Work Text:

I’ve always adored my family.

My big sister. She was always a confident person who seemed unable to sit still. But she was understanding especially when it came to me. Whenever I got bullied at school, big sis would rush up to help me. Even if sometimes she lost, she still gave me a smile at the end, happy to know that I was all right.

My father. He was the best man in the world. Even though we lived far away from the city, thanks to him, we had the best life that we could ask for. But I hardly liked his quietness or when he got serious. It’s scary to see him so. But that might be the reason why he was so good at hunting. No prey had ever got it out alive to tell the story. However, I could. My father never missed a shot with his shotgun. While many fellow hunters of his always use a long-ranged firearm, my father didn’t.

My mother. She was the woman I wished to become once I grew up. She wasn’t exactly the best cook in the house, my father could be better. But she learned and did her best to raise my sister and me. Then slowly, her skills became even better than our father's. I always curious why was that my mother liked taking care of everyone. She simply replied that she’d loved to see smiles of happiness. She also liked making twin tails for my hair.

But one day, the Despair Dolls came.

Once a Dissonant Meteorite landed in our hometown, everyone was panicking as no one there could instruct a proper evacuation in such a chaotic moment. I heard that only the “Musicarts” of Symphonica can fight them. But at the time, it was rumored that they only had one and she was far from my rural town.

Then, as always, my father was quick enough to evacuate our entire family. I could see his pained expression of unable to save his friends in the town. But he put his family on top.

While my father was as quiet as usual, my mother and sister did their best to calm me down. And during that moment, I felt calm. No matter if behind me was the screeching sound of the Despair Dolls as the sun slowly went down the hills and the night came.

We managed to reach the train station where they were evacuating people. However, we were later than most other people due to living in a rural and far away town. The train at the moment could only hold two more people.

And of course, our parents told us to get in. I didn’t want that. But my sister grabbed me by the arm and pulled me, not even turning her head back. I cried out to my parents. But they only smiled at me while telling me to live on and well.

But why didn’t they understand that, without them, it’d be hard? I thought to myself as I and my sister sat near the window and looked out. The Despair Dolls sound was coming closer. And I’d only pray.

My sister however didn’t. She wasn’t flinching in the slightest while cheering me up with everything she had.

We reached a large city nearby where they said that the Musicart in the rumor would come and protect us even if it meant for a moment.

But once we arrived, chaos erupted. The Despair Dolls came even before that Musicart came. People were running everywhere while loud explosions rang out across the city. I hated it. Those people ran for their lives while trampling on others during the process. Then, because of that, I lost my sister.

She was pulled away in a crowd of people while telling me to hide, keeping myself safe and she’d be all right.

I was too scared to move as a Despair Doll was standing in front of me. It was huge and disgusting. For unknown reasons, they arrived and claimed away everything. Even my family. Just why? I’d asked myself as the giant, grotesque monster slowly approached me. Even if for only a single moment, I’d blast away its face, I’d be so happy. I’d laugh.

I could imagine my small body swinging around it, making fun of it for doing so many horrible things before blasting it down like my father would do in a hunt. But in reality, I couldn't.

I cried.

I cried while holding on to a cyan ribbon with white dots.

I stood there for god knew how long while waiting for the monster to devour me as I couldn’t move out of fear.

But it never could devour me.

Once I opened my eyes, the sun was already up and the monster just wasn’t there anymore. I then looked up to the sky where I saw a young lady in a white dress floating above me. She was the Musicart that people talked about.

I turned back to the sun once again. The orange color that the giant fiery ball emitted was beautiful. It signified that the night was over and a new day began.

In the end, I lost my sister too. She didn’t die because of the Despair Dolls. She died because of the people who were running in fear.

However, I didn’t blame them. I blamed the Despair Dolls. Because of them, people were so afraid that they didn’t mind hurting others.

Time then passed by, and Symphonica told me that I had the potential to fight the Despair Dolls and that I could become a Musicart. I once again looked at the rising sun in the distance from my hospital room. It was still as beautiful as ever and I wished people could admire the scenery like this with smiles on their faces.

I wished that dawn could arrive at any time when the night was devouring the people.

[Symphony Number One by Gustav Mahler, Titan]

Titan woke up and felt super refreshed. Titan liked Titan’s orange hair with a bit of red and blue. Even though Titan never saw a rising dawn, Titan still noticed the similarity of Titan’s hair with it. But it felt off. Titan didn’t like it when it was down. In Titan's hand was a blue ribbon with many white dots. Titan questioned why but the Conductors could never answer as they would always question it too. But Titan loved it. Titan soon asked for two more to tie into Titan’s twin tails that Titan thought would fit better.

It was quite a hassle to do it by oneself so Titan wished someone would kind enough to do it for Titan every time.

Soon, Titan was paired up with a Conductor. His name was Leonard or Lenny. Titan heard about him and admired him a lot. Though, he hardly smiled, which kinda make Titan feel bad.

“So don’t worry! I’ll always be smiling for you!” Titan said as she took his hand. “I promise!”
