It was a cold and chilly Halloween evening. Decorations were spread all across Red Grave City. The streets were filled with fake ghosts, carved pumpkins, and various animatronics. Children roamed the streets, dressed in all kinds of costumes. The Devil May Cry crew was no stranger to the occasion, and decided to throw a small party while giving out candy to Trick-or-Treaters.
The office interior was decked out with a variety of spooky-themed objects. Plastic spiders on the central desk, light-up pumpkins, fake cobwebs, among many others. While waiting for everyone else to show up, Lady, dressed as an angel, gave a small batch of candy to children who passed by. Nico, dressed as a devil, sat on the couch adjacent to the desk.
“Yeesh, can these slow-pokes hurry it up? I wanna start drinkin’ already.” Nico complained as the trick-or-treaters left. Lady placed the candy bowl back down, and attempted to fix her angel wings, which were nearly falling off.
“Hey, can you get these for me?” She begged, struggling to reach her back. Nico chuckled and went to help her. After fixing the wings, she gave Lady a surprise kiss on the cheek, causing her to blush.
A few minutes pass by, and a knock is heard on the front door. Nico goes to open it to be greeted by Lucia and Trish. She kindly welcomes them and lets them inside.
“Sorry we're late, we couldn't decide on what drinks to get, so we got this.” Trish smirked, placing a 6-pack of beer bottles on the desk. Nico's eyes lit up, as they were her favorite kind. She didn't even care how she knew which one to get, even though Lady tipped Trish about it months prior.
Trish was dressed in a basic witch costume with a broom on her back, while Lucia wore an outfit resembling a black cat, including plastic ears and makeup. Nico tried reaching for the box of alcohol, but Lady gently slapped her hand, since she wanted to wait for everyone else to arrive before drinking.
Trish and Lucia went to the back to grab fold-out chairs for everyone to sit in, along with a fold-out table. Lady helped set up some party games while Nico put on some Rob Zombie songs, which probably came from a burnt music CD.
After Lady finished setting everything up, she sat down on one of the chairs and looked at Trish. “So how have you been? Been a while since we got to chill out like this without a demon on our ass.”
“I've been doing pretty good, actually. Me and Lucia recently moved in together, so we've been setting up our new apartment.”
“You two really are inseparable, huh?”
“I could say the same about you and Nico. Not that I'm saying it's a bad thing, though, you guys are perfect for each other.”
“Thanks. You and Lucia as well.” Lady laughed, as her and Trish discussed many things that happened over the last year.
As Lucia handed out candy to Trick-or-Treaters passing by, Nero and Kyrie finally arrived. If they were in a best couple's costume contest, they would have easily won. Nero was dressed as Yu Narukami, and Kyrie as Rise Kujikawa, both from the video game “Persona 4”.
“Hope we're not late.” Nero spoke as he scratched his head.
“By the way, I made some brownies for you guys to eat after the party!” Kyrie said with a grin as she was carrying a plastic container. “I also brought some cooking ingredients, per Lady's request.”
Nico smiled with excitement, as she always enjoyed Kyrie's cooking. Lucia was also pretty excited, since she has never tried brownies before, nor anything Kyrie has made. While Kyrie was cooking, everyone else decided to pop open their drinks and catch up with each other while playing party games. Nero’s story specifically caught everyone's attention.
“So get this: I walk inside and there's absolutely no one there, not even the guy that called. The place was abandoned, so it was already creepy as hell. I turn around and BAM! The door shut on me.”
“This sounds way too dramatic, dude. You sure you didn't dream about it?” Nico giggled.
“Like hell I did! Anyway, I checked all of the rooms and not a single person or thing was in sight, not even a rat. I go back into the main hall and there's this weird dude standing there.”
“Seriously, this is starting to sound made up. Are you absolutely sure this happened?” Trish sighed, taking a sip of her alcohol.
“Hang on, I'm not finished yet! He had slicked-back blond hair, and cat-like eyes. I think they were orange.”
“Was he a demon!?” Lucia gasped.
“Yup. Dude moved so fast that I could barely keep up with him. Still managed to take him down, though, but damn he was good.” Nero groaned as he grabbed his shoulder, presumably due to an injury from the pitiful demon.
“Hey! I hope y'all are done yapping because the food's ready. Come make your plates!” Kyrie yelled from the kitchen. The aroma of lasagna and breadsticks filled the air as everyone got up to get their food. Everyone ate and discussed a plethora of different things, all while having a good time.
Once they were finished, everyone said their goodbyes and went home, while Lady and Nico stayed a while longer to clean up. After they were done, they too decided to go back. They agreed to stay over at Nico's place, as they wanted to spend some alone time together before the night was over.
Nico unlocked the door to her home and let Lady inside. She grabbed a glass of water for her and went to get changed. Both of them finished changing, and decided to end the night with a horror movie.
Despite her tough-girl appearance, Nico kept covering her eyes during the most scary moments, sometimes even holding Lady out of pure fear. After the movie had ended, Lady agreed to stay over and cuddle Nico, since she kept nearly jumping out of her skin.
