"I'm pretty excited for tonight!" Yosano exclaimed as she organized some supplies she had.
"How come?" I asked, sitting at her desk. I was swinging my legs a little as I played with her stethoscope.
"There's going to be a meteor shower tonight! I haven't seen one in so long- we should have everyone watch!" She said, looking over at me, smiling.
"I guess that sounds fun..." I muttered as I set the stethoscope down. "I'm not due to be little today, so I can enjoy myself." I said as I hopped off her desk.
Yosano made me go tell everyone what we are doing tonight. Once I did what she asked, everyone had agreed to go. We all haven't spent time together outside of work in a while. I wonder if Chuuya is going to watch too. Since Chuuya has agreed to help the agency with me, we've hung out even when I'm not little. He isn't mad at me for leaving anymore- I find his company enjoyable sometimes. It works. I sighed as I rest my head on my desk. I was little yesterday, it actually wasn't too bad. Both Chuuya and Kunikida took care of me. We played, they fed me, it almost felt too good. Good things don't happen to me- so why is this happening? When is it going to be ruined like everything else? I like when I don't have to worry- I hate being little, but when I'm little I worry less.
Ugh, all this thinking isn't fun! I want to feel good again. I looked under my desk and saw Guppy. My new fish since Ranpo and Atsushi accidentally ripped my old one. Further proving my point that the good is always ruined. I bite my bottom lip as I grabbed guppy. I held him close as I rest my head on my desk once more. Guppy feels good, so maybe it'll make me feel good too. I hear a distant voice but I can't tell what they're saying. I just shut my eyes and tried to relax.
When I opened them again, I wasn't at my desk. I was in my playpen? I frowned as I looked around. My head felt really fuzzy, I haven't felt this small- ever. I can't even worry even if I wanted to. Everything just feels- floaty. I opened my mouth to try and speak, but nothing came out. Where was everyone? I slowly sit up, I wobbled a little as I tried to stay up. I still didn't see anyone. Wait! Chuu!? He's in the corner of the office, reading. He finally looks up, and sees I'm awake. He smiles, setting his book down and walking over.
"How ya feeling, baby?" He asked softly, brushing some hair out of my face.
I just stared, I couldn't really think- I just- I want up! I raised my arms up, and did grabby hands. Chuuya quickly understood and picked me up just like I wanted. He even grabs guppy and hands him to me. I hummed as I rest my head against Chuuya and cuddled with guppy. I slipped his fin into my mouth to suck on it, but Chuu quickly put an end to that. He grabs a pacifier and replaces the fin with it. I didn't argue, I just relaxed and enjoyed his warmth.
"Wow- you're really feeling little today." He said softly as he started walking. He kept walking until we were outside. Once outside, he walked to the park nearby. What are we doing?
So that's where everyone was! They were all sitting on a blanket waiting for- what was it again? Umm... something to do with the sky.
When Chuuya came over, everyone looked. Kunikida gets up and quickly walks towards us. "Look who's finally awake." He said with a smile as he ruffled my hair.
I hear Yosano laugh then motioned us to come over. "Come on! It's about to start." She shouted, so we all sat down on the blanket.
I sat on Kunikida's lap for now, since he wanted to hold me. Guess he was going to watch me- but Chuuya offered so he could spend time with his friends. I feel a little better knowing I'm also not the only one feeling little. I watched as Atsushi and Ranpo ran around. Everything seems fine- it felt nice. That's what I wanted. I smiled, hiding my face against guppy. It almost felt strangely like- a family? Yosano was calling the other two Littles over for some food, Fukuzawa held Ranpo while he ate, Kenji was talking with Atsushi, Kyōka was helping Naomi and Jun'ichirō hand out food. Chuuya looked a little uncomfortable at first- but when he looked over at me he smiled and relaxed.
My eyes widened when I saw cupcakes. I gasped, making the pacifier fall out of my mouth. Luckily Kunikida caught it before it hit the ground. I pointed at the cakes, looking up at Kunikida. I was hoping he'd let me have some.
"You can't eat cake, it'll hurt your tummy." He points out, as he tries to put the pacifier back in my mouth.
I was going to whine, to show I was upset- but then Chuuya stepped in. "Hey, while we wait for the meteor shower. I'm going to take him over to the swings." He said as he stands then picks me up.
"Alright, I'll have a bottle ready when he gets hungry." Kunikida said before going back to paying attention to everyone else. He usually helped with the other Littles.
Chuuya carries me away, I whined reaching back. I wanted cake! Chuuya shushes me softly as he lightly bounces me. Once we reached the swings, he placed me in the baby swing meant for Littles. I pouted, looking away. Chuuya chuckles then reached into his jacket and pulled out a large bundle of napkins.
"Yosano passed it to me, gave me a little wink. So thank her later too." He said softly before unwrapping the napkins and showing me a cupcake. Some frosting had come off but for the most part it was fine.
I smiled and laughed, kicking my legs excitedly. Chuuya chuckles once again. He then slips his gloves off so he can feed me. I hummed happily when he gave me a piece. He fed me a little more- until maybe a fourth of the cupcake was gone.
