Work Text:

It was early in the morning. In a darkly lit bedroom, Lucia laid on her bed, her blanket covering her up to her chest as she slowly opened her eyes. She noticed Trish was nowhere to be seen, but assumed she was in the kitchen making breakfast.

Today is their first Christmas together. Lucia was a bit worried, but was also excited at the same time. She never celebrated Christmas with anyone outside of her village before.

Lucia tossed the blanket to the side and stood up off the bed. She walked up to the blinds and opened them to a snowy view of Red Grave. She smiled and went into the bathroom to get ready for the day.

Once she was finished, she stepped into the living room and glanced at the kitchen to see that her assumption was indeed correct, Trish had just finished making breakfast for the two of them.

“Morning, dear! You got up just in time.” She gave Lucia a kiss on the cheek and placed down two plates on the table, each containing eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. A gallon of orange juice and two empty cups were also laid out on the table.

“Now, before we eat, I have something for you.” Trish smiled and ran to grab something in her closet. When she returned, she handed Lucia a small black box. Lucia opened it to see a silver necklace with a heart-shaped jewel in the middle. She couldn't help but smile with joy. Trish took the necklace out of the box and put it on her.

“Merry Christmas, sweetheart. Do you like it?” She asked, leaning towards Lucia and caressing her left cheek.

“I love it. Thank you.” Lucia grinned and pulled in closer to kiss her. She never gets tired of feeling her soft lips pressing against Trish’s. Trish hesitantly broke the kiss, looking into Lucia’s beautiful eyes. “We can shower each other with kisses later, your food’s gonna get cold.”

Lucia chuckled as she sat down. She too had a gift prepared for her partner, but decided to show it to her after they ate.

“So,” Lucia said as she bit into her hashbrowns. “did anyone else say anything about what they were doing for the holidays?”

“Well, Lady and Nico went to a winter cabin, and Nero is taking Kyrie to a festival out of town. So today is just us.” She answered, pouring orange juice into her cup. “Although, everyone did agree to have a couples party on New Years, so there’s at least that to look forward to.”

Lucia looked a bit disappointed, as she had a stellar time at the Halloween party. Although she was now looking forward to New Years. Once they had finished eating their breakfast and putting the dishes away, Lucia eagerly grabbed Trish's hand and guided her to the bedroom.

She opened her own closet and pulled out a paper gift bag. She handed it to Trish with a light smile. Trish opened the bag to reveal a handmade bracelet that had the initials ‘T+L’ written on it. Alongside it was a small piece of paper that read:

‘To the most amazing and beautiful woman I have ever met. You make my world brighter everyday. I love you!
-Lucia’.

A single tear went down Trish's face as she put the bracelet on her right wrist. “Are you okay, dear?” Lucia gasped thinking she might have done something wrong.

“Yeah, I'm fine. It's just…” Trish quavered, wiping her face with her left hand. “Thank you, Lucia.” She hugged her tightly, and showed no sign of letting go. Lucia's fears were resolved, and she embraced the hug, holding Trish for as long as she needed to.

“I love you too…” Mumbled Trish, overwhelmed by her emotions and staining Lucia's shirt with her tears. “I'm sorry, I shouldn't be so emotional over this…”

Lucia loosened her hug to look at Trish in the eyes, which gleamed from her tears. “Don't apologize, mon amour. It's okay.” Lucia wiped Trish's tears with her thumbs and softly kissed her on the forehead. “Would you like to sit on the couch for a while?”

“Yeah, that'd be great.” Trish got a hold of herself and followed Lucia to the living room couch. They sat down, her head on Lucia's shoulder, as she grabbed the remote to put on a Christmas movie.

Lucia begged her to watch ‘Die Hard’, insisting that it is a Christmas film. Not only that, but she had never seen the movie before. Trish laughed and put on the film. Once it was over, they decided to bake Christmas-themed cookies together using different cookie-cutters they had bought the other day. After a long and joyful day, they ended the night by cuddling in bed.

“So, how was your first Christmas here?” Trish asked Lucia as she readjusted herself in the bed.

“It was really good, even if we couldn't get everyone together.” Lucia responded with a light grin. “I had a lot of fun today. I appreciate everything you did for me, even if I don't deserve it.”

“Oh, hush, you!” Trish hissed jokingly. “You deserve everything, especially after you gave me that bracelet.” She looked at Lucia's face, which was still smiling. She sighed and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips. “We really should get some rest. It's been a long day.”

Lucia yawned, confirming Trish's statement. They held each other tighter and they dozed off. “Goodnight, my love.” Trish whispered as she fully closed her eyes. “Goodnight…” Mumbled Lucia, as she too fell asleep, thinking of how she was the luckiest girl in the world.
