Seeking 13 (A Boys of Tommen)

Summary:

MOLLY

When I got the opportunity to participate in an exchange program to Tommen College in Ireland I jumped at the chance to get away from my life in Canada for awhile. Then I go and meet a boy who get's me, but wherever I go a storm cloud seems to follow.

JOHNNY

Rugby has been my life since I can remember girls come and go but rugby is forever...that is until I meet the new girl. She's got ambitions of her own, isn't clingy and wants both of us to reach the goals we've set for ourselves. What could possibly go wrong?

Chapter 1: THIS AFTERNOON

Chapter Text

MOLLY'S P.O.V

September 09 2004

My mouth tastes of copper as blood runs down the back of my throat every time I swallow, one eye is swollen shut, my body in so much pain. My scalp burns from where I'm pretty sure I'm missing a chunk of hair, when I finally think I'm about to fade out...

Shooting up in bed gasping for air my body is covered in sweat I pull my knees into my chest trying to calm myself down. It takes a few minutes before my heart rate finally calms down enough to think straight. Looking over my shoulder at my alarm clock the glowing red numbers read 5:35 AM letting out a sigh I get out of bed deciding it's better to get a shower in now before everyone else uses up all of the hot water.

Grabbing a towel from my closet I head into my ensuite, turn on the water to let it heat up before stripping down. The air is cool on my body before I step in letting the hot water relax my aching muscles all I can think it that coming here was suppose to be different...I guess that was a foolish thing to believe.

*TWO HOURS LATER*

The four of us walk into Tommen College on our first day listening to Sybil complain about how I dare not to match her shoe choice.

"I still can't believe you wore your Docs on our first day" Her heals click against the tiled flooring

"Bennett is wearing his and you said he looks hot" We each stick a foot from either side of her showing off our matching shoes she just pouts at me

"Fine we can match tomorrow" Letting out a sigh we stop for a second to make a game plan for lunch

We agree to meet up in the fifth year lounge before Sibby blows me a kiss over her shoulder as we walk in seperate directions. Before we started the vice principal was nice enough to give us a tour of this very large school to help us get orientated. Hendrix has us laughing it's hard to breath as we push our way into the English class our smiles drop when we realize how quiet everyone else is.

"Tough crowd" Hendrix mumbles rubbing the back of his head

"Welcome the three of you sit where ever there's a free seat" The teacher says from behind her corner desk

The desks aren't singular there more like tables where everyone is sitting in pairs, there's one table completely empty so of coarse Bennett and Hendrix take that one. Scanning the class I find the only other available seat in the back next to a brown haired, blue eye'd guy who looks he's struggling to fit under the desk and would rather not be here at all. Walking down the aisle I can feel everyones eyes on me well the guys I think are mostly looking at my ass.

When I'm finally seated I take a notebook and pen from my bag I lean back in my chair and cross my legs. Right over left because my left thy contains the most scars and this skirt rides up just enough. The teacher introduces herself before making the three of us stand up to give a brief introduction, of coarse the boys say something stupid. When it's my turn my mind goes blank, it's like anything I've ever accomplished seems silly.

"My name's Molly I'm 16 and um..."

When I'm on the ice in front of a crowd of thousands it doesn't bother me because there are other people out there with me.Being singled out in front of a class of 20 with all eyes on me is s completely different story.

"She's the most badass female hockey player you'll ever get the chance of watching she won gold playing in the world juniors even scored the winning goal" Bennett chimes in I can feel my cheeks burning

Sinking back down I give him the finger behind the big guys back out of the view of the teacher, the teacher congratulates me. I'm just glad he didn't mention that I'm months away from finding out if I'll be playing in the Olympics. About half way through the class Mrs. Walsh hands out a small in class writing assignment where we need to ask our table partner three questions off the list. Then write it as a news paper article.

"So before we start this do I get to know your name?" Turning myself slightly to face him, I watch as his eyes quickly look over my body then my face

"Uh ya sorry it's Johnny...Kavanagh" He gives me a small smile his accent a tad different then the others

"So do you play any sports Johnny Kavanagh?"

"Maybe why do you ask?" He meets my eyes

"An athlete can always pick out another athlete" We don't break eye contact

"Ok but you have to guess" He smirks at me again like I won't be able to guess

"Your to big for all of the main sports I can think of, you don't seem douchy enough for hockey maybe hurling...no that doesn't feel right...so that leaves me with rugby" He breaks eye contact first and I know I'm right I'd like to say I'm immune to the charm of an athlete but there's just something about this boy that intrigues me.

Off of the list he asks me the following: the thing I love the most about the sport of my choice (which is hockey of coarse). My favourite band which is between KISS or Guns N' Roses but somehow ends with him bashing Nickleback, how dare he! Final one is favourite type of exercise which you think would be offensive but it works between two athletes. On the flip side I ask him: a skill he's always wanted to learn, favourite cheat meal (a burger and curry chip), and if he sings in the shower which I'm surprised to find is a yes.

*LUNCH TIME*

"Who's the cute guy looking at you?" Sibby asks I follow where she looking I catch Johnny looking my way he smirks looking away when I meet his eye

"Oh you mean her admirer he sits next to her in every class now" Hendrix says

Over the years Hendrix and I have tried to make it work but one of us was either dating someone, getting over a relationship or not looking for anything. Long story short one of us was just never in the right spot.

"Would you leave it alo-" Before I can finish my sentence a bubbly blond and a less happy one appeared at the table

"Claire, Lizzie hey how's it going?" Sybil smiles at the girls

"Can we join you?" The curly blond headed one asks, Sibby looks at us we all just shrug at her

She introduces us to the the two girls and I can already tell Claire is cute but Lizzie is going to be a royal pain in the ass. During the very short lunch we learn all the gossip from the girls. Also that Claire plays hockey to so it'll be nice to atleast know someone before our first practice. What I also notice is that every time I glance over at where Johnny is sitting with his friends he's already looking at me.

*END OF DAY*

Just as Sybil and I are walking out of the school I hear my name being called when I glance over my shoulder Johnny lifts arm. Slowing down I wave her off to go ahead to the car with ought men. When he reaches me he's wearing his rugby jersey, which does wonders.

"This maybe a little forward but could I get your number" He says rubbing the back of his neck

Pulling my blackberry from my jumper I hand it over noticing how small it looks in his hands, he puts in his number then from what it looks like sends himself a message so he can have my number. Handing my back my phone he jogs back down the hall, I clock his number 13. As I walk to our car I check what he sent himself, which makes my jaw drop.

MR. RUGBY

ME: "You're right Nickleback sucks"
