought you were supposed to be supportive!”

“Oh come on! I am supportive, comrade! I'll ALWAYS support you!” She ignored him as he ran his hands over her shoulders, rubbing them. “But come on, we can laugh at each other! You laugh at me all the time.”

“Not when you're firing arrows!”

“ESPECIALLY when I'm firing arrows!”

“Well-! You're the one who fires so strangely! Shouldn't you take your own advice and do less fancy footwork?”

“I was trained to always be moving, standing still and aiming doesn't fit me.” He took an arrow from the quiver strapped to her back. “Besides, I know you love to see this.” Lumine looked up as her husband threw the very arrow toward the target, landing a bullseye with little effort. She gulped at the sight, staring at the arrow. She loved to see him throw his arrows like that, it made her shudder at the amount of pure strength he had behind his arrow.

“Th-throw me…” Her eyes widened as he turned his head to look at her. She swallowed hard, avoiding his gaze. “I-I mean-! Help me with my bow skills! You can’t give me your old bow and not help me with it!” He let out a laugh, moving his hands to cup hers and pull her back to his chest.

“Alright, I’ll show you.” He adjusted their hands, pulling back the bow string with her. “Say when you’re ready to fire-” Lumine shifted to kiss him, leaning into his grip. It was a tender, warm kiss, releasing the arrow together.

Neither looked at where the arrow had landed, instead the blonde girl turned toward her husband, kissing him deeper as Childe pulled her in. She pressed him back, collapsing down to the ground with him as their kiss grew in intensity. The bow getting tossed back behind her and forgotten in their love.