"Alright, you got some. But Kunikida is right. You could get a tummy ache. So no more for now." Chuuya explained as he wraps the cupcake back up. I pouted, but he was right.
Once that was settled, Chuuya actually started pushing me on the swing. I giggled as I went high- well... as high as Chuuya was comfortable with. He pushed me for a little bit, until we were called over. He helps me out of the swing and carries me back to the group. We sit down, I'm on his lap while he's next to Yosano. She points up and grins.
"Look up at the sky!" She exclaimed, making everyone else look up too.
I gasped when I saw the sky, it was dark- but in the darkness, you could see lights flying by. I squealed happily as I kicked my feet. I looked over at Kunikida and pointed at the sky too. He smiled at me, then motioned me to keep watching. So we did. We watched until the very end. I was cuddled up with Kuni and Chuu. I was in between them now instead of on Chuuya's lap. Kunikida had put his jacket on me, since it was getting cold. He had told everyone to dress for the cold weather- no one but him listened. I was in warm clothes, but not warm enough for the late night. Once the shower was over, Kunikida picked me up.
"Alright, it's late. Little ones need sleep." He said softly, as he held me close.
"But- no..." I whined, I let my head fall against his chest, my forehead hitting him kind of hard.
I hear him grunt, then sighed. "Zai, everyone is going to sleep soon. You'll be cranky if you stay up." He tried to reason with me.
"I- bed- but I want... Chuu- you!" I tried to say I'd go to bed but I wanted you and Chuuya with me. But... that's not how it came out. Stupid baby brain!
"I know, you sleep at Chuuya's place. Let's go." He said as he walked over to the red head.
"No! Th't not!" I whined, yanking on his shirt. It was going so well too! I wasn't crying and everyone was having fun!
"Chuuya, here. He's a little cranky. Probably from being up so late." Kunikida said, as he hands me over to Chuuya.
My bottom lip trembled as I choked out a sob. He ruffled my hair and kissed the top of my head before saying goodnight. I watched as he walked off, I cried and hide my face against Chuuya's chest. I hear Chuuya tell everyone he's heading out, so he can put me to bed. They say goodbye, while they clean up. As Chuuya starts walking, I rest my chin on his shoulder and watched them all. I hiccuped as a few soft sobs came out.
"What's got my baby so upset?" Chuuya cooed, as he shifts me in his arms so he could look at me.
"K-Kuni!" I cried, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hands.
"He doesn't have your crib set up baby... you can't sleep with him tonight." Chuuya tried to explain, but that isn’t what I meant! I grabbed guppy from under Chuuya's right arm and hit him with it a few times. I was getting frustrated. I wish I could just say what I want! Chuu grabbed guppy so I'd stop hitting him. "We don't hit, Minnow." Chuuya lightly scolded.
"Nooo! Chuu! Kuni!" I cried out, kicking my feet in frustration.
I watched as Chuuya thought for a moment, trying to figure out what I'm saying. Then I watched him look back at the group and called out for Kunikida. He came walking over instantly.
"Is he alright? He seemed fine when I had him- does he have a fever? Is he hurt!? I can go-" Chuuya cuts off the panicked blonde before he could run off to get help.
"He's fine, seems he just wants us both tonight." Chuuya explained, which made me happy he finally got it!
"I see..." Kunikida muttered as he wiped a few tears from my face.
"My place is bigger, plus has his room set up. So- you can come with us if you want." Chuuya offered, as I cuddled up with guppy in his arms.
"Alright, everything is all cleaned up, I was about to head home anyways. I'll ride with you two." Kunikida said as he walked with Chuuya.
"He was really little today, seems he almost fully regressed. I've never seen him this relaxed before." Chuuya admits as he opens the car door and helps me into my car seat. Once I was buckled up, he shuts the door. He and Kunikida get in the front and continued their conversation. "Maybe he's finally enjoying himself, and accepts he's a little?"
"That'd be surprising. He's fought us this whole time. What changed?" Kunikida asked, as he glanced at Chuuya.
"I don't know... I guess we just let him enjoy this while he allows it." Chuuya said, as he starts the car and drives.
The car ride was starting to put me to sleep. I yawned, then nuzzled Guppy. I hummed as I put his fin in my mouth to suck on while I try to sleep. I hear muffled voices, but I was too tired to figure out what they're saying. Eventually everything went dark. I didn't open my eyes until I felt I was being carried. They stayed open a few seconds to see Kunikida carrying me. I fell back asleep, waking up again when I'm placed in bed. I see Chuuya and Kunikida this time. I reached for them, I didn't talk because I was sucking on a pacifier they must have slipped into my mouth. Chuuya smiles as he holds my hand, stroking it with his thumb. Kunikida pet my head and whispers for me to go back to sleep. I let out a few small noises of protest, but it didn't last long. I found myself falling asleep for the last time tonight.
All Chuuya and Kunikida could hear now was the sound of Dazai sucking his pacifier and his soft breathing. They both kiss the baby's forehead and whispered goodnight before leaving the room.
