This was it, this was the end. White Spy looked around the dingy alley, but there was nothing left to save him. No sewers or secret doors or hidden bombs. Nothing but him, the briefcase beside him, and Black Spy slowly creeping closer and closer, a gun in hand pointed directly at White Spy.
White Spy prayed in his mind, practically shouting out to whatever gods were out there to not let him lose, not this round. Hell, he’d rather lose one hundred more rounds to the Black Spy than lose this one. Not that that was an invitation for such a situation to happen, please, White Spy tacked that thought on the end of the prayer.
The point was, he had information in that briefcase that really would certainly change things for the worse if Black Spy got his grubby little hands on it.
Speaking of, the other spy was closing in now, the little revolver that he held practically touching White Spy’s chest. Black Spy chittered, knowing that he had won.
“End of the line, old friend,” Black Spy said. “No more tricks or schemes today!” He chittered again.
Black Spy was right. No more schemes, tricks, ploys, and plots. Not today. White Spy was done, he gave up. There was nothing he could possibly do.
And then the gods answered his prayers. It was simply really, something that White Spy had certainly considered in the past, not that he would ever admit that.
White Spy groaned internally. He really did not want to do this. But, alas, the only other choice resulted in death, humiliation, and another point to Black Spy, all things White Spy really could live without.
“Any last words?” Black Spy joked. White Spy glared at him. Black Spy’s jokes were always terrible. “See you tomorrow, old friend.”
Now was the time to act. White Spy threw away any dignity he had left in order to win this. He reached his hands out as quickly as he could, grabbed Black Spy by the lapels of his jacket, and pulled the other spy into a kiss.
The kiss lasted a bit longer than it probably should have, then White Spy was off down the alley, briefcase in hand, leaving behind a dazed Black Spy, who may or may not have had a few hearts floating around his head.
