Chapter Text
It was that time of year where the boys needed to start planning what they wanted to do for their Halloween video. They started early this year, wanting to plan something good in advance and still have time to edit and review it.
Their discord video call meeting was pushed back a day, then two, then a week, then two more.
“Alright” Gaege started. “We need to call right now and organize something.” He posted in their group chat.
“Dude, it's the fucking middle of the night here.” Mully replied.
“Dont care. @Everyone join call!!!” Gaege posted, getting everyone's attention.
“He’s right. I’ll be in, just gotta finish eating lunch.” Eddie replied.
“NO!!! Now!!!!” Gaege was right. If the boys wanted to plan something they needed to act quick.
Gaege clicked ‘call’ and soon everyone stumbled into the call.
The group decided they wanted to do another haunted video. They found a “haunted” house just outside of Florida. It was small and not very known.
“Dude I can’t find any haunted info on this place besides their website. What if its not even fucking haunted…” Eddie asked, hunching over his computer in his office chair.
“I mean, I dug deep enough to find one youtube video of the place…” Grant chimed in.
“Psh, yeah…screen share it.” Josh said, rubbing his tired eyes.
The video was of a pair of investigators sharing their findings. It was dated a few years back and only had a hundred or so views. They didn't share much history of the place but they did get a lot of evidence on the place. A lot of noises like creaks, whispers, and even some patterned knocks.
“Would this even be worth it? What if we don't get anything? It would be a fucking waste…” Josh hummed.
“I mean, it wouldn't hurt…” Grant said, closing the finished video from his tabs.
“I think we should go…and if we don't get anything we can just record a back up video of us, i don't know, carving pumpkins…” Gaege said, fidgeting with his lip as he spoke.
“Yo, carving pumpkins would be fun!” Mully smiled, mainly focused on a fun video instead of a spooky one.
“It's a good back up idea…But I agree with Juicy, I think we should check this place out” Eddie said.
“ ‘ight, let's schedule this!” Josh cracked his knuckles, ready to plan a trip to the states.
A month later Eddie walked up to Gaeges house. They group decided to just stay at gaeges house for the time being and grind out some videos. Eddie huffed, knocking at Gaege’s door.
After a short wait, the door opened and Eddie was greeted by the rest of the group. He put his stuff away in a guest room he’d be sharing with Grant then went back to talk with everyone in the dining room.
“Okay, tomorrow morning we are gonna drive up there. Did we decide if we are sleeping there or if we are crashing in a motel?” Gaege asked, hands pressed to the table.
“Fuck man, I aint sleeping in a fucking haunted house!” Mully chimed.
“We don’t know if it's haunted..” Josh teased, nudging Mully's arm.
“I think we should leave it up to the viewers…Y'know like stay at a motel then tell the audience if they hit the like goal we come back and spend the night.” Grant said, notebook open and infront of him for notes.
“I agree.” Eddie nodded.
“Nah, because what if then we have to go back?!” Mully raked a hand through his hair.
“Make it a huge like goal” Josh suggested, pointing at Grant to write that down.
“I like Narrator’s idea,” Gaege said, the rest of the group nodding. “Alright, I'll call a few places tonight to see if they have any openings.”
Time passed and it was tomorrow morning. The group was ready and heading out. Their plan was to get to the motel first and unload the cars. They had to take two cars to fit the boys, the filming crew (which consisted of Kevin and Dose), along with all the personal things and filming equipment. They leaved everything at the motel besides what they needed for the night. After that they will head to the Haunted house, recording the research part of the video while they drive.
The group was on their way to the house, everyone packed into the rented minivan. Dose drove, Gaege was passenger, everyone else found their place in the back. Kevin sat behind Dose and recorded Gaege while he spoke to the group and their camera.
“So this place is called Robert Walsh house. He was the man that built and lived in this house.” Gaege turned, speaking to the group as he read his notes off his phone. “He lived there with his family, Elizabeth Walsh was his wife. Together they had two daughters, Josephine Walsh was their oldest and Ruth was their youngest.”
Gaege gave a quick overview of the family’s history, but the group wasnt listening, they were all waiting for him to start talking about the ghosts of the house.
“People have reported noises around the house, mainly in the dining room and upper bedrooms. It's rumored that the daughter’s spirits still live there as well as their father. It is also rumored to be a unknown spirit in the closet of the master bedroom.”
All the ears of the group perked up at this.
“What does that mean?” Mully asked nervously. All eyes and the camera turned to him. “Like demons?”
“It's unknown,” Grant said from the back of the car.
“Yeah…it could be something positive or something negative.” Gaege said, looking to mully.
“Nah fool it they saying it's ‘unknown’ that for sure some demon shit!” Eddie said, leaning forward so the front of the car could hear him.
