It's not beta read, I still hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

No one on the ship called The Wicked Heart, wanted the creature around.

Travelling the seas like they did while spreading the influence of their one and only god was already difficult enough. At the behest of their captain and high priest they have already instilled fear into the hearts of non-believers with the total destruction of ships; merchants, navy, cruise lines, and many other kinds who now are deep below in the oceans while they reaped the rewards of their plundering.

A pirate crew devoted to the bloody god, Jashin as well as lead by their leader who was the most devout and bloodthirsty of them all. He was known for making the most sacrifices, of being blessed with abilities beyond the comprehension of mortal man. Yet when the crew attempted to address the situation with the creature it was always met with a short answer and a glare that could have set the sails on fire. The crew couldn't deny that the creature had it's uses; a merman of such size and strength has made it easier to take down the large ships they would target as well as keep enemies from sneaking up on them.

None of them trusted it though. After ever attack the creature gathered it's share-almost over fifty percent of the gold and valuables they were able to get-and then would sink down low beneath the waves. The longer they were made to work with the creature, the more tension that grows amongst the crew.

The only reason this creature has been tolerated so long was due to the Captain finding it useful if annoying. Until that usefulness was gone then the crew attempted to keep their mouths shut on the topic after a particularly violent outburst from their captain; the silver haired and crimson violet eyed man was not one to push too hard lest someone wished to be thrown down into the sea below with their limbs missing.

Hidan released a heavy sigh as he released a puff of smoke the floated up towards the starry night sky as they anchored their ship in a lagoon; a proper rest and some time to resupply as well as celebrate their latest raid while resting their sea legs. He's the only one on the ship currently; as it's been so very long since he stepped on to land. He couldn't remember the last time he wasn't out on the sea with the wind in his face and the taste of salt in the air.

Not since he was blessed to sail the seas and walk the earth until time finally came to an end.

This was probably his seventh crew after the last six ones died out. Their names were lost to him now but he wasn't about to dwell on that; all he can do is live in the now and continue the way of Jashin.

He gently played with his pendant in his hands before there's a soft popping noise from below. Hidan blinked before he leaned over and look down at the side of the ship with a raised brow to see the familiar tentacles that pull up the infamous creature up the side of his ship.

Normally he was much much larger, a colossal merman known as the Kraken as no one ever lived long enough or was brave enough to see him beneath the depths. However his magic allowed him to shift in size; hence he was now the size of a six foot man. His torso was covered in old scars from battles he's fought through his very long lived life. His hair was the color of coconut shells with his unusual colored eyes of crimson and sage. He made his way to the rail and looked down at Hidan with his half lidded gaze.

Scarred fingers gently tug on the pendant around the pirate priest's neck. His tentacles shimmer softly under the glow of the moon as the two were out of sight of the crew's suspicious gaze.

"You're in a mood tonight."

Hidan grunted, eyes narrowed before he tugged his pendant back so the merman wouldn't snatch it; like the first time they met. Oh he remembered that time fondly; jumping into the waters to hack into tentacles as the kraken merman was trying to loot and sink his ship. The rush of fighting this creature, the pain of performing his rituals on him, only to be thwarted by the fact he was immortal as well.

"it's been a long fucking day, Kakuzu," He put down the pipe before he turned and sat down on the railing as well, "I don't like being on land. Too steady."

"Is it now?" Kakuzu moved a little closer to him, "I suppose that shouldn't be surprised it is considering land can withstand so much of the ever changing patterns of the sea."

He turned his gaze to the merman, sitting there in his hakama pants and sandals while shirtless. As he looked around the area to make sure his crew wasn't coming back, he then felt a tentacle gently wrap around his waist the same time as a hand gently pushed his hair back.

"No one is around, Hidan, they're too drunk and enjoying the sand under their feet," Kakuzu rumbled as he rested his head on his, "..though I am half tempted to leave them here if they don't stop referring to me as an it."

Hidan growled low in his throat, "Assholes...You'd think with them being the seventh crew they'd be a little more mindful."

"There are somethings in this world that just won't change Hidan, even with your god keeping you alive," Kakuzu huffed, "If you can even call him a gone."

"What really gets me is it's been almost two hundred years and you still don't believe Jashin is watching out for me?" Hidan gritted out quietly, his eye twitching before his head is turned to face the merman; with his well toned human torso with dark tanned skin. There are small patches of dark grey scales over his sides where his second pair of gills are with the first being on his throat and his ears were pointed lightly with jewelry from past ships adorning the lobes.

"I believe...you are an immortal human who somehow managed to get cursed with immortality," Kakuzu rumbled, "however if you wish to continue believing a god has granted it to you, then that's your choice. What matters to me is that you are the first human who could survive me..." he pulled the pirate closer to him, "The first human to accept me despite not agreeing with my need to hoard the treasures of man...just as I accept you despite not believing in your god."

"..Hmph." Hidan's eyes soften a bit at that, "I still think hoarding all that treasure below isn't good for you. Sooner or later someone else will get to ir and then you have to start from scratch."

"And i believe you're a lunatic who uses Jashin as an excuse to kill people you don't like."

The two of them glare at each other a moment before Hidan snorted and a smile broke across his face, with Kakuzu following suit. It was just nice to be like this with his lover; away from the judgmental eyes of the crew and anyone else who would disapprove of their relationship.

Hidan held his face before he lovingly kissed over the scars on his cheeks as he sighed heavily. For just a moment he can pretend it was just the two of them; sailing the sea together and taking a short respite as the waves below brush against the boat. Just a pair of immortal creatures beyond understanding of men who wanted to just spend their eternities together.

As Hidan rested his head into the crook of Kakuzu's neck, the merman closed his eyes and allowed a rare gentleness to come over his face as he pulls Hidan closer to him.

So long as the two immortals of sea were together, the crew of The Wicked Heart would just have to deal with having the creature staying if they wanted to keep their heads.
