Work Text:
Winter was not Logan's friend. The freezing cold made his old metal bones ache, and the frosty air caused his lungs to burn when he spent too long outside. He enjoyed the time with Laura—they built a snowman with a carrot nose and coal eyes, but after playing outside for a while, Logan shivered, his cheeks pink while his nose was as red as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
They hurry inside as it continues to snow, and Laura retreats to the shower while Wade is already there with a fuzzy blanket and says, “Baby, come on, let's get you warm.”
He makes quick work of starting a cozy fire while Logan dresses in the warmest hoodie and sweats he has. Logan checks on Laura before he settles in for the night—she is already snuggled up in bed sleeping after enjoying a hot shower, so Logan kisses her forehead and wraps another blanket around her to keep his daughter warm before he joins Wade on the couch beside the fire.
The snow is still falling outside when Wade wraps a blanket around Logan and then snuggles him in a hug. Logan grins as he feels the heat slowly seeping into his bones and easing the sore ache. He kisses Wade as Wade gently rubs a hand up and down his spine, his fingers feather-light and soft and gentle.
Logan's chilly skin tingles, the cold slowly chased away by his boyfriend, the fuzzy blanket, and the crackling fire. Kissed gently and hugged fondly as if he will never be let go, Logan feels like he stepped into heaven. “I love you, Wade. Every day is a blessing with you.”
“Damn straight it is!” Wade beams with a big and cocky grin. He is such a sweet and kind lovey-dovey romantic type of guy, although you wouldn’t know it. But Logan sees the softer side of the Merc, and with every kiss he presses to his lips, he earns a brightly happy smile from Wade.
Snuggled up beside the warm crackling fireplace, Logan gives Wade a soft kiss before he takes a sip of his hot chocolate with whipped cream. The chocolate is soothing warmth and seeps into his delighted soul, a smile twinkling on his face as he sweetly kisses Wade again.
When Logan finishes his cup of hot chocolate, he lies down with Wade, and his body melts into Wade's hug. He sinks into the bed, snuggled up in Wade's arms, nuzzling his chest, hugging him even tighter—it feels so good, heavenly. Wade kisses him goodnight, wrapping his arms around Logan, and soon Logan begins purring, a deep, happy, blissful rumble from his chest that is a harmonizing lullaby for Wade.
Wade kisses his forehead and holds him gently until Logan falls asleep in his arms, dreaming sweet dreams in the silences of the quiet room. Soon they are both fast asleep, dreaming of happily ever after.
But later that night, the frosty cold was bothersome to Logan once again.
Even with the apartment warm and an endless number of blankets tossed on the bed, the frost seems to seep into Logan and chill him, making his metal bones hurt. He wakes up a little after midnight, shivering so hard his teeth chatter like a chipmunk. With the unbearably cold, it’s impossible to sleep even with the heater and blankets.
He has never done well with the cold—he prefers the scorching heat of summer.
The frost seems to only affect him—Mary is cuddled up in her dog bed, snoring loudly. Wade is beside him, not a care in the world, dreaming peacefully with his face in the puffy pillow. With winter in full frozen frost, Logan cannot sleep. Even with the mound of blankets on the bed, he shivers, and his toes are numb, and he wakes Wade with his wiggling around like an excited puppy to find a warm spot.
A light poke in the ribs and a grumble from his boyfriend, “Stop moving, peanut,” was his punishment.
Logan growls under his breath, his bones aching, and he’s exhausted. However, before he can curse, Wade is up and off the bed, grabbing the weighted heating blanket and plugging it in, then wrapping it around Logan and crawling into bed next to him. He wraps an arm around Logan’s waist and cuddles close to him, asking, “Is that better?”
Surprisingly, the extra weight of the downy blanket and the soothing warmth, along with Wade hugging him and sharing body heat, gentled Logan instantly. He is comfortable and cozy, snuggled up with Wade, and he can feel the frost melt away.
A deep purring rumble flows from his chest as he closes his eyes and his body melts into the bed, his breathing becoming slow and even as he hugs Wade. Wade presses a feather-soft, sweet kiss to Logan’s lips, giving his sweetheart a loving kiss, and Logan's tummy flutters with butterflies as a soft smile dances on his lips.
It is no secret that Wade is lovey-dovey, head over heels, devotedly, and hopelessly in love with Logan. Most days he walks around with heart eyes, gazing longingly at the big, strong Wolvie. The only thing that matters to him is that he is safe and warm and snuggled up beside Wade.
While he is sure Logan feels the same way he does, even if he doesn’t outright show it the way Wade does, Logan wiggles his toes, feeling the frost melt away as he snuggles up close to Wade. With the gentle, steady beat of Wade’s breathing and being wrapped up in a gentle hug, Logan felt utterly content.
“Mmmm, perfect,” Logan growls, rumbling happily as he snuggles up as close to Wade as he can get.
Wade kisses him gently and keeps pressing soft kisses to his lips, so gentle with him, each kiss slow and lingering, devotedly loving. He laces their fingers together and brushes his lips across Logan's. They kiss for a long time, nothing too heated, only little soft pecks shared between grins and soft giggles, until Logan began to feel warm and cozy and sleepy. As they cuddle, Wade looks at Logan fondly, his gentle hand soothing up and down his back as he snuggles up close to Logan.
Logan leans against him with his arm around Wade, perfectly content to spend hours cuddled up together. All is silent and still, and his heart is peaceful. Logan closes his eyes as his body melts into the soothing warmth of Wade’s hug. He is snugly soft and cozy warm. To his delight, Wade gives him a soft squeeze and hugs him, and even though he cannot see Wade in the darkness of the room, he hears the fond affection in his voice when he whispers, “Sweet dreams, Wolvie.”
Wade presses a kiss to Logan’s forehead, and soon Logan is fast asleep, dreaming peacefully and held by his sweetheart boyfriend. Logan is purring in his sleep, grumbling blissfully as he snoozes, and the sound is soothing to Wade.
Wade spoons around his boyfriend and snuggles Logan with a gentle hug, and soon he too is dreaming sweet dreams on this winter night.