“Yeah…anyways!” Gaege turned back to his phone. “People also rumor that there are more spirits without names or identities that wander the house and grounds. There is a rumor that a woman from the 1930’s likes to hang out in the kitchen. Investigators rumor you can tell when she is around if you smell something burning coming from the kitchen. They also rumor that there is a young ghost who hangs out in the children's bedroom. Investigators believe this to be a young boy since he responds well to toys like trucks, bears, and balls-” Gaege was cut off by a snort from mully, camera quickly moving to capture his awkward face.
After about another 2 hours of driving and talking about what they expect, the car rolls to the side of the road. The group turned to the window, looking at the house. It was much bigger than they expected.
They all made their ways out of the car, making sure they had everything needed for tonight. Kevin carried all the filming equipment, Josh had half of the ghost equipment while Eddie carried the second half.
The group headed into the house where they met the tour guide, Jenny. They chatted for a little, explained how and why they are recording for youtube, then got started with the tour.
Their tour was going great and the house was very calm, until they got to the Master bedroom. The group filled into the room, making a circle around the spacious room as they listened to the guide speak.
“Do you feel that…?” Eddie whispered, turning to Gaege who was paying his full attention to Jenny.
“Feel what?” Gaege whispered back.
“I don't know man. I feel heavy…in my chest…”
“Kind of? I'm just kind of cold…” Gaege whispered, rubbing his arm.
“And that's when they found Mr Walsh, hanging from the closet.” Jenny pointed towards Gaege and Eddie, their faces dropped as they turned around. They saw the bare, dark, and empty closet right behind them.
“Nah, Nah, Nah!” Eddie stepped forward, pushing himself away from that side of the room. “I got chicken skin dude! I aint fucking with that!”
“Well I think I know Eddie's challenge tonight!” Josh commented into the camera lens, making Kevin snicker.
“You’re crazy! I felt some over there dude I swear! Shit made my chest all heavy…”
Later that night the group decided to split up for solo investigations first then come back together to use all their information gained in a final group investigation. Eddie refused to go back into the bedroom and as much as the group wanted to push him in there and lock the door, they decided to rock, paper, scissors to see who would get it.
Fortunately Eddie was great at this game, unfortunately, Gaege was not.
He got the bedroom while Eddie got the kitchen, Mully got the dining room, Grant the kids bedroom, and Josh the backyard.
Gaege took a night vision camera and a REM pod as he headed back into the bedroom.
“Hey Mr. Walsh…I'm back. Just here to try and talk for a little.” Gaege said softly as he set the REM pod down on the bed and sat in the chair that was in the corner of the room.
“Can you touch that red circle on the bed to show me you’re here?” Gaege asked, hand folded together on his lap. He watched the REM pod for a light or noise.
“Is anyone here?” Gaege asked, pointing the camera towards the REM pod.
A quick tap triggered the beep noise and light of the REM pod.
“Oh thanks! Are you Mr Wlash?” He asked, expecting another quick noise. But he was greeting with silence.
“Are you someone else?”
Beep, Beep.
“Are you a Walsh?”
Silence
“Are you the child that lives here?”
Silence.
“I dont know who this could be then…” Gaege said, turning the camera to his face. He realized how dark the room was when the REM pod wasn’t going off. His eyes differed around the room, lost in thought, until he was pulled back to the REM pod.
Beep, Beep, Beep.
Startled, Gaege turned the camera back to the REM pod.
“Are you the spirit people believe to live in the closet?”
Beep. Beep.
“But you're not Mr. Walsh?”
silence .
“Then who…” Gaege's voice trailed as his eyes drifted to the closet. He didn't know why but this urge started to grow in his stomach to go closer. Too look into the closet.
Slowly Gaege stood up. He took a step, eyes so fixated on the closet that he didn't care for the camera anymore… His mind grew blank as all Gaege thought about was the closet and being in it. Why…?
He was so focused on the closet and just the closet that his grip on the camera slowly slipped until a thumb echoed the room. The camera sat on the floor pointed towards the chair Gaege was just sitting in.
Without Gaege even touching the camera, it moved. Something pushed the camera until it pointed perfectly at the closet with Gaege mindlessly walking towards it.
With a loud creak, gaeges left leg stepped into the closet, then the right. He stood still in the closet, just staring at the back wall. His eyes started to sting from not blinking. His chest grew heavy. No, his whole body was heavy. So heavy that gaege simply dropped to his knees. His muscles relaxed, jaw opening.
Quicker than anything before, the closet door shut. Leaving the room empty and quiet until a noise came from the bed.
Three beeps came from the REM pod with they last one elongated with an abrupt halt.
