Work Text:
Being a greaser wasn’t necessarily easy. You had to deal with constant bullying from all the Socs, and most of the time greasers didn’t come from really good families. You see, if you didn’t know already, greasers are low class people. Some might even emphasize it as poor. But in fact, you could be poor, sure. But even if you were poor in materialistic goods, you could still be rich in other ways- like family, or love. If you weren’t rich in either of those, you might’ve been my buddy Johnny. He doesn’t have a strong relationship with his family, in fact, his family is the worst. And that shit messes with your brain.
I found Johnny alone, by the curb. From a distance I didn’t think anything of it, but as I got closer I saw he was crying. “…Johnny, you ok man?” I asked, sitting down beside him. Johnny stayed silent for a moment, “…P-Pony? That you?” Johnny said, he still had his face buried in his knees, so it was a little hard to hear him. “Yeah. What’s wrong?…” I pause, my voice getting a little softer, “Another fight happen with your parents?” I grabbed his shoulder. “No, it’s not that…I- I just- I don’t know how to explain it. It’s not them fighting, it’s the…after-effects…I don’t know, man.” Johnny finally rose his face up and looked at me, his eyes were red and puffy. “…Explain?” I say. “It’s like…I’m thinking about- like- what if i was just fucking normal. What if they never fought, and my dad never beat me.” Johnny’s voice cracked.
”It’s…You-…You shouldn’t be-……” I completely paused, i never knew how to comfort people, so i just sat there thinking of something to say. “I-It’s okay, why don’t you just report your dad?”
Johnny paused. “I-I can’t…” I look at him, confused. “Why not?”
“Too scared.” Was the response.
“…sigh…You look like you need a hug…C’mere.” I said, opening my arms. Johnny inched closer, leaning against my shoulder as I wrapped my arms around him. He was still crying, I could tell. “It’s okay…” I said softly, rubbing his back. “Pony, d’you think maybe one day, we’ll run away together, far from this crappy town?” Johnny said, grinning a little. “Yeah, we’ll make a living on our own, and i wouldn’t have to worry about my brother, and you wouldn’t have to worry about your family either.” I smile, kissing his cheek.
(just pretend i wrote something here because I didn’t really wanna write the end and got lazy so I’ll probably not do it ever. but tell me if you want more of this type of stuff or not. P.S: i realized i could’ve wrote this in the note)
