Summary
Three years had passed since Caroline had walked out of Klaus life, leaving New York, their engagement and the pieces of their fractured love behind. Now fate had brought her back to New York. Back to the city where they had once shared dreams, laughter and promises. And despite the years and miles, Klaus had never truly let her go.
Klaus approached her carefully. “Caroline… love…” he began, his voice gentle.
“No! Don’t ‘Caroline’ me!” she snapped, spinning around to face him with a pointed finger. Her eyes brimmed with anger and hurt. “Klaus, you have a girlfriend! And we did what we did last night…” Her voice broke, and she wiped at her eyes, trying to hold back the tears. “Ugh I knew you had a girlfriend, and I still… I don’t know what I was thinking.”
