I'm still not sorry about any emotional damage from the past prompts, though this one isn't anywhere near as bad.

Work Text:

As Vil handed out the free tickets for the Song and Dance Competition to the NRC Tribe, he wondered who they would give them to.

Rook's would likely go to his family. He had to suppress a grimace at the thought of them- they were plenty nice, but he could understand how someone as eccentric as Rook came from them.

Epel's to his as well. He had mentioned that he had a large extended family, despite being an only child. Rural towns like Harveston had a tradition of having the entire family under one roof.

Kalim's family likely wouldn't need any, considering the size of the Asim fortune. Crowley was likely to send tickets to them regardless, considering the funds that they provided the school. Not to mention how they had rented out whole theaters for the livestream.

Jamil had barely mentioned his family. A few bits of information about his sister here and there, but nothing about his parents. Still, the younger teen had mentioned that his sister would be visiting for the cultural fair.

Ace had mentioned his brother many dozens of times. From what Vil had researched, Ace's older brother had been in the SDC in his year too, although the event had been quite a lot smaller back then. He had no doubt that the tickets would go to him.

Deuce spoke about his mother a lot. A single mother, Vil had surmised, raising her son alone. He was ecstatic to receive the tickets and be able to treat his mother with something nice for once.

Now Yuu...

Yuu was a mystery to everyone.

They had appeared mysteriously at the Opening Ceremony, with not a single ounce of magic to their name- which was almost unheard of in it of itself, Fae blood had traveled far through most bloodlines, leaving traces of magic, albeit unusable by most of the population- and a strange inability to get back to where they came from.

Crowley had "graciously"- mind the quotation marks- given them Ramshackle to stay in as a janitor, or so he had heard. Grim had appeared at the Opening Ceremony himself, a nuisance that none of them had wanted to get rid of themselves.

NRC students didn't do things without gain.

Well, aside from Kalim and Silver, but Kalim had been on fire soon after the direbeast had arrived and Silver wasn't there, so they didn't count.

And maybe Rook, but he was more focused on observing and hunting the things that truly fascinated him and also wasn't there at the ceremony.

By the next day, Yuu and Grim were enrolled as a joint student, Grim doing most of the magical work and Yuu taking the academics, though Grim was given his share of the other as well.

From then on, the Ramshackle Prefect ran around through the school, solving problems and doing Crowley's work to stay in the school, given that they hadn't paid any tuition and were struggling for money.

If Yuu wasn't capable of going home, who would they give their tickets to?

Vil didn't know, and honestly, it wasn't his place to pry.

If he really wanted to know, then he could ask Rook to look into it for him- or even try making a deal with Azul, but he wasn't going to risk that- but he wasn't that curious.

Besides, sending Rook was just asking for a lawsuit and restraining order to be put in place.

For Vil himself, he was going to be giving his ticket to his father.

Eric Venue, as his fans knew him, or Vance Schoenheit, to Vil.

He didn't know if his father could make it, but he certainly hoped that he could.

He very rarely got to see his father anymore, what with their busy and conflicting schedules, and seeing him always helped drive away his intrusive thoughts.

Sevens, he needed to pull himself together.

"Enough chit-chat!" he snapped. "Time to rehearse!"

"Yes, sir!" The entire group yelped.

Yuu scrambled over to the speakers, and Vil let the thought of tickets fade from his mind as they fell into the familiar routine.

Quick Reminder: I will be taking a month-long hiatus on all of my works and series for the length of November to participate in NaNoWriMo, but I will be back in December, hopefully with some new chapters and fics for the stuff I've left alone for a while.
