Work Text:

Scorpius considers himself the luckiest bloke alive when it comes to Albus. He was in love wirh his bestfriend, what more could he ask for? Albus is amazing. He is incredibly talented an up and coming Cursebreaker. He cooks, he cleans, he's well read, and he is always there for Scorpius when he has a bad day. Lately he has had a lot of those. Being a Healer was not easy and his coworkers didn't make it any easier.

What exactly is Albus getting out of this relationship? Scorpius can't cook, he used to clean, but he hardly finds energy to do that these days. He can't remember the last time he had wanted to have sex. He can't imagine he's very good company right now. He wouldn't blame Albus if he just dropped him. But Scorpius didn't want that to happen, he had to step up and be a good partner again. Albus deserved that.

So Scorpius resolved to suck it up, push his feelings aside and be better. He was going to be happy, he had no reason not to be. Work was fine, his day was fine. The flat was spotless. He told Albus he was interested in helping out with cooking so today he was trying his hand at that. Scorpius was starting simple with bangers and mash and it seemed to be going well.

"Hey!" Albus greeted cheerfully. "It smells great!"

Albus wrapped his arms around him from behind him, Scorpius turned his head so he could kiss him.

"How was your day?" Scorpius asked.

"It was pretty good. Long. How about yours?" Albus asked as he unwound his arms from Scorpius.

Scorpius spent his lunch crying in the closet. "It was fine."

"That's good to hear. Glad things are turning up."

Scorpius wasn't used to lying to Albus, they didn't have any secrets from eachother. This was for his own good, for their relationship. "Dinner's ready." He announced, the table had already been set.

They sat down to eat. Albus went on to talk about the rest of his day while Scorpius forced himself to get in the mood for sex.

"Are you sure you're all right?" Albus asked.

Scorpius forced a smile. "Yes. I'm just a little tired."

For the first time in awhile they had sex. Scorpius felt empty, something was wrong with him. Why couldn't he be normal?

It was day two of cooking and he decided on making bubble and squeak. It wasn't going as well this time. The egg wasn't coming out right. Scorpius sighed. At least it looked edible. He was so tired, his body felt heavy. He closed his eyes for a moment before he knew it he fell to floor with a thud.

When he came to, he was lying on the sofa. Albus hovering over him. "Thank Merlin, you're awake. What happened?"

"I was making dinner, I closed my eyes for a moment. Thar's what I remember."

"Scor, please tell me what's going on with you? I thought you'd been acting off. This just confirms it."

"I was trying to be worthy of you."

Albus looked at him quizically, "What do you mean?"

"You're always there for me, but what have you been getting out of this relarionship?"

"I... really don't know what you mean? I love you." Albus sat down next to him.

"I know I haven't been the best person to be around lately. I've been deadweight."

"Don't say that about yourself. Everybody's off sometimes."

"But it's not been just sometimes. It's been months!" Scorpius' voice broke, quivering.

"Scorpius. My whole childhood I felt like I didn't belong, I felt different. I felt like no one really saw me. Then I met you and for the first time I felt... seen. I was seen for who I acfually am. And that... is everything to me."

Scorpius broke into tears at that and Albus immediately took him into his arms. "I'm broken."

"No, you're not. I'm no Mind Healer, but it sounds to me you have depression, that can be managed."

"I just wanted to be better."" Scorpius said.

"You can't get better by ignoring it, Scor. There is help available if you need it." Albus stated. "But I'm not going anywhere."

"Not sure I'm ready to talk to someone else." Scorpius said.

"That's all right." Albus stated. "But know you're not alone."

Scorpius was extroardinarily lucky.
